A pet friendly, off leash, dark skies 6 acre slice of paradise in North Florida on the banks of the Suwannee River. In 1990 the State of Florida banned logging within 1,000 feet of the Suwannee River so Southeast Timberlands sold off it's holdings and we were lucky enough to purchase 6 acres and 444 feet of riverfront. A designated "Pristine Scenic Waterway" with very steep banks, the Suwannee is one of the few"wild" rivers left in the United States and can rise over 30 feet to flood stage almost overnight; yet due to its unique topography we can access it no matter how high or low the water. The Forest Service has bought up the surrounding lots, creating a 10 mile Conservation corridor supporting the National Scenic Florida Trail, it's clearly marked footpaths and natural attractions. To that end, we have left the old growth upland forest the way we found it. The campsite is a natural feature as is the Zen deck and canoe launch, a swale draining the ridge. The campsite is level, the lane to the river slopes gently dropping in elevation 20 feet over 1,000 in making it easy for able bodied guests to navigate their way to the white sugar sand beach. We want to share our retreat with those who are looking for a real wilderness experience in an exclusive private setting. A Waiver of Liability is required by all guests as the Wilderness is an inherently dangerous place. We only offer one accommodation per weekend with a maximum of 8 people, because we only have 1 toilet, so our guests can have the seclusion they desire and be free to enjoy the natural wonder of the woodland experience in any manner they choose.

Bring your Tents, hammocks or sleeping bags (and electric blankets if it is cold) , to our acre private campsite. Our campsite offers an outdoor bathroom facility with an enclosed flush toilet, sink and hot water shower, a picnic table and a fire pit with log seating. A large charcoal grill with utensils is provided but bring your own charcoal. Our large screened platform room has a ceiling fan, lights, electric outlets, a table with 4 chairs, a hammock, a kitty perch and room for a queen-size air mattress, The Veranda, a covered outdoor living area perfect in the event of inclement weather, has a ceiling fan over a table and 4 chairs, a wood burning fireplace, wicker love seat, 2 Adirondack chairs and child-size rocking chair, and the outdoor kitchen offers a fully functional, hot water, sink and food prep area. A 42 gallon covered garbage pail is provided but you must pack your trash out with you when you go. Our beautiful 6-acre river retreat is adjacent to thousands of acres of Conservation Easement and hiking trails on the banks of the Suwannee River and one of the few "wild" rivers in the United States.A three-minute walk down a broad, shaded, gently sloping path takes you to the beach and banks of the Suwannee River, with clearly marked orange blazes outlining the Florida National Scenic Trail and a 1/2 mile Scenic Loop to one of the few waterfalls in Florida. There is direct river access all year long for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, biking, bird watching and fishing on site, with live music at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park, folk festivals at the Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center and Big Shoals Class III whitewater rapids all within a 15-minute drive. Accessible from either the river or from the road, this site is right on the riverbank with a platform for your tent and a canoe launch. This one acre private site in a forest glade, a flat grassy space 75 feet from the riverbank. Although it is adjacent to my house, I will leave after getting you all set up. We have 50 and 30 amp hookups, potable water, a picnic table and a fire pit with log seating. A dump station is available on site on the way out. It is on the Florida Trail with it's orange-blazed path, the Zen deck and canoe launch, and shallow water entry to the river. A 10 minute stroll in either direction takes you upriver past the Gazebo to Disappearing Creek and Waterfall or downriver to Grady's beach on a bend in the river and great fishing spot. The river rises and falls, and depending on the height of the river, we have shallow water access from our property as well as a sloping canoe launch. There is direct river access all year long for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, biking, bird watching and fishing on site, with live music at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park, folk festivals at the Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center and Big Shoals Class III whitewater rapids all within a 15-minute drive. Go on eco-adventures, dine al fresco at the riverside gazebo or just spend the day lazing on the zen deck reading a good book watching the river float by. Golf carts are welcome as are fat tire E bikes, but no gasoline ATV's or Dirt bikes, We welcome families with young children, and people over 25. 2 large or 3 small dog maximum and cats are welcome.

We had a wonderful stay at Janet’s property! The property was absolutely beautiful and located right on the Florida Trail, which made it a perfect spot for a peaceful camping getaway. Jerry met us on-site when we arrived and took the time to show us around. Everything was very well maintained, the grass was freshly mowed, and you could tell the property is well cared for. It was incredibly peaceful and quiet throughout our entire stay. Our dogs especially loved the seclusion and having such a relaxing place to enjoy the outdoors. We really enjoyed our time here and will definitely be going back. Highly recommend Janet’s property to anyone looking for a beautiful, quiet, and well-maintained place to camp!

Janet and Jerry were very accommodating, and their land is something special. Lots of trails and river access to explore. Jerry met us at the entrance to the property, even though we arrived a bit late. He took the time to show us around and give us pointers. You’re truly out in nature here, and should expect all that comes with that. We extended our stay a second night so we had more time to explore and are glad we did!
