*(PLEASE READ OUR CAMP UPDATES IN THE BELOW DESCRIPTION!* ~ Camper photos coming this weekend! ~ Camp Lucky Otter will now be offering a camper! It includes a short queen bed, dining nook, coffee bar, a mini fridge,+ camp essentials + space to store your things. Camp offers: a camp stove, porta potty, outdoor sink, firewood, and deck. Camp does NOT offer: a kitchen or indoor space to cook. Lucky Otter is half an acre of forest with beautiful, subtle views of Summersville Lake. This camp is next door to a cabin with friendly / respectful tenants. It is a shared driveway! There is a tall fence to separate camp from the cabin but it is close by. Please note that the camper itself only sleeps two -- if you book for four -- 2 folks will need to tent camp. There is so much to enjoy at Lucky Otter: the lake breeze, shady forest canopy, birdsong, room for activities, camp meals, and time around the campfire. Bird sounds prevail over boat noise -- which only occurs during busy season and during the day. At night, you will drift asleep to peaceful nature noises. Lucky Otter is a haven for campers, climbers, and lake folk alike. Rest at camp or venture off to the crags (very close to the Meadow and the Lake) or nearby hiking trails. We are just minutes from Battle Run Boat Launch, Gauley River put-in, and Summersville Dam. Drive just a mere 5 minutes and explore or picnic at Carnifex Ferry State Park -- they have the best panoramic river view! Check out Ample Pizza and Freefolk Brewery -- just a quick 12 minute drive -- and halfway to the National Park! We are a quick trip to the New River Gorge National Park (about 15 miles) and just a twenty minute drive from downtown Fayetteville. Explore Fayette Station where you can find a river front beach, waterfalls, and hiking trails. We offer the perfect spot to relax with your friends or family. Pups are totally welcome -- they must be leashed. Please note that the steep sloping hill past the two adirondack chairs at the bottom of camp that goes down to the lake is NOT our property but the Army Corps. There is so much to enjoy at Lucky Otter: the lake breeze, shady forest canopy, birdsong, room for activities, camp meals, and time around the campfire. Wander up our wooded hill to find a camp table where you can make a warm pour-over coffee and grab a board-game or frisbee for later. For your convenience, we offer a mini fridge where you can store your food / drinks. Firewood is free! The covered space under our deck also functions as a back up tent spot in the case of inclement weather. Although our log home and the neighbor's A-frame home sit adjacent to the campsite -- the site is quiet, peaceful, and quite private thanks to tall pines and a respectful and quiet neighborhood. Bird sounds prevail over boat noise -- which only occurs during busy season and during the day. At night, you will drift asleep to peaceful nature noises. Lucky Otter is reminiscent of summer camp -- under the trees, waking up with the sun, spending your day climbing, paddling, exploring, then settling in by the fire with others. This space is perfect for a romantic getaway, family camping vacation, or friend's climbing trip. Please be aware that this campsite is in the forest and next to a lake therefore wildlife may be present. We do our best to keep the site tidy to avoid any unwanted interactions with wildlife but know it is still possible. Please follow Leave No Trace principles.

We loved this beautiful location that is so convenient to all the best of West Virginia without the crowded campgrounds. The amenity station added a level of convenience that simplifies your stay and we enjoyed total privacy with the exception of a friendly neighborhood cat 😊

This spot is one of the one’s that you don’t want others to know about! Don’t pick this if you enjoy privacy and good mood vibes in a camp spot. Host was very knowledgeable of the area and a joy to meet and talk with.

Peak + Pine was a perfect weekend get away for my Fiancé and I. Elle and Mike have a really nice property right on the lake. A perfect micro climate under the cool pines after a long day on the lake in the sun. accommodations were great. This place is a gem !

This stay was incredible! Elle goes above and beyond keeping the site perfect, as well as providing amenities beyond what I've usually found at hip camps. She gave us some great recommendations about the area too! 20 minutes to New River Gorge NP bridge entrance and rafting. Multiple state parks less than five min away the feature some great rock climbing, swimming, and cliff jumping. If you're concerned about being close to the building or other property, don't be. Your space is very secluded and tucked away down a hill. Our only visitor was the local neighborhood cat, and he was great company. Driveway is a little steep, but I have a little Honda Civic that is plenty low to the ground and had no issues. Will absolutely be back.

Peak + pine was totally lovely! I loved how close it was to lake access and Fayetteville (only about a 20-minute drive). The camp itself was well-equipped with the essentials and everything I needed — even a sweet coffee station and bug spray. As a solo traveler I felt at ease that the host’s home was nearby and Elle was eager to help with anything I needed. I will definitely be back during my stays in the area!!

I loved the site! Had a cozy fire at night and woke up to Summersville lake shimmering through the trees. Climbing at the lake is literally minutes away which is a big plus for me. I'll definitely be back!

I highly recommend staying at Peak + Pine campsite! The site was gorgeous, peaceful, and private enough! As a solo traveler, I felt safe and comfortable! Elle was an amazing host who went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable and safe (terrible thunderstorm). I would definitely stay again.
