Enjoy a stay at our rustic log cabins nestled 1/2 mile back from our residence in the peaceful woods of our family's 160-acre 5th generation farm. Summertime here is filled with long days of daylight to participate in various activities, or just hang out in the hammock. The warm evenings bring out fire flies, owls hooting, and stargazing while sitting around the campfire. The fall is a very special time of year here with the maples and oaks changing colors. There are two log cabins, one of which doubles as a place to cook maple syrup in the spring, a pavilion, and an odor-free "outhouse". We will only rent to one group at a time, you'll just have to choose which cabin site(s) you want. The group limit is 9 people. Hike the trails meandering through our woods, sit around the large campfire, take a relaxing nap in the hammock, watch sunset down one of the trails, or the many activities of hiking and mountain/fat tire biking groomed trails at nearby Levis/Trow Mound, fishing, kayaking, horse trail rides, and The Highground Veterans Memorial Park is a mile up the road. The pavilion has a large log picnic table, Blackstone griddle, a charcoal grill, and refrigerator/freezer. The pavilion and Sugar Shack cabin have solar power. The Sugar Shack has a small gas stove and oven. The Cozy Cabin does not have solar power yet. All rentals include use of the pavilion and "outhouse". There is no WiFi but there is good cell phone service. Bedding is furnished for cabin stays. Wood is furnished. Charcoal is furnished. We welcome your furry friends, but no more than 2 dogs. We politely request no children under 7 in cabins, and then all children over 7 supervised at all times while in cabins. 2 night minimum; 3 night minimum on holiday weekends such as Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend, and 4th of July if it lands on a Friday or Monday. UPDATE: The gravel road down to the cabins is completed and smooth. Neillsville is located just 2 hours from St. Paul, MN; 2 1/2 hours from Madison; 2 1/2 hours from Green Bay.

Entire Rustic Cozy Retreat

We had a great time! The location and layout of the cabins, firepit, and pavilion made for an open and relaxing environment. Everything was so well thought out. Everything was well stocked. And the personal touches took it over the top. It made for a most memorable weekend for all of us, including our two canine friends.

Kevin and Judy set a whole new bar for “Midwest Nice”. They are the most caring and accommodating hosts I have had the fortune to connect with… and I have traveled a ton. They welcomed us with homemade blueberry coffee cake, pancake mix, fresh blueberries, and maple sugar they make themselves. This is just one example of many. Their property is like nothing I have ever seen. It was beautifully designed and built by the hosts themselves. We slept comfortably in the cabins, had great fires, lots of secluded space for our gathering, and an amazing pavilion for cooking and games. We had a full day of rain and still had so much fun. We were able to hike trails right on the property. Dogs are welcome. They are able to enjoy the trails and have free roam on the property. It was so nice to enjoy the vacation with our pup!

Sugar Shack Cabin

This was a wonderful place!! Very beautiful and secluded. Wonderful hosts who did so much to make our stay extra nice! We really appreciated that our dogs were welcomed as well and could be off leash. Very nice trails to walk and campfire area. The outhouse was very clean and the nicest I have ever been to! Great wood fired pizza and blueberry pancakes too! If you desire and let them know. We will absolutely be back. Do yourself a favor and go as well!

Entire Rustic Cozy Retreat

The setting, the cabins and the attention to detail alone warrant five stars. Kevin and Judy have put their hearts and souls into this beautiful, rustic get-a-way. We had such a great time and went home with beautiful memories. We loved hiking the trails, watching the sunset, listening to the birds, hanging out at the fire pit and using the outdoor kitchen. Our dog lived his best life out there haha! Kevin and Judy were so thoughtful and we can’t thank them enough for sharing such a wonderful place with us. Great place, loved the view. No noise from the roads so it felt like authentic camping the whole weekend. A lot of work was put into this place and we plan on staying again someday.

Just what I was looking for!

Sugar Shack Cabin

If you're looking for the perfect solo or small group getaway, this is it. Tucked away off the highway on Kevin and Judy's property is a slice of fresh air to enjoy. I loved the privacy and feeling completely safe. You can tell that they've put a lot of thoughtful work and attention to detail in their space. The road to the cabins is newly laid, the cabins are equipt with everything you could need, and I thouroughly enjoyed using the pavillion to enjoy breakfast and dinner, next time I'll come prepared to use the outdoor brick oven as well. The hammock was a perfect spot for a nap or reading and we enjoyed a fire every night after watching the sunset off one of their trails. I appreciated the lables and helpful markings around the space and Kevin and Judy were wonderful and kind hosts. My dog also enjoyed the space! Being off leash and walking through some of the trails on the property made him a very happy pup. Another great thing about this location is it's perfect for exporing things close by! There's a list of plenty of things to get outdoors and do. I clearly can't say enough great things about my visit and I'm very excited to plan my next trip.

Tent Site at Cozy Rustic Retreat #2

The property is beautiful with a stunning view from any part. Lots of comfortable and shady spots for tent camping and the sugar shack is the perfect spot for a romantic get away! Kevin and Judy are so welcoming and helpful with tourist suggestions, dinner recommendations and so sweet to our pups! We Will definitely be coming back!

Once you see the camp you will most likely fall in love with it immediately. Large secluded camp site/ground with a rustic theme. A lot of space to play yard games or let the kids/pets run around. Large fire ring with patio furniture and large pavilion to hang out in with a fridge, freezer, and various cooking options. The cabins were super cool and beds were very comfortable. They had a lot of extra supplies with everything being organized and clearly labeled. Lots of trails to walk around and the bugs were not that bad when we went. Only trouble we had was finding the place and the road to the site was a little rocky. The hosts are super friendly and replied very quickly when we asked questions. This place had us regretting not staying longer. We are already planning another trip! Highly recommend visiting this place!

Entire Rustic Cozy Retreat

I cannot say enough good things about our stay at the Rustic Cozy Retreat. Kevin and Judy are so kind, welcoming, and easy to communicate with. They have thought of everything to make your stay the best it can be. There are two cabins and a tent site, we stayed in the Sugar Shack. Kevin uses it to make maple syrup and there are antique syrup bottles and cans on display around the cabin. There is a bed in the loft, but we stayed on the futon and it was very comfortable. The outhouse is roomy, clean, and has a hand washing station. We loved exploring the trails on the property with our dog. Kevin let us know of a spot not far down the trail to catch the sunset (bonus - bugs weren't bad!) The landscaping on the grounds is beautiful and there are clear paths leading to the cabins, campfire area, outhouse, and pavilion. The Cozy Cabin has a hummingbird feeder and we were able to see hummingbirds a few times on our stay, that was one of my favorite parts! The hammock and pavilion are a great place to relax in the shade, eat, and play games. Kevin and Judy have provided board games and corn hole. We ended the night with a fire in the cozy campfire area. Judy has a S'mores Station with all the ingredients you would need - I highly recommend adding a Reese thin to your next s'more! If you can, take some time to chat with Kevin and Judy about the history of the property. They've done a lot of work to make this such a special place. We cannot wait to come back!
