This property belonged to my grandparents. My grandpa and grandma ran cattle and sheep on the land and put up hay. They raised my dad and his two brothers on the place. My dad and mom built a house just West of the property, where I grew up, walking over the hill to visit Grandpa and Grandma. They sold the ranch when I was 10 years old. The place was sold 3 times before I was able to buy it back in 2021. The purchase included an RV campsite. My wife Lindsey and I thought, what a great way to meet people and share a little piece of our amazing Wyoming. There is nothing better in the world than waking up early in Rural Wyoming! Learn more about this land: Open views of hay meadows, cattle, sheep and sagebrush. The area around the campsite is an open field with easy interstate access. There are neighbors within view and our home is approximately 1/4 mile away from the two RV camping spots. We have kids, horses, sheep, dogs, cats and rabbits. There are also antelope and deer. We do offer electrical, septic and water hookups at both locations. Both sites are immediately adjacent to one another. Just a short drive from Douglas, Wyoming and Natural Bridge State Park. Guernsey State Park camping guide

Overview

About

History buffs flock to Guernsey State Park, southeastern Wyoming’s hub for relics of the past. The grounds contain some of the best examples of Oregon Trail wagon ruts in the country, as well as Register Cliff—this giant slab of flat stone served as a marker for travelers along the Oregon Trail, who carved their names on the stone to keep a record of their arrival and help keep others on course (many are still there). Ten miles of hiking trails will take you to views of the Guernsey Reservoir, surrounded by canyon-like stone walls. The park has seven camping areas, five of which are right on the water, and a few with wonderful yurts available. Everyone from fly fishers to waterskiers can enjoy the smooth, tranquil waters here, where quiet and peace of mind are of the essence.

When to go

Guernsey State Park is a year-round destination, but the best time to visit is from late spring to early fall. During these months, the weather is ideal for outdoor activities. Winter can be harsh, with some facilities closed, so check ahead if you plan a cold-weather adventure.

Know before you go

  • Check weather conditions before your visit, as the park's terrain can be challenging in inclement weather.
  • Be aware of park hours, typically from 8:30am to 5pm, and plan your activities within this timeframe.
  • Remember to pack out your trash and keep the park clean for everyone to enjoy.
  • Some areas may be inaccessible to those with mobility issues, so inquire ahead about accessibility options.
  • Bring all necessary supplies, as amenities may be limited depending on the season and area of the park.
