Hi! Welcome to Custer Family Glamping! We are so glad you are here ;) Our 10-acre property is located in Custer, WA in the Northwest corner of Whatcom County. Custer is an easy 20-minute drive to Bellingham, 10-15 minutes to 2 coastal beaches (Birch Bay and Semiahmoo), and only 10 minutes to Blaine and the Canadian border. We love to host our friends and show people around our beautiful slice of the PNW🌲 We are a big family, so we designed all of our glamping sites to be kid and pet friendly and big enough to fit families of 2-6. A little luxury and ease for the grownups and a magical nature experience for the kids. Kids are allowed to "just be" here. Cellular reception isn't great but no one seems to notice. Not when they are busy building forts, roasting marshmallows and climbing up tree houses. The intention infused into all of our spaces is a Hygge* (pronounced hoo-gah) vibe. *Hygge is a calm, comfortable time with people you love. The absence of frustrations; often enjoyed with warm drinks, cozy blankets and candlelight or a fire.❤️ County Noise Statement: We love living in rural Whatcom County and we know land owners in our area love it too. In fact, their enthusiasm for the great outdoors is so high that sometimes they can generate sounds that will travel throughout the day. These are likely sounds you are not accustomed to hearing in a traditional neighborhood. Distant noises such as: -county shooting range located a few miles away -tractors -mowers & chainsaws -ATV vehicles -barking dogs -farm animals (goat, horses, crowing roosters) -wild animals (early morning bird song and owls at night) -children laughing -adult voices -train horn Evenings are generally very quiet and peaceful as night falls with the exception of holiday weekends as the enthusiasm for owning property in the country may ramp up ;) We tell you all this in order to be fully transparent about noise potential. If the potential for noise and the nearby shooting range will be a damper on your glamping experience, no worries! We totally get it! Our place is probably not the best fit. If you want to bring your kids to a place where they can build a fort, take a break from their screens and build family memories over a campfire, then you will love it here! Escape to nature without sacrificing comfort in our stunning glamping dome! Nestled in the heart of the North Cascades, this dome offers a private hot tub, outdoor kitchen with grill and fridge, a fire pit for stargazing, and WiFi for staying connected. Enjoy an outdoor bathroom and shower for a true glamping experience. With the Barr Creek trailhead just 1/4 mile away with a view of a waterfall, it’s the perfect spot for adventurers and relaxation seekers alike. Reconnect with nature in style! We are a short 11 minute drive to the North Cascades National Park! During the winter (typically end of November/early December through April/May) part of Highway 20 and driving access to the park is closed. You are still able to get to our dome using Highway 20 as that part is open all year round, but you are unable to access the park. You are able to drive to the entrance, park and snow shoe in if you'd like. The part of Highway 20 that is closed is on the west side at milepost 134 at the Ross Dam Trailhead and on the east side, at milepost 171 at the Silver Star Gate, near Mazama. An alternative hiking destination for the winter months is the Rockport State Park which is only a 4 minute drive from the dome. You are able to purchase a day pass on your phone once you arrive.

The Gem is a beautiful tiny home in a cozy setting in the woods. It has a semi private drive. Hiking trails through the woods, with a glimpse of Church mountain out the door and just a jaunt to Cornell creek. Bodigers bond across the street and the Mt. Baker/Snoqualamie national forest right out your front door. It's a 1/4 mile from Glacier, Wa and 17 miles from the Mt. Baker ski area. Please note, this cabin accommodates 3 people. I will allow 5 but there is not beds for 5 people. 2 people are welcome to sleep in a tent under the poll barn. There is an additional charge for the 2 extra people. We don't allow dogs in the Gem at this time. Feel free to check out our other cabins on the same property. The Nook and The LTC both allow dogs.

This is a beautiful spot and a great base for visiting the national park! The indoor and outdoor amenities were great - we appreciated the snacks, ample resources for cooking, and many options for getting warm (2 electric heaters, hot tub, wood fire stove, and outdoor fire pit). You can see the small road from the dome and hear a bit of highway noise, so it's not fully isolated, but that also makes it quick to get back onto the road to head to the trailhead (it took us about 1 hour to get to the Maple Pass Loop). We also checked out the Barr Creek conservation area about 0.25 miles up the road, which has a very pretty little loop trail.

Weekend Trip to Tiny A-Frame on Cascade River

I loved staying at this A-frame right on the Cascade river. The A-frame was clean and the outdoor area well-maintained. The location was private, and was great location to explore the cascades, including the National Park and surrounding area. Make sure to come prepared with everything you need and including extra propane for the provided stove as the closest stores take a little to get to. Otherwise this was exactly what we looking for to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing weekend. Host was a great communicator and instructions were easy to follow for check in. Definitely would recommend and would stay again

My wife and I camped with our 1 year old and 3 year old and absolutely loved the A-Frame and campsite. It's truly private and surrounded by beautiful aspens, and perched above the Cascade river. The A-frame is simple but thoughtfully detailed and well finished. Even the way it is oriented on the site is well thought out and optimizes for good views. It was really a great introduction to camping for our kids and we will be back

BRING BUG REPELLANT Hands down my favorite Hipcamp yet! Gorgeous location, top notch amenities (outdoor cooking area, shower, toilet, fire pit, hot tub + dreamy dome), and a very responsive and supportive host. This spot made me and my partner feel like our dreams of getting away from the city are even more attainable. Will definitely be coming back! Note: my partner and I are scent sensitive (fragrances make us sick) and this place was scent free minus what I’m assuming is cedar from the wood used to build - no chemical scents or fragrances! *we brought our own soap and dish soap so I can’t speak to what was in the meyers cleaning bottles (usually *very* fragranced).

This campsite was everything my kids and I could have hoped for—and more! From the moment we arrived, it felt like stepping into a dream. The treehouse alone was worth the trip—cozy, creative, and so much fun for the kids (and me too, let’s be honest). It had the perfect balance of adventure and comfort. What truly blew me away was how thoughtfully everything was set up. They didn’t miss a single detail. We had everything we needed—from kitchen essentials to little touches like a speaker for music, which made our evenings around the fire feel extra special. You can tell this place was created by someone who genuinely understands what makes camping feel effortless and memorable. It was peaceful, clean, and had that magical “hidden gem” vibe. We’ve already talked about coming back, and I can’t recommend it enough to other families looking for an escape that blends nature with comfort. Hands down one of our favorite trips ever!

We had a great time glamping for the first time at Sheila's dome! Loved the personal note and bottle of wine from Sheila upon our arrival and how responsive she was for any of our questions. The place is super unique and has everything you could ask for: electricity, wifi, appliances, propane grill, hot tub, HOT water for showering, clean toilet (compost), wood for the wood burning furnace, and space heaters. If you forget any groceries, Red Apple is about 15 minutes away by car. It got chilly at night but there was plenty of blankets and we turned on the space heater for warmth. During our stay, we explored Rockport State Park, Barr Creek conservation area, Diablo Lake, and the North Cascades Visitor Center. We highly recommend staying here!

This place was a great find! My daughter and I were so happy with our stay here. Everything was very clean when we arrived. The little kitchenette was perfect for our needs, and we enjoyed several simple meals. The bathroom is tiny but completely functional. There is only about 4-5 minutes of hot water for showering, but that’s enough if you know about it ahead. The location is terrific, close to beautiful trails and a slightly longer drive to Mt Baker. The host provided great instructions—definitely screenshot them as she suggests because there is no cell phone service in the area. We couldn’t figure out the animal-proof trashcan, unfortunately, felt bad about that because we had to rush out to make our boat on the last day. This place had everything we needed, and we’d love to visit again!

I absolutely loved staying at the Tiny A-Frame on Cascade River! The cabin feels perfectly tucked away and secluded, with the peaceful sound of the river right outside, it made for such a relaxing and cozy getaway. Everything was clean, well-kept, and just as pictured. The only thing to note is that the toilet is a short walk from the cabin, but it wasn’t a big deal at all. Would definitely recommend this spot if you’re looking to unwind and disconnect in nature!

We stayed at the glamping spot for a weekend, and absolutely loved it. The location is very private, and surrounded by trees making is very cozy. The bed was very comfortable and the comforter was soft kept us warm during the night. The place is well stocked with blankets, utensils, spices, slippers and bathroom necessities. The host even left us some snacks, smores kit and a bottle of wine and a hand written note welcoming us, which was so very kind and generous. The space heaters came in handy when we didn’t want to use the wood fire. The outdoor grill and gas stove were clean as well, and easy to use. The fridge is small, but it is sufficient for 3-4 day trip. The hot tub was clean, and the outdoor shower next to it helped rinse off before and after hot tub. The outhouse/toilet was clean as well, and its about -10 ft from the tent. The outdoor grill and hot tub are covered with umbrellas so you dont get wet if it rains. There are a couple of restaurants, a coffee shop and a convenience store 10 min drive from the unit if you don’t want to cook yourself. It is close enough to North Cascades national park, and we drove to Lake Diablo which was magical!

This place truly was the highlight of our little getaway to the North Cascades. The dome was such a fun magical experience and the hosts go out of their way to make sure the space reflects that. Amenities are endless, it is quiet and serene with so much to do in the nearby area. We did a lot of cooking in the space and with multiple options like the grill, stovetop burner, mini fridge, and fire pit… the opportunities are endless! We would go again in a heartbeat! You will have a great time ❤️

Perfectly remote, but close enough if you forget anything. We LOVED getting to jot down the road and be in the cascades! Beautiful greenery, cozy bed, nice amenities!
