Trumpkinland Farm is part of what used to be an old dairy owned by one of the original settlers in this area. It is set in a rolling valley, surrounded by hills, mountains, and heavy forest. It is once again a dairy, with a name hearkening to Narnia, the books by C. S. Lewis. It is also, however, now a smallish family sized farm with many other species added to the mix. I raise a rare breed of dairy cow and several breeds of fiber sheep along with heritage pigs. Geese wander freely, along with a few turkeys. If you enjoy animals, there are many kinds of them here and most are friendly! Learn more about this land: First, about my farm name:  My daughter had been reading The Chronicles of Narnia when we befriended and helped an orphaned little fawn, and she immediately named it Trumpkin, after one of the characters in Narnia. This is where her Trumpkin lived and grew up, and so this became Trumpkin's land AKA Trumpkinland Farm.  Over the years a number of deer have come to trust us enough to get relatively close and eat with our animals. Come camp with your tent or self contained RV in our private woods or meadows and enjoy our wild and domestic friends, too, in the beautiful, magical inland northwest!  You can have total privacy, and yet be a short walk from the main farm and a short drive to local natural attractions. There are trails to explore in almost all directions. Some camping sites can be driven to, primarily in the upper meadow, depending on your vehicle. If choosing to be deeper in the woods,  tent camping will work best in most spots, with a carry it in and park either in the meadow or down by the farm proper. If you are tent camping, don't forget a good pad under your sleeping bag! The ground is hard, uneven, and in some places rocky! As this property is also a farm, if you run short of food supplies, or want to buy some of what is produced right here on the farm, there are many options for that! From the gardens to wild fruit foraging, farms are all about food. Farms, camping, and the woods are also about relaxing. In this cannabis friendly state, if you choose to really RELAX, please relax respectfully. A professionally maintained outhouse is provided, and you will have access to an abundance of the most delicious clean water. When the sun falls behind the mountain we will get the fire pit going (as long as we are permitted), circled with wood benches from our fallen trees. Bring your marshmallows! Here’s your permission slip to disappear for a while. Welcome to Siostry Braehaven. Fourteen acres of private, undeveloped forest at the base of Bald Mountain in northeastern Washington. And just around the mountain from Deer Lake Resort! No water. No toilet. No electricity. Just towering trees, a seasonal creek, fresh air, and whatever it is you’ve been carrying around that could use a little breathing room. The terrain is rough/bumpy ground underneath meadow grasses and bushes. If you venture up the old logging road for a better spot on the packed dirt, watch out for old stumps hiding in plain sight. Trailers not recommended up the logging road. When you book Braehaven, the entire property is yours. There are no designated campsites, so you’re free to choose your own corner of the forest. Set up beneath the pines, in one of the open meadows, or wherever feels like home for a night or two. A few areas have been cleared just enough to help keep the ticks out of your underwear. You’re welcome. Here you’ll find: * Snowberries, serviceberries, wild grasses, moss-covered rocks, and probably a few places we haven’t discovered yet * Deer, wild turkeys, songbirds, and other wildlife that call these woods home * Mosquitoes. Yellowjackets. Ants. We believe in honest advertising. Braehaven is best suited for tent campers, car campers, backpackers, camper vans, artists, writers, photographers, hammock enthusiasts, and anyone craving a little solitude. Wandering weirdos have always fit in around here. Trailers 22 feet or shorter only. Because of the primitive terrain and narrow access, we can’t accommodate larger trailers. Please leave anything over 22 feet at home. We genuinely appreciate it. The property is about 30 minutes from Spokane and roughly 10 minutes from Loon Lake. 7.2 miles to Deer Lake Resort. While neighboring parcels are large and spread out, this is still a rural community. You’ll enjoy plenty of privacy without feeling completely isolated. Pets are welcome! Because this is unfenced wilderness with wildlife and a lightly traveled rural road nearby, we recommend bringing a leash, tie-out, portable fence, or another way to keep your pet safely close by.

Level lot by the lake that was easy to park in with 24 ft trailer. Owner was nice and gave us fresh eggs. The area is quiet and it is relaxing overlooking the small lake. By late July White Mud Lake (aptly named) is not swimmable as it is mucky by the shoreline (sank into my knees) but no fault of this campsite. Nice for dog.

Site was charming, with plenty of forest cover and a pond. Folks were very cordial. Hook-ups worked. The campground sits adjacent to the highway and there are somewhat busy train tracks. But, honestly, the site was quiet enough for a restful stay. My only negative would be that the campground is comparatively expensive.

This is a nice RV park. Well maintained. Most spots are shaded. The beer/wine patio for the evening was so great. We had a blast meeting the other campers staying here. The hosts were great as well. Yes there is a train track close by and you do hear the train horn, but it is not that loud.

Weekend Trip to The Bench

My wife, our pup, and I stayed a night at the bench while on our bicycle tour of the Selkirk Loop. It was our last night of the trip and couldn’t have been better. Fantastic views, a wonderful place to sit and relax the afternoon away. Unfortunately, the weather dampened our watching of the fireworks, but the view of the fog shrouded river in the morning more than made up for it! The space is amazingly well kept and the hosts couldn’t be more welcoming. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet, peaceful time away.

It’s a bit above the river, so hiking or e-biking would be recommended if you are not with car or don’t want to break camp. The view is to die for! We hope to visit again.

We had a quick visit to The Bench and it had everything we needed. The location is beautiful and surprisingly close to town, which is great. Hosts were kind and friendly and also gave us space. Appreciated the full hookups! Would definitely stay here again!

Wow, what a great place to stay! The views here are absolutely breathtaking, and the site is right next to the coolest covered patio/gazebo with an outdoor fireplace and electric outlets! I hooked up my Starlink there, and I used the picnic table for meals. The RV site is very easy to get in and out of, has full hookups, and it overlooks their beautiful garden and yard, with the river and mountains beyond. Joel and his wife, Mercy, are great hosts and very helpful. I saw wild turkeys and deer during my stay, and I could hear owls hooting in the night. You’ll want to stay multiple days at this one!

Picturesque, clean, comfortable...even the shower floors have radiated heat! Swimming in the lake, kayaks and paddle boats. Very enjoyable.

Wonderful stay and very hospitable host, I highly recommend! Electric hookup, no water hookup. The Our son enjoyed calling to the rooster, and we enjoyed the peaceful views of the water and wildlife.
