This Key West state park on the Atlantic Ocean makes for an enjoyable day-trip getaway. Sunny weather, various boating options, and killer sport fishing are all big draws here.
This spot's an especially appealing stop if you're into birdwatching. Take the Golden Orb Trail during the fall migration season if possible. You'll have a good chance of sighting a number of species both beautiful and rare.
The shorter Layton Trail takes you through the region's slightly quieter bay side. Whichever trail you choose, though, don't forget the bug spray! Those critters can get pretty thick and annoying in the heat of the summer months.
Unfortunately, this park did take a massive hit from 2017's Hurricane Irma. Trails are still open during the day, but the campgrounds are closed through 2019. Rebuilding has been ongoing, so
