Slide Ranch camping is always a dream! Quail Hill is even closer than the Dome Meadow so it made packing in and out super easy. We lucked out with stunning, clear winter weather — no wind overnight and a view of the Farallones from the tent. Our neighbor the Great Horned Owl greeted us with his song at dawn. Stellar hike to the tide pools before we left. Will keep coming back 💚

Slide Ranch and the campsite were so beautiful and we enjoyed an amazing sunset dinner looking out over the ocean, and viewing stars as they came out and other people played guitar and sang nearby. Probably around 10-11pm as we were falling asleep, there was a crazy wind that kicked up and destroyed several peoples’ tents, damaged our own, sending most campers packing out in the middle of the night. We stuck it out along with a small handful of hardy folks but barely slept due to hunkering down in our now-concave tents shuddering violently during what sounded like a crazy squall lasting most the night. This was with my noise cancelling earbuds in my ears!
We heard the night before was windless and peaceful and so learned that early November can be unpredictable, even if things look calm at the onset. The dome was wonderful to have the use of for cooking and we met sweet people who also inspired us with coastal camping culinary ideas. Outhouse was clean and did the job, and at one point just after sunset saw a great horned owl perch briefly atop the structure.

Tough first camping trip with a 2 year old, primarily because of the 1/4 mile hike-in and no car access, but we still had a blast. We only completed 1 of 2 nights due to excessive rain and the area getting mucky. Bring pre-made 'just add water' meals (Sports Basement has a ton) and a few gallons of your own water. We brought 2 canvas wagons to haul in gear. There's an open shed to protect your gear if it does rain. We loved the views and being the only folks camping there (though hikers did come up to the area throughout the late afternoon). Packing up and out took us 3 hours with our 2 year old, so we'd prefer a different spot for camping at this age range next time. No major complaints about the site itself!

Always a dream to camp with my family at Slide Ranch. My son has been camping here since he was a toddler so he feels right at home. We set up camp and immediately headed down to the tide pools as the sun set. Warm and clear, though it was a windy start to the night so come prepared with layers and tent stakes. As we headed out, my son asked if we could promise to come back more often 💚

The property is so special! This was a great little getaway. Beautiful views and walking paths all around. Exploring the boneyard was very cool. If you have kids, they will play in that area for hours. I would love to return.

Unbeatable views, location, and wonderful trails. I also loved having the rolling carts to help get stuff to the site and the potable water coolers at the dome. I will be back. The only thing I think would be nice would be a privat place to hang up solar shower for people who are motivated to byo solar shower bag and fill up with water at the trailhead. Because the only limiting factor of not wanting to stay longer was feeling grimy.

I was the only camper! I weathered 3 hours of rain and wind to spend a night on Quail Hill. By 5 pm it had cleared and the morning was absolutely clear, calm and blue. I hiked all the trails and liked the Muir Beach Overlook, 1.4 miles. It's a gradual up with memorable views of the coast and ocean the whole way. Tent #1 held up in the wind, had two cots and two camp chairs. Spectacular views and the sound of the ocean all night. 5 minutes from the parking lot, downhill and then up a short steep path. It felt private. Loved it.

Such a beautiful, accessible site! It feels remote when you’re out there, but it’s a short walk from your car. Slide ranch provides wheelbarrows so you can take your belongings to the campsite. I highly recommend this campsite if you have children and want to get the experience of Camping..

Unfortunately I was ill on the day of my camping trip to Slide Ranch and was unable to go. Because this occurred a day before my trip, I was unfortunately not allowed to reschedule. But I hope to visit Slide Ranch in the future,

Came through on an overnight bicycle tour
The Dome Campsite is right up there with Kirby Cove campsite # 1 and the "rope swing/cliff camp" on the Lost Coast beach thru-hike for fantastic California coastal camping. Good stuff and recommended.

Beautiful spot overlooking the ocean. Only downside was that the portapotties were a bit of a walk away, but were spotless. Highly recommend.

I got confused by the Yurt, which is not the dome. You need to go on the dome trail past the cypress grove/boneyard. I wheeled my gear in, so it's not a difficult path. There's one toilet with saw dust, and it smelled better than most. The Dome has everything you need for cooking and eating, so you don't need to bring that. Do carry any needed water. The place itself is a farm and event venue, so it's interesting and unique, but that's all far from the campsite, so it shouldn't effect you. I found the price to be high, but that may also be why there was no one else there.

Slide ranch is perfectly situated near SF on the coast. Beautiful views, great hikes nearby. Loved seeing some of the ranch animals. Highway 1 is a touch closer than ideal, and you can hear some traffic noise, but overall great spot. We’ll definitely be back!

Loved the view! Best view campsite. The dome was a little rugged and just had two stove tops which looked really old. The dome could use some work. We got our own food and thank god for that. Beware of poison oak. Other than that best view campsite! Sleeping next to ocean waves was so amazing. We even saw Milky Way galaxy!

Loved our stay! Absolutely stunning view! Easy to get to, clean, comfortable, kids (3 and 4) loved it so much. Hammocks were lovely. The only bummer was not having access to any device/burner to make coffee or warm anything and there are strict rules against bringing any sort of stove or heating apparatus. But otherwise it’s well worth it!

This is a truly stunning site that supports an important nonprofit connecting kids to nature. Camping is right above the ocean, sunsets are magnificent, and there are tide pools at the foot of the trail leading from the campsite to the water.
Sound travels between campers because of the open nature of the site, so I'd recommend earplugs during busy season weekends incase you have chatty neighbors :)

Quick and easy trail to the campsite, although it took a bit at first to figure out where to go. Nice meadow, BEAUTIFUL view! The dome is very well equipped, and like the descriptions say, it's hard to fully cook stuff, but for a quick heat up using a pan or using the kettle for hot water, it's perfect. The nights can get cold, wet, and windy, so make sure you have extra layers. There are a bunch of mini trails surrounding the meadow that allows you to further explore the area. Also nice milky way view at night!

We had a great time at Slide Ranch near the dome. It was super well maintained, felt safe, and absolutely beautiful! There was one other family there, but plenty of space for everyone. I had a couple bars of reception in most places which was nice! Would totally go again!

This was hands down one of the most wonderful hip camp locations I’ve ever been too. Great views and cute little rocky beach nested below the site.
Hike from parking lot to camp site wasn’t too bad at all, although I am an avid hiker. Slide Ranch’s mission as a non-profit is also very admirable.

We loved staying at Slide Ranch! We don't have a car and we were actually able to Uber in!
The campsite is a short 10-15 minute walk from the parking area. You'll get to see cute ranch animals on the way!
The meadow itself is spacious and has amazing views. The beach is also a 10 minute hike!
The dome stove was functional and we found all of the equipment satisfactory. Surprisingly, I had cell service almost throughout the camping area.
I think our only issue was the privyy as a toilet. Not sure what the best solution would be, but maybe the compost toilet could be more organized/maintained. No campfires so that also takes away from the experience a bit :(
But overall, this was a great experience!

Great place to camp. Slide ranch is a popular destination as an educational farm, so it felt special to be able to call it home for 2 nights.
The view is unparalleled. Pacific ocean during the day, Milky Way at night.
We camped during a warm weekend, so we especially noticed the lack of trees at the campground area, but by dusk there was a nice breeze, and fog on our last morning.
The dome offered shade, fortunately, and I was glad to have access to the stove and sink in there for meal prep.
The tide pools/coast access were only a 10 minute walk away, which was an amazing diversion.
It's about a 15 walk, with some small hills, from the parking lot to the campsite, and the provided wheelbarrows were helpful for the gear. Most other hipcampers had backpacking setups, but with our full car camping set, I needed 2 trips to schlep everything.
The staff were super kind and hospitable, and helped refill the water jugs on one night.

Slide Ranch was a magical place to camp! The dome campsite overlook the stunning north coast, a short hike to a tide pool and a grave of whale bones. We even saw a few shooting stars in the night sky. We went with a crew of friends and kids 3- 9years and they had the most fun looking for crabs, milking goats and running around the meadow! Thank you so much for a memorable weekend.
