Our secluded 80-acre farm is nestled in a valley between three mountains, where two babbling creeks meet—over two miles from the nearest residence. We raise chickens, ducks, and pigs while practicing permaculture and organic farming, using solar energy for parts of our operation. Camp at the Main Circle near our home trailer, cabana, and bonfire area, with access to electricity and Wi-Fi. For a more rustic experience, Kolb Field offers a peaceful spot along Coon Creek, shaded by a majestic walnut tree. You’re also welcome to camp almost anywhere on the property to find your perfect spot.
A lightly traveled public dirt road runs through our property. While an SUV or 4x4 is recommended, regular cars can access the site, and we have parking for standard vehicles. Please check with us in advance if you plan to bring an RV. Our farm is a great destination for overland camping—perfect for getting your truck a little dirty!
We are cautiously dog-friendly. Our farm dogs patrol the property to protect our free-roaming animals, so visiting dogs must be well-behaved, leashed, and comfortable around other animals. If you're unsure about compatibility, please reach out for advice. Our dogs will come to your camp to "check you out". If your dog has a problem with other dogs that are new to them you must let us know so we can control our dogs. We have had people come with problem dogs and not tell us so, we are asking for a $1 extra that we now require as a pet fee.

We are less than a 1/4 mile from Maniac Mountain Haunted House, so you will hear the chainsaws, gun shots, and screams during the Sept-Nov time. We have 120 acres of wilderness you can explore. Be cautious of wildlife and look for WARNING signs. We have a private shooting range in the bottom fields of the property so you may hear gun shots April- September. The range is for our junior marksmanship program to practice for Nationals and local matches.
For winter months Oct-April water supply will be limited. A propane heater can be requested as well for the the yurt.

Property was owned by my great grandfather , He lost 150 acres in the early 1900's due to a bad debt from neighboring landowner. Was so happy to be able to repurchase the 150 acres back in 2016,now own the original land tract and added more. 250 acres in total. Portions were strip mined around 1978-1982 creating some flat fields and access to all property. I might add that strip mining if done properly can and does enhance the property. Ponds were built to catch runoff and several new animal species moved in waterfowl ,muskrats, and beavers. The beavers have constructed large dams on property further adding to the beauty. Have seen several bald eagles on and around the property.

This is a great spot for mountain bikers and river lovers. So close to snowshoe and affordable makes this an easy decision. Also the wildlife, flowers, and river on the property make this a truly powerful place. There is some traffic and noise from the road but it quiets down through the night and all you can hear is the trickle of the stream.
We have a lovely 20 acre are that has easy to pull up to camp sites and some that take a short walk but are able to camp right near the river bed. Camp Lucky Otter now offers a camper! It includes a short queen bed, dining nook, coffee bar, a mini fridge,+ camp essentials + space to store your things. Camp offers: a camp stove, porta potty, outdoor sink, firewood, outdoor cook area, and deck. Camp does NOT offer: an indoor kitchen or shower (yet!) Lucky Otter is half an acre of forest with beautiful, subtle views of Summersville Lake. This camp is next door to a cabin with friendly / respectful tenants. There is so much to enjoy at Lucky Otter: the lake breeze, shady forest canopy, birdsong, room for activities, camp meals, and time around the campfire. Bird sounds prevail over boat noise -- which only occurs during busy season and during the day. At night, you will drift asleep to peaceful nature noises. Lucky Otter is a haven for campers, climbers, and lake folk alike. Rest at camp or venture off to the crags (very close to the Meadow and the Lake) or nearby hiking trails. We are just minutes from Battle Run Boat Launch, Gauley River put-in, and Summersville Dam. Drive just a mere 5 minutes and explore or picnic at Carnifex Ferry State Park -- they have the best panoramic river view! Check out Ample Pizza and Freefolk Brewery -- just a quick 12 minute drive -- and halfway to the National Park! We are a quick trip to the New River Gorge National Park (about 15 miles) and just a twenty minute drive from downtown Fayetteville. All sites are spaciously separate from one another for privacy and perfect for couples who want to get away from it all, or for families or groups of friends who want to reconnect and catch up.

Camping a mile from Sutton Lake Dam in West Virginia. Our campground serves as the perfect retreat. A place to unwind, with minimal to no traffic. Off a backroad, with a few creeks to cross driving up. You are really out in nature. Our property offers lots of places to hike, although in the heart of summer, it can get a little overgrown (Plus critters, yikes!) The creek that runs up the Holler is the perfect place to explore. Low enough to tromp around and catch some minnows.

We are a working farm and do have a flock of Chickens and Guinea fowl. We also are very Kitty friendly here. Unfortunately no dogs permitted at the 'Fairyland' property. However, you can keep your friendly dog on our 'Down the Holler' site.
There is always a friendly animal to visit with. Please make sure you are respectful to our home and animals.
Keep in mind, the creek can run high in bad weather, so I recommend an all wheel drive car, or with high clearance. That being said, small cars will get through when the creek is down.
This is primitive camping. No toilet or shower our amenities are available.

This is a perfect location for doing anything in the area. It is tucked away into a little neighborhood but affords plenty of privacy. The site is so perfectly and thoughtfully put together. You can tell that the placement of everything both inside and outside of the camper was deliberate. Arriving on the first day was full of pleasant surprises that I won't spoil here. The site is well-stocked with almost anything you could possibly need. As a result, we really didn't require much from the hostess, Elle, but she made it very clear she was prepared to address any issues that might arise. It is such a charming little site and if we are ever back in in the area, we would not hesitate to stay at the Lucky Otter again.

Julie and Shannon introduced themselves and gave us a tour of the farm. They own an animal paradise. It was so beautiful and peaceful with critters everywhere. There was never a dull moment watching the dogs, horses, llamas, and much more enjoy the acres of hilly grassland. My favorites were the pigs that joined us at the campfire. We purchased eggs, honey, and homemade laundry detergent. I highly recommend. Thank you for letting us “city” folks experience your life.

unfortunately, I did not have a four-wheel-drive vehicle and my front wheel drive vehicle was not able to pull my camper up the unpaved roads that led to the campsite. The hosts were very helpful and canceled our booking. We were very disappointed because it was a beautiful property and very excited this day.

Our site was maybe 30 feet from the river - great background noise to enjoy an evening around the firepit, although didn't see any trout. Be aware, the locals cruise the streets and off road trails on noisy quads. This absolutely stopped after dark. As for nearby activities: definitely drive to Helvetia, park and walk the town. If you can visit before the end of June 2026 drop by the authentic swiss store/post office - they are closing the doors at the end of June. Definelty book a reservation at The Hutte for early dinner (they close at 6PM) for traditional swiss/German cuisine. Walk through the restaurant- it's like a local historic museum. Everybody is super friendly so remember to wave. Take it easy on the roads with your rig - they are very winding and hilly.

Private site. Lots of permanent campers around. Good price. Low cell signal on all major carriers. Host provided wifi, but seemed to disconnect randomly. Reasonably priced. Host and neighbors were welcoming. New River Gorge, 45 minutes away. Access road gravel and bumpy.

We loved Earth Sky and so did our dogs. The weather was perfect and the stars so magical. The hosts were super welcoming and informative about the area. We will definitely be back again this summer and hope to bring our kayaks and more friends.

Nik and Beth were absolutely amazing hosts!
We are novice campers and 2 lgbtq+ women so we were a bit nervous about our trip to West Virginia. But Nik and Beth made us feel so welcomed and safe!
We really enjoyed getting to chat with them by the fire our first night there. They are just lovely people. My wife especially loved their sweet dogs.
Nik went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and cared for. He even spent time letting us see their piglets and telling us about their animals! I honestly don’t think you could find better hosts.
The property is beautiful and nicely tucked away from everything. A really nice escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
The drive in was fine in our truck. I thought it was a little bit of an adventure in itself. We saw several deer on our way in and out. I would be cautious driving it at night if it’s your first time just because it does have some tight turns.
The WiFi was a plus! I had no issues with getting a signal (AT&T) but my wife did (Mint) so that was nice for her to have. Though we tried to stay off our phones as much as possible because you just want to soak up being away from it all!
We definitely want to come back and hopefully stay longer! They truly helped make our trip enjoyable, easy, and memorable! Thank you!!!
