Close to Snowshoe Mountain, at only 1 mile drive from the entrance to Snowshoe Mountain Resort.
This is a great spot for mountain bikers and river lovers. So close to snowshoe and affordable makes this an easy decision. Also the wildlife, flowers, and river on the property make this a truly powerful place. There is some traffic and noise from the road but it quiets down through the night and all you can hear is the trickle of the stream.
We have a lovely 20 acre are that has easy to pull up to camp sites and some that take a short walk but are able to camp right near the river bed. We offer camping for all ranges of groups and travelers. We have campsites for tents, cars and vans, big RV's and Trailers, and then group sized sites. Please contact us and we can accommodate you in any size or style. We have cheap options for the solo and travelers on budgets and we have some nice options to get furnished tents and private fireplaces, with private river views and beach/play areas.

We are an officially permitted and licensed, by the State of Virginia, campground.

We have a Charcoal Grill (includes spatula, tongs and turning fork) available to rent for $10 (fee is for entire length of stay).
Come camp on the peaceful banks of the Cowpasture river. This is a great place to come to get away from the noise and just relax. The river depth along the property ranges from a few inches to 6ft. Most sites offer partial shade. Open field area for playing games. Large communal fire pit beside the river. We also have a communal Shelter that has two booth style tables under it.
Nearby places of interest including Falling Springs waterfall, Humpback Bridge, Lake Moomaw, Douthat State Park...all within less than an hours drive.
Only a few minutes from the closest town, incase you need food, supplies, fuel, etc.

Property was owned by my great grandfather , He lost 150 acres in the early 1900's due to a bad debt from neighboring landowner. Was so happy to be able to repurchase the 150 acres back in 2016,now own the original land tract and added more. 250 acres in total. Portions were strip mined around 1978-1982 creating some flat fields and access to all property. I might add that strip mining if done properly can and does enhance the property. Ponds were built to catch runoff and several new animal species moved in waterfowl ,muskrats, and beavers. The beavers have constructed large dams on property further adding to the beauty. Have seen several bald eagles on and around the property.

Lazy River Farm has so much to offer. Tents sites are in a wooded setting, on a beautiful hill, spread out for privacy. Not at the river. Camp sites also have fire rings with wood available for you to use. Campers are welcome to use any wood that's on the ground near or around your site. Camp sites can be accessed with a high clearance 4 wheel drive vehicle or walk up the hill to your site. With easy access down to the river, by walking or driving, you can cool off in the beautiful Cow Pasture River.
Glamping in the Vardo Wagon is another option, with its close proximity to the river and cozy interior. The Gypsy Rose sleeps 2, but can sleep 2 additional guests with a tent.
Paddle boards and kayaks are available for free if you paddling near the farm. (Life jackets are limited but are required, so if you have one bring it) drop in a line to fish, or simply sit by the river and listen to the soft rapids.
Lazy River Farm is a working farm, with lovely Scottish Highland Cattle, pigs, chickens, horses and livestock guardian dogs.. Your welcome to come and pet the animals. Do not feed animals. Do not go into fields or stalls with any of them.

The cabins are primitive, no electric or water. There are solar lights inside and and out also a propane wall heater for chilly nights. This is comfortable camping in the Beautiful Mountains of WV. Located on 600 acres, we have developed the previously used agriculture land into a trail center in hopes of transforming the property from an underutilized farm into a facility that could support local outdoor recreation use and programming. Currently there are 14 miles of purpose built trails, with plans to install up to 30 miles of natural surface trails that will create access to and feature the natural beauty of the property, which includes open meadows, mature hardwood forests, rock outcroppings, an area of volcanic activity, seven freshwater springs, headwater streams (including Brook Trout habitat), and three distinct knobs. This place was absolutely beautiful! We had three families (rented two yurts and one of us tent camped). The falls are exactly as pictured and the property is so well maintained and gorgeous. We had everything we needed and Beau was an excellent host! You can tell he really loves the land and sharing it with others - he made sure we had everything we needed and checked in on us too. We spent time enjoying the waterfalls, tubing down the little river, hiked on the mountainside, and more. Perfect place to spend time outside with loved ones!!

Absolutely stunning view and it is very private. Other than the contractors building a house well below the campsite I never saw a single person. Exactly my kind of camping.
Some things to know. Be prepared for wind. You are exposed on top of a ridge. There was a strong breeze every afternoon. Then this morning about 5AM it got crazy when a storm front rolled in. I’ve been in a tent in some very high wind, but nothing like this. I’ve got a great high quality tent and even so I thought one of the poles might snap. Be prepared.
This is a good Hipcamp and I would go back. I would however encourage the owners to maybe spruce the actual site up a little. As I said the view is stunning, but the site itself is kind of a moonscape without a stitch of shade to avoid the sun, and it was HOT, unseasonably HOT for April. Did I mention it was HOT? The campsite appears to be the start of a house pad where the owners decided it was just too much effort to build. Maybe plant a couple trees and really make it something special? Just my suggestion. But all things considered it was a great trip and I recommend the property and hope to return!

If your looking for a nice, primitive campsite thats right on the Greenbrier bike trail then look no further. It comes equipped with a detached communal shower house and an outhouse at the moment. I believe they started work on bathrooms as well. The Greenbrier river runs parallel with the bike trail as well. Good spot to kayak. I camped for 3 days and had a great time. Very peaceful campsite.
