Welcome to The Landing at Index - located on the South Fork Skykomish River, in the western foothills of the Cascade Mountains, off of Highway 2. With 16 acres of beautiful, private woods and breathtaking views of Mt. Index, this is a wonderful getaway to kick back and relax after your day of adventures, or just to escape the city rush. This is a gated property, protected with a code, which you will be sent 24 hours before your arrival. The campsites are at the bottom of a long logging road so an SUV or AWD vehicle are preferable , especially during the wetter seasons. When the property was logged approximately 100 years ago they scooped out gravel from the river to make their roads in the area thus creating the back eddy pool along the beach. A rather peaceful setting, including the rushing sound of the river and the occasional whistle of a train. You will feel refreshed and rejuvenated after you stay at The Landing. Pets are welcome, there are private outhouses at each campsite. These outhouses are protected with a code, which is sent to you 24 hours before your arrival. Campfires are allowed (when burn bans are not in place).

We have a small area, but most of it is shaded and right by the river. Learn more about this land: Come camp near the river at a fully-functional whitewater river rafting basecamp!! Our group-style camping area is ideal for small groups of people or couples. We have a total of 4 spots. Spot #1 is our largest spot, suitable for 4 or 5 two-person or three-person tents. Spot #2 is a bit smaller, ideal for up to 3 medium-sized tents. Spots 3 and 4 are suitable for two small to medium-sized tents. Camp spots are next to each other, so there's not a lot of "wild forest camping" here. We refer to it as urban camping. All spots are level and graveled. Please be aware that there is some traffic noise in the area, as we are near Highway 2. There are also picnic tables in the camping area for all campers to use as well as several hammocks.. Access to the river is very nearby. Weekend camping is limited, and you may occasionally hear the sound of a train whistle. WiFi and a fire pit are included, as well as on-site port-a-potties. Hot outdoor showers are also on-site and available to all rafters and campers. There is a large communal fire pit, but no individual campfire pits; however, the option is to bring a propane stand-alone fire pit. Fires are allowed in April, May, and June; the fire ban starts on July 1st due to wildfire concerns. No smoking and children are OK as long as they are kept under control and monitored at all times. Our property features potable water, on-site outdoor showers, and a foot-operated hand wash station. Our camping area is somewhat small and does not have grass, but it is graveled. Please be respectful of our neighbors and other campers by keeping your music at a low to medium volume. Please bring a photo ID and a credit card to complete our camper registration form. Winter tends to bring significant snowfall which makes this a great destination for winter sports as well. The property sits on top of a mountain plateau known as Harmony Heights. The site is about a 20 minute drive to Brewster or Pateros and about 40 minutes to Lake Chelan.  This is an fairly large site and will accommodate two RV's as well as plenty of area for tent camping. There is plenty of good spots to play with dogs without any conflicts. Despite the existence of year round residences and cabins this area is still very wild so you have a chance of an encounter with any critter that is native to the forests and prairies of North Central Washington. This includes but is not limited to the occasional bull snake, rattle snake, badger, black bear, mule deer, whitetail deer, moose, coyote, wolf, mountain lion, bobcat, as well as all kinds of birds including blue birds, hawks, owls, turkey, chukar, ravens, Hungarian partridge, quail, and forest grouse. From hiking to biking, off road access, hunting, or wildlife viewing, Derby Canyon offers it all. Enjoy a day in Leavenworth, the Wenatchee River, mountain bike trail, or a hike in the mountains. Though most of the area does not receive cell phone service (I have Verizon) we do get service at this site. Located about 5 miles off the county road (High ground clearance and 4x4 vehicles recommended for this forest service road leading to the campsite), cell service will fall off for the first 4 miles, however most people will have service at the site itself. Please PRINT or DOWNLOAD the directions I will email you for OFFLINE use! For now we are offering this site as a private escape campsite to enjoy the depths of nature in a serene setting. Wood fires are not allowed but we do have a propane firepit available for use free of charge - bring your own propane!

Weekend Trip to Del Rosario Family Vineyard

We had a great visit on Renato’s land. It was so beautiful and we had the place to ourselves! We did a wine tasting with Renato and his wine is delicious! It was wonderful hearing the story of his winery and learn about his love for wine making. Our dogs had so much fun playing fetch on our site. The spots are huge with plenty of room for pets and kids to run around and explore! Beautiful views of the valley to wake up to. Thank you for hosting us Renato!

Loved the site, will say be on the lookout though on wild animals as we had an overnight visit from some coyotes so keep that in mind for small animals if off leash. Only con is mainly a 1 way road once in property so when we arrived there was another vehicle trying to leave so caused some issues. Overall beautiful and clean worth the trip over!

The whole place is fantastic. Up over a ridge and then down so well away from the highway. Look like all the campsites had easy access to the water. Campsite 6 is amazing with a permanent tent and outside cover area. Well stocked with a gas BBQ and utensils. Everything is well built and very well maintained. If the weather is iffy, this is the campsite to book. David is very responsive and a great guy. Five stars and we will be back. For large groups booking campsites 1 & 6 together would work well R

I'm 74. My daughter and I enjoyed 2 nights, she in her van and me in mine. It's rare to find a quiet,secure campsite with incredible views so close and convenient. I opted to refrain from taking the short trail down to the river because it's not ideal for a man my age but kids would love it. I would recommend this spot to anyone who enjoys camping with a tent or a van--not a trailer or larger RV.

Great location with stunning views. It's definitely up there, and the road initially feels a little sketchy, but don't let that scare you. I was easily able to tow a 30ft trailer up no problem, and Chris came right out to assist and asked if I needed anything! Being so high, be prepared for wind, but if you get a night with no wind, the sunset views are amazing! I would definitely stay at these sites again!

Weekend Trip to River Recreation's Basecamp

Don's space was a decent place to spend a quick night while we were at an event in Leavenworth. Directions were clear and the site was tidy. It's located on his basecamp for river rafting, so it's convenient for a quick night or two, but wouldn't be intended for private relaxation. The white noise from the river and wind was great! The traffic noise isn't disturbing, and the train only went by once.

The landing is such a special place! All sites are gorgeous and have access to the river, the outhouse are pristine and private, and the views are to die for! We stayed in eagle #4 and it was large and could fit 3 tents if needed!
