Base Camp offers a tranquil escape with thoughtful amenities and a welcoming host, Jon. The campground is clean, well-maintained, and family-friendly, featuring activities like kayaking, biking, and relaxing by the pond. While some guests noted the lack of shade, the campground's proximity to the charming town of Humboldt and its seamless setup process, including electronic check-ins and full RV hookups, make it a convenient choice. Visitors appreciate the clean facilities and the ample opportunities for outdoor recreation, making it a popular spot for both relaxation and adventure.
Base camp is gorgeous and peaceful. Very well thought out, with great amenities. Close to town (Humboldt is a very cute little historic town with a laid back atmosphere and great food and shops), but far enough to be out in nature. Everything was very clean and well maintained. There are a lot of things for people who bike, but plenty for those, like me, who do not. I highly recommend and am sure we'll be back.
This place was awesome. Very easy to pull in and set up. The paved area might look too "suburban" at first but it is very close to paths to the lake, kayaks and floating stuff as well as courses for bikes (provided) and casual walks!, is also well insulated from the road and traffic noise The area was level and we were within 0.25 inches both side to side and front to back with almost no adjustments!!! There are curbs in each pull thru lane so make sure you have your props/stilts for your drainage lines but it was very easy and very convenient set up. Check in and check out was all electronic booking thru Hipcamper so very easy in and out! The lake is large enough to enjoy kaying/paddling and clean enough to jump in. Easy rock launch pad for the kayak and canoes as well. The bathroom and showers were clean (though we didn't use due to full RV hook up) and easy to access from the camp sites. There is a game room with billiards and other stuff to keep teens occupied. It is a very short trip to town where there was shopping and the weekend we were there, happenings downtown to add to the appeal. Overall this park was incredibly easy, convenient, clean and a real pleasure. We feel fortunate to have discovered this place and hope to return here often. We were RV full hook up but the cabin sites were super cute and looked amazing regarding location to water, spacing between sites for privacy etc. I would full on return in my camper or if looking for a Cabin getaway! Great place!
There was a lot of open space for walking the dogs or tent camping. A cool obstacle area for bike riding. The entire area was clean well laid out. Several areas for camp fires with chairs. The camper area was drive through with Water, Electric & Sewer on wide pull through stalls. We enjoyed the place & would stop again if in the area.
Such a fun campground! My kids rode their bikes, paddled around on the kayaks, and fished. We took a walk one morning on the trail. Overall great campground.
Easy to get in and out. Right in the middle of bike trails which is what we were after. Level. Utilities hookups were close and secure. No shade at all, but we did t spend time in the rv anyways! Great stay. Would recommend.
Hands down our favorite camping spot. Great host, awesome scenery & a super nice bath house. Clubhouse is fantastic. Really good places to eat in town - just a couple minutes away. We’ve stayed here maybe 5-6 times so far & we’ll definitely keep coming back! :)
Everything is charming about staying at BaseCamp. The bathrooms and shower were very clean. Lots of board games to play and pool table in the Bike Barn. We spent our time fishing and doing s'mores over a camp fire. They had plenty of wood for us to burn! We took time to go into town and get some amazing coffee, lunch, and visited the the ice cream place a couple times. Hopefully next time we will make it to the cocktail bar and brewery. We stayed in an RV this time maybe next time we will rent a cabin.
This was our second camp at Base Camp and we got to bring three other families with us. We loved the pond with all of the kayaks and access to the bike trail!
Base camp was excellent. The kids loved kayaking on the quarry and fishing. Great set up next to the trail with easy RV pull in spots with hook ups great host and experience.
This is a great family campground. The shower house and bathrooms were so clean! We had a pretty big group so when the storm came in the bike barn was great! We were able to all hang out and visit while it rained. They have so much for kids to do! I loved the kayaks and paddleboat were included in our stay. The rv/camper area is all pavement. No tracking in dirt and debris. There wasn't any traffic in and out, which was nice for the kids riding their bikes. We will definitely be coming back!
Awesome location and amenities as per usual! Was able to run and explore the Southwind and Prairie Spirit Trail, and watch families and other guests fish and take in the water elements on kayaks. Totally worth it to make it a destination!
Really nice place, lots of shade, pond with canoes and paddle boards and easy access to a beautiful walking/biking path. Tent camping, rv or cabin rentals all available. Would be fun for groups young and old.
We loved our stay here! My wife and I just bought an RV and this was our first trip out. The RV slots were easy to access and included all the services needed. While we were there, we fished, hiked, relaxed, and explored Humboldt. We will definitely be back!
Gorgeous - the property, the buildings, the pond. The Bike Barn had tools(!), storage, lovely swings and a fabulous kitchen/dining area. We’ll be back to enjoy it all again.
Great location to ride the bike trail. The facilty was top notch. Kayaks and canoes a bonus. The firepits and the bike barn were perfect for our group. Humboldt a very nice small town. Would stay again.
We really enjoyed our weekend at Basecamp. We were able to take an official tour during the Big Kansas Road Trip and learned about the history of the campground and all of the amenities. It’s amazing! We will be back.
Excellent camp sites. All concrete pad that is level with full hookups. Nice amenities (bicycles, games, fire pits, boats, game room) at the campground and right next to South wind Rail Trail.
Awesome place! John was very friendly! Site was clean. Pond was great! We loved the canoe! Bike barn was impressive. We were very pleased that the camp was right on the trail. Brewery was super!
Great space with a lot of amenities. Bike trail adjacent to the property. Canoe, paddle boards and kayaks were great. Short walk to a local brewery and restaurant.
Absolutely amazing camping experience with so many things to do in the area. The town is fantastic, and Jon is a great host! We will stay here again in the future, no doubt!
