Beautiful campsite, clean toilet with toilet paper and trash can! Shower has some personality to it but it’s great for a post-hike rinse. Veronica is very friendly and makes sure you feel safe and at home there!

I had a great time at the Ravens campsite. Camping description on all sites are accurate and all have reasonable amounts of shade to camp under. I didn’t explore the immediate area too much, but there is plenty of space to stretch out the legs. One thing to note, *if* there are other camping in the neighboring sites, they will need to pass through Site 4 (Ravens) to use the bathroom or get water. It does get lively at night with all the local wildlife making themselves heard. Expect to see near the campsites: ground squirrels, rabbits, birds, various insects, and the occasional toad. As other reviews mention, Veronica is very knowledgeable, welcoming, approachable, accommodating, great company… need I say more? If you have the time, make the effort to speak with Veronica and learn more about the conservation efforts done to maintain the surrounding area. **Pinnacles National Park tips: -Go early. -BRING A FLASHLIGHT (phone flashlight ok). -Don’t underestimate the difficult trails. -Beware of Rattlesnakes at the park. (I heard one on a trail around sunset.) Easy recommendation! Would return to Song of the Ancients to camp here again!

Serene camping in a blue oak preserve. This is a great alternative to the crowds at the Pinnacles campground. It's a bit of a bumpy drive getting out there, but well worth it if you're looking for peace and quiet, a friendly host, beautiful scenery and a campfire under a sky full of stars.

Quiet, picturesque campsite near only two other sites. No cell service, so really nice to disconnect from daily life. Very basic toilet and shower facilities…but they get the job done. Host Veronica was very nice and helpful. About 45min drive from entrance to Pinnacles National Park.

Veronica was so friendly and offered her availability if we needed anything. We loved the peace, beauty and non-human life about the place- the plants and animals were lively in Spring mode. Abundant stars, expansive sky and views, enough shade. The shower after our 2 lovely and dusty days in Carrizo Plain prior was heavenly. Coyotes yip-howling around the meadow where we camped were a treat for me. We greatly appreciate hearing Veronica's stories of respect and connection with different wildlife of the place.

Great Weekend Getaway

This camping trip was an adventure. A cool place to stay if you're visiting pinnacles or just want a nice getaway. Drive off the beaten path and follow winding dirt roads to a beautiful open valley. Perfects sunset views, plenty of wildlife to watch, and a gracious host. Veronica was such a sweet women, she made sure we had a great weekend, and made us feel welcome to roam and enjoy the property.

We loved staying here for a few nights! Absolutely amazing for stargazing, and the host Veronica is super welcoming. She shared her mission to preserve the Blue Oaks and really cares about treating the land properly. Highly recommend, overall great experience. 45 min to Pinnacles National Park too

Camping here in winter months meant that we were the only campers! Veronica is an incredibly host - very knowledgable of the land, wildlife and preserving the CA old oaks. She was very responsive of all the questions we had and very helpful when we had questions. #4 Campsite is the closest to the amenities even though it's still a few minutes walk into the owner's fenced property. It gets cold at night so bundle up when nature calls to walk over. If you need to use the bathrooms in night like us, I'd recommend Campsite #4 due to proximity. The campsite itself also had some nice trees for shade and it'd be a welcome asset during hotter months. PRO TIP: If you need water spigot, it's also walking towards to the fenced property to wash dishes or clean you items. We didn't bring our camp buckets so that was slight inconvenience due to our miss. Like other said, please be prepared to lose cell connection going to the property. Having the directions printed out was handy for us and definitely try to arrive when there is still light. Much easier to find than being in the dark. We had cloudy evening so didn't catch the starry night which is why we will have to be back!

Beautiful! Veronica was a wonderful host. Very welcoming and gracious. There is no service in the area and Veronica was kind enough to let us use her phone to get in touch with the rest of our group to give some updated instructions/directions. The grounds are well-maintained and the sites were big enough to accommodate big groups with multiple cars. Our group had a mix of car and tent campers and it was big enough to accommodate us all comfortably. Also, the sunset view is absolutely stunning! Looking forward to our next trip back here. Really lovely site and very kind host. It took us an hour to get to Pinnacles, so not quite as close as we thought - but a really beautiful stay. Fair warning - the directions are a little tricky and there isn’t any cell coverage. Would recommend taking a peak at you map before you lose coverage :)

Extraodinary camping spot and host!

We absolutely loved our stay here! Veronica is such a warm and accommodating host who went out of her way to make us feel welcome. The property itself is stunning, a beautiful non-profit space that feels like you have traveled far away to a peaceful savannah desert. We had the best time sitting around a bonfire with Veronica under a million stars, truly unforgettable. The location is perfect, close to Pinnacles National Park but feels worlds away from everything. Totally worth the drive, and we will definitely be back again!

The land here is so lovely and we had a great time camping and marveling at the starry night sky. My kids loved the goats and the wild bunnies. Veronica was a great host, very approachable and responsive. We hope to be back soon!

We had a lovely time at the site - the firepit and firewood (pre-ordered) were there upon arrival and the stars were amazing. The bathroom was nice and well maintained. Highly recommend saving the location on your google maps before you go, as well as using the directions, it's nice to know you're going in the right direction once cell service cuts out (GPS always works). We're so happy we went and came back feeling refreshed and relaxed - Pinnacles was incredible! On the down side, the shower didn't work well either day, the first day the head was mostly broken and the second no one was around to help turn on the heater in the afternoon, so we took very cold showers. The bathroom and shower and among outbuildings and trailers owned by the residents, so are a bit hard to orient yourself to where to go without someone to show you around - everyone was really lovely when we met them. Another important note is that it's 49 minutes to the Pinnacles gate according to Google, if you can go 55 on the pot-holed roads (you can't), so it's an hour to the gate, then 10+ minutes to parking, so you're more like 1:10 away. It didn't stop us from going twice, but I wish we'd known so we were ready!

Camping amongst the beautiful oaks

My group of 9 loved our stay at Song of the Ancients. Our site (#4) provided plenty of space for our 4 cars and teardrop trailer. It was also situated away from the other sites so it felt slightly larger and more private. Upon arrival we almost considered moving to site #3 due to it being located on the very end. However, site #3 partially sits on a slope that leads to small hill, which would be perfect for tents and stargazing, but site #4 ended up being a better fit for us and our sleeping set ups. Sites #1 and #2 were also nice and they seemed to offer the most shade. They're also closer to each other and might be more ideal for a large group that is interested in booking both of them together. Site #4 is nearest to the bathroom, but just know that people from the other sites will walk through your camp to get to it. It wasn't a big deal for us as everyone was super friendly, but we could tell they felt a bit awkward each time they passed through. There may have been another path to access it, but I don't think it was clearly marked. Veronica was a lovely and gracious host, and she went above and beyond to ensure we had plenty of wood during our stay. We especially enjoyed learning about her non-profit and the important work they do for surrounding communities and the revitalization of the California Blue Oak. Song of the Ancients is a beautiful place to camp, and we all left with a deeper appreciation for its landscape. My friends and I look forward to returning.

My stay at Veronica's campsite was unforgettable. If you're looking for a spot to see some amazing stars, this is it. I was blown away by how clear the sky was—you can see everything out here with zero city lights, except when the moon is high and bright. But what really makes this place special is the host, Veronica. She's just awesome—so friendly and welcoming from the second I got there. And she knows SO much about the land! It was super cool to hear her talk about the history, the blue oaks, and everything. You can tell she really cares about the place. It’s way more than just a campsite; it’s a whole vibe. Definitely book this place, you won't regret it! Already looking forward to the next trip, next time we can plant wildflowers. Highly, highly recommend!

We stayed a couple of nights on Veronica's land and it was beautiful. We chose a moonless weekend in order to see the stars and we were not disappointed. The sky was beautiful. The camp sites are really well set up and well spaced so they are private with little noise and it was very peaceful. The lack of cell service was a relief, just the sounds of nature. Veronica is a wonderful host with lots of information about the land and a very kind demeanor. We really enjoyed the stay and will definitely stay again.

This was my third time visiting and I had another great time. We visited on a clear moonless weekend and got some great views and pictures of the night sky. Great spot for visual astronomy and astrophotography. Having a flushing toilet, a shower with hot water, and drinking water makes camping here very comfortable. Veronica is very friendly and made sure our stay went well.

Norcal Dark Sky Gem 2H From SFBay

Wildfarmer's Song of the Ancients is one of the best campsites I've visited in Norcal for dark sky stargazing. Veronica was a lovely and gracious host. It is only a 2 hour drive from the SF Bay Area, an hour to Pinnacles National Park, 1.5 hours to Monterey/Big, and 2 hours to Big Sur. It was a perfect place to find quiet in nature, decompress, and hang out with the wild hogs, rattle snakes, rabbits, deer, and hawks. Would definitely visit again!

This place is well worth coming to. If you’re looking for a place to disconnect (there is zero service) or a stay that is convenient to and from the east entrance of Pinnacles National Park,then this is it. Not only is it a great place, you’d also be supporting a great cause while you’re here. About 40ish minutes from the East entrance of Pinnacles and about 40 minutes to a nearby town called Hollister if you need to stop for goods. Campsites are located pretty close together. we stayed at site 2 and it was well covered by trees. Outhouse type restroom and outdoor shower just across the lot with running and hot water. Fire pit and picnic tables are at each site. While it is a property, you are very much surrounded by wild life so mind your food. Very far from light pollution so clear star filled skies was a definite highlight. No complaints about our stay. Remember while it is a property , it is very much a camping experience. Please take care of the land and be mindful of the nature around you. highly recommend staying here!

The night sky is beautiful! Veronica is a wealth of ecological knowledge! Make time to converse with Veronica. You will learn so much from her! She was a very gracious host. da Choco Pup enjoyed the opened land. Our camp site was perfect. Clean, fire pit, picnic table, canopy of trees. More than enough space for our oversized tent, gear, and SUV. We’re already making plans to return later this year.

Great camp and great host

We enjoyed our time at Veronica's hipcamp. She has been thoughtful of our experience and kept us updated on the wildfire development in the area. Luckily it was put away without affecting the area. As we were arriving late she kept the entry gate open for us. In the morning she stopped by to greet us and offered advice for hiking and day trips in the area. Our site was equipped with two tables, a fire ring and had plenty of shade from several oak trees. Water spigot, restroom and shower are short distance away. - Beyond the essentials we would need in a campground. It appears the blue oak tress a preserved by the non-profit organization run by Veronica what gives the camp feel of a nature preserve more so than staying on a farmland. We certainly prefer the former when we camp and we greatly appreciated the nature in the area. Our most favorite feature of the stay was the scenic view of hills surrounding the area that we enjoyed the most during the golden hour, but great at night with the full moon as well. We enjoyed our time and would come back

This place was great for family camping for those who really enjoy peace and quiet and vast land and awesome night sky! Our camping experience at this location was very positive. The site (#4) was spacious, lots of shades, great view of the hills and sky. Ground was flat and spacious enough for a big tent! Area is clean and there is trashcan nearby! They have a nice bathroom and shower facility. I highly recommend this campsite!
