Welcome to Camp Wilder! We are an off-the-beaten-path camp offering peace and solitude. The cabin is very special to my family and me. It was passed down as a mining claim from my grandmother who founded it in the '60s. The vision for the land was simply perfect. A small 10 x 10 cabin with the whole mountain to explore and whoever they wished to bring with them. The town of Nederland is 10 minutes down the road where you can fish at Baker Reservoir. Lots of fun little stores in town to keep the family busy. Wildlife is everywhere up by the cabin/campsite, always remember don't leave food lying around with lots of great things to look for around the magical town of Nederland. The cabin sleeps up to 8 with the futon downstairs being very comfortable and 3" foam upstairs in the loft for more sleeping area. Bring your sleeping bags to stay cozy at night. There are lanterns inside to light up your night with a wood stove to keep you warm at night. The ground around it is sloped so you may have a hard time setting up any tents around the cabin. The grocery store is in Nederland where you can buy food, Coleman green propane bottles, gallon jugs of water and wood. There is a 3 burner Coleman, stove to cook on with limited pots & pans as well as silverware. Road disclaimer, the road to the cabin is one lane dirt road. The drive up to the cabin is pretty good but the turn onto the single dirt road to the cabin has a slight dip, if you have a low-clearance car it may bottom out when you are turning so be careful. No Trailers. They will not be able to turn around once there. Recommend vehicles with AWD. Go 3.4 miles up Caribou road. Turn right @ yellow stakes go .4 miles. Park on the left. Hike down to the cabin between yellow stakes. We are @ 10,000 feet and it is a slight hike to the cabin. Go 3.4 miles up Caribou road. Turn right @ yellow stakes go .4 miles When leaving please make sure both door locks are locked, put the key in the lock box and mix the code for the next camper.

Family-friendly! Lots of desirable campsites with wheelchair access that are easy to pull up into. Great views. Open walking paths all over! Very private. Amazing wildlife. Our motto leaves no trace. Please pack out your trash. Very quiet @ night. This land has been passed down in the family. And it's very special to a lot of families and friends. We have kept up on the land and kept it clean and basic for when you want to enjoy nature quietly. Winter camping is welcomed but will need to hike in. Back-county skiing is amazing in this area! Road disclaimer, the road to the campsite has a dip, if you have a low clearance car it might bottom out on that. No trailers, they will not make it up. Recommend an AWD vehicle. If you are coming from a low altitude grab some oxygen cans @ the B&F grocery store. We are @ 10,000 feet. In the winter you will need to snowshoe in. Please check in rules & safety, Copy & paste to check for the fire ban. This is to hopefully prepare you. Please think about these things before you book. Go 3.4 miles up Caribou road. Turn right @ yellow stakes go .4 miles. At the Y turn left then another quick left into the camp area. Thank you.

This is a  wonderful 10 x 10 cabin with a large loft & great views. Quiet walking trails.  ATV trails for days. There is fishing at Barker Dam in Nederland. There is an extra large hammock  that is great to hang out in. There is also a  bird feeder hanging from the tree.  Please feed the birds but do not leave food laying around outside.  Be wary of Moose, Bears & Mountain Lions.  They have been seen in the area from time to time. The futon down stairs is very comfortable and cots up stairs in the loft for more sleeping area. Bring your sleeping bags to stay cozy at night. There are lanterns inside to light up your night with an Air tight wood stove to keep you warm at nights. To use the wood stove open the flue and pull metal handles in front out to activate air flow. The ground around it is sloped so you may have a hard time setting up any tents around the cabin. The B&F grocery store is in Nederland.  You can buy  food, Coleman green propane bottles  Take some water up with you. There is a  3 burner Coleman stove to cook on.  Limited pots & pans as well as silver wear. Road disclaimer, the road to the cabin is one lane dirt road. We got just what we expected. Location was amazing, short walk to and from the car, a little dirty but lots of left over wood and helpful items from past guests. Sleeping was a little uncomfortable ( I was with kids - probably would have been fine on my own). It's not glamorous but it gets the job done with some charm.

Do NOT recommend. Communication with Cole was spotty and unclear. The cabin was dirty even for off-grid standards. There seemed to be random personal effects. No linens were provided, pots and pans were dirty (with food), the futon mattress was abysmal. The wood stove let out smoke into the cabin, instructions to use were unclear . There were three ashtrays but no cups. The view was wonderful and outside the cabin was great. It felt private.

Second time camping here and another relaxing weekend! Easy to find with the host’s directions and is very quiet but close enough to town. Able to get to site with a FWD SUV but would not want to attempt in snow or heavier mud/rain. Will likely be back again!

Camping here was absolutely wonderful! From the drive up to the view from the porch, the scenery was gorgeous. The site itself is a bit tricky to find which was my only issue. Otherwise the location is perfect, and the lodging was stocked with a multitude of useful resources. I would definitely visit again!

We loved our experience! We made it in time to peep the fall leaves and also got to experience a beautiful pink sunset. The tent site was large enough to pull our VW van into and gave us room to pop the top. Despite other campers staying in the cabin across the way, it was quiet and we felt very secluded (what we were looking for!). Our two dogs also had a blast and spent a ton of time exploring the woods. 10/10 recommend. Will absolutely be back to both the tent site and are already looking to make plans to book the cabin site soon. Thank you so much for opening up your space to us!

Beautiful views and quite comfy. 3 burner stove works great. Plenty of firewood in the area. Hammock was very comfy as well. Deer were in the area and bearberry grows on the hill. Would definitely stay again.

The location is truly stunning: the cabin is nestled in the woods, surrounded by nature, with breathtaking views. It’s an experience that offers peace and quiet, far away from everything. Unfortunately, there are some issues that limit its potential. The cabin is not cleaned or tidied up after each stay, so it felt quite dusty and dirty. Moreover, the sofa bed has a very old and uncomfortable mattress that really needs to be replaced. It’s a real pity, because just a few improvements would be enough to fully showcase the cabin’s incredible potential.

Incredible view, accommodation lack

Very quiet and great view! However the space was very dirty, and minimally upkept. There was no wood to burn for the inside fire. It was messy and a little bit of TLC would go a long way with this space. It’s basically glorified camping, but dirtier. Incredible view though. Do NOT attempt to find it at night, I made that mistake.

Overall it’s a beautiful place to be and if you don’t mind veryyy bare necessities I would recommend it. The host was not communicative at all. I wasn’t even sure that he knew we were coming because everything just seemed very automated with the messages. Also when we got there the bedding was thrown all over the place and definitely did not look like it had been washed in a while. The toilet was also so so full we did not feel comfortable using it-it was disgusting. The view was absolutely unbeatable though! The drive is a bit confusing but once you get the hang of it it’s not too bad. You definitely need 4WD.

I’m 100% recommending this place. Absolutely meets and exceeds expectations set by the profile. We slept 3 adults comfortably and could have fit 4. The view from the cabin is breathtaking. The cabin is well stocked with sleeping pads, furniture and kitchenware.

Camp Wilder was a blast! Our group of 9 had a ton of space. It's very quiet and peaceful, fantastic for noisy kids. There is a standard porta-potty 50 ft from the campground. The road is accessible, and it never felt like sketchy off-roading. I'll definitely be coming back!

You really can’t top the view from the cabin!! We wanted to stay forever 😍 I can’t recommend this place enough!! It was a perfect place to get acclimated before our backpacking trip.

Booking the whole property felt like a secluded dream! Nights were so quiet and completely private, and it was wonderful letting the dogs roam off leash. The mountain views were unbeatable—especially with the evening fog rolling through. The patio was the perfect spot to watch hummingbirds and soak it all in, and the picnic table made a great place for dinner. We brought our own coffee setup and bedding, but there was a Coleman stove and some handy amenities available. The campsite itself was huge, with plenty of room for multiple tents and several fire pits to enjoy (when there isn’t a fire ban). The porta potty was where we parked our car, so it wasn’t a far walk at all!

We loved this site up in Nederland! It was quiet and well maintained with a great view on the drive in. Our car died as we were on our way out and Cole was incredibly helpful in finding a solution.

Great space for tent camping. Metal annd picnic tables and chairs available if you don't want to pack your own. Great views and close to the reservoir. Also close to town if you need to make a run for supplies.

We had such a relaxing stay at the primitive lodge. The views are mesmerizing. Being ready for the primitive aspect and knowing you’ll have to walk a bit to unload will make the trip more enjoyable. We’ve already discussed staying again but for longer next time.

This site is beautiful and very quiet. Cole the host is to messages. The site is a little difficult to find and the road up to it is difficult to drive (narrow and very rocky). The wildflowers were stunning and the views around the camp are amazing. We brought my elderly dog for her last camping trip. She had the time of her life and our kids loved rock hunting.

I took my 18 yr old grandson, his friend & 2 dogs. It was perfect!! I don’t know who had more fun, the kids or dogs! The little dog barks at everything & it was so nice to have so much space to ourselves & not have to worry about it. Cole had everything there as backup. We brought blow up mattresses but didn’t need them because there was cushioning in the loft where the boys slept. We hiked & explored & found a beautiful feather, either owl or falcon, to add to the blue jay feather there. The views & the hummingbirds were the best! I can’t wait to go back! We got a little rain & it was nice to have a place to hang out & stay dry until it passed. We loved being here! Thank you so much Cole!

Great secluded spot for a peaceful camping experience. Stayed two nights and loved it. Be sure to follow owner recommended directions because google may suggest to take a more direct road that is a single lane sketchy and narrow road for 4x4 or ATV only versus a nicely maintained wide road.
