Welcome to the Hemlock Ridge Homestead! This custom log home built in the early 2000's was a dream of mine since I was 8 years old. Our family lives here year round and absolutely love it. These sites are on a seasonal road so travel in and out can be impeded at times due to weather or external forces, such as tree falls, wash outs, etc. This is a self sufficient homestead in the making. Our garden has progressed greatly, and our fruit tree orchards are starting to produce. The free range chickens are fun and quirky, offering farm fresh eggs. We just opened our second site, the Prairieview Chalet 2024 summer. Both sites offer great amenities. The Acorn Retreat cabin includes a hot tub, gas weber grill and other amenities. The boujee outhouse is shared by both sites and is cleaned regularly.
The new Prairieview Chalet is an exceptional adventurers haven! It has all the things you want after a day(s) out in the wilderness, with amenities like a hot shower, fully stocked kitchen, linens and more.
Our property reflects our love of the land and space. We are always making improvements, such as the timber framed chicken coop. We now have a ping pong table for our guests, and still offer farm fresh eggs.

This property has 2 tent sites at the western base of Hogback Mountain.
Site 1, The Falls Site, is located on a spring fed stream.
The hike from parking to tent site is 1/4 mile on a well-marked hilly path.
Campers can park at the main property on County Road HD or on the Garden Road, and will need to pack supplies to their site.
Site 2, The Garden Site, is 100 feet from the stream and campers can drive to and park their vehicles at the site.
Site 3, Mountain View Cabin, includes an outhouse and sauna.
Sites have picnic tables, fire pits, and an outhouse.
Campers are responsible for removal of all other waste.
The 2-foot wide stream provides water for washing, but is not considered potable, and use of filters or boiling water is recommended.
These isolated sites are beautiful and rustic and nestled in the midst of the Noquemanon Trail Network (cross country skiing and mountain biking) and North Country Trails and are approximately 2 miles from Lake Superior, Harlow Lake and Dead River.

Bear Tree Homestead is nestled among the cliffs and ravines which drains the south face of Hogback Mountain located in Marquette Township Michigan.
Hogback Mountain is one of the larger rock formations in the Huron Range, a surprisingly rugged, and diverse region of low mountains carved by glaciers.
Each cabin is hand-built of log and stone using traditional Scandinavian building tools and techniques. The cabins have access to the pond, use of the canoe, a private fire pit, picnic table, charcoal grill and privy. Inside the cabins is a functional kitchen with dishes, flatware, pots and pans, so you can prepare meals onsite. Cabins also have table and chairs as well soft chairs/sofa sitting area, bookshelves with a variety of books, board games and puzzles, and covered porch in case of rain.
Our buildings, gardens, and pastures are integrated into the forested landscape and are not your typical homestead. Enjoy the peaceful surroundings, collect fresh eggs (when they are laying), lay in the hammock, listen to the sounds of nature and the barnyard or take an adventure hike, bike ride, snowshoe, or ski right out the door.
One of the most wonderful things we have to offer is the accessibility to thousands of protected acres surrounding us and the trails that bisect them. The property is on the North Country Trail, just over a Noquemanon Trail Network Forestville trailhead where access to year round recreation awaits. Hogback Mountain is just up the trail from the cabin with spectacular views of forest, mountains and lake superior.
We are located 8 miles from downtown Marquette in Michigan's Upper Peninsula where there are many great restaurants, shops, and brewpubs.
However, once you drive into Bear Tree Homestead and settle in you will not want to leave.

Hello, and welcome to Superior Times Resort and Campground!
We would like to take a moment and introduce ourselves. Our names are Tom and Heather Holmstrom. We were married in 2016 and have four children as part of our blended family. We are both originally from the Upper Peninsula. Superior Times Resort and Campground was the result of us wanting to do something “outside of the box” that would allow us to raise our family and show them there is more out there than the traditional path. We also wanted showcase our love and respect for the beauty of the Upper Peninsula; the area that many refer to as “God’s Country.”
In December of 2016, we mistakenly pulled into the driveway of this property. At that time, it was known as Coleman’s Paradise Resort. There was a For Sale sign marking the property. We both knew at that point our fate was sealed to become this property’s new owners. We learned that this property had been a family vacation destination for nearly 100 years. We could only imagine the special memories that had been made here over the years! We wanted to become a part of that deep history.
Through the many years of the resort’s history, the owners had changed and the cabins were showing true signs of their age. We knew there was A LOT of work that simply had to be done. On a wing and prayer, we somehow made this great resort ours. In April of 2017, we opened what we named Superior Times Resort and Campground. We pulled up or sleeves and went to work!

Your host property is 13 acres between the Yellow Dog River, and Bear Lake, with frontage on both. The Yellow Dog River is a legendary trout stream, and many artists have found that the river satisfies their need for the wild. There are two cabin sites available, One overlooking Bear Lake with sunset views, and the other a cabin that was moved to the property in 1999 to preserve it.
Both sites share amenities such as the outhouse, communal fire pit and water, but the cabins are not in close proximity so everyone has their privacy. They are both rustic cabins having no running water, or electricity. A futon with mattress cover is provided in each cabin along with a table and chairs. See the individual site descriptions for more details.
We are 20 miles (app) north of Marquette, which is my home town. It is a destination for bikers, skiiers, and outdoor rec folk! There are so many things to see and do in Marquette, so make sure to plan enough time to check out the town! Also, just six miles to our north is historic Big Bay. A lumber town back in the day, it is full of history. Check out the Thunder Bay Inn, where parts of Anatomy of a Murder, starring Jimmy Stewart and Lee Remick were filmed. Don't miss going to the Lumberjack to see where the actual murder took place, either! You will find good eats and perhaps even some live music at either establishment. You'll also find everything you need in the way of groceries, and gas at Cram's General Store, where there's also a laundromat. Burns landing just north of the marina has the historic Burns family home renovated in a park setting, and a public beach access to mighty Lake Superior. This park has picnic tables and grills, and even a handicap accessible outhouse and trail to the lake.
Yellow Dog falls is a short drive on Co. Road 510, and on the way be sure to climb Thomas Rock overlook. There are new bike trails if you're into that as well! Stay awhile. You'll be glad you did!
We strive to offer peace and serenity to our guests, and love to share these woods with those needing tranquility and respite from a busy world. In this sensitive environmental area, we have only two sites to keep traffic down, enhance our visitors experience, and to protect the wildlife here.

We are available by text, through the booking message center, or phone if you have any questions before or during your stay.
Our home is less than a mile from the casino, Foggy’s Steakhouse, and a gas station. You are only about 5 miles from downtown Munising, where there are Pictured Rocks Cruises, Glass Bottom Boat Tours, Sand Point Beach, waterfalls, etc. In Munising, there is a grocery store (Pat’s Foods), Family Dollar, a couple of hardware stores, and numerous restaurants.
There is room to bring a boat if you have one, and there is public access to Lake Superior within 5 miles of home. There is also room to bring snowmobile/ATV trailers, and then you can ride from the home to hit the trails.
**Signed rental agreement and security deposit hold required for all reservations. The primary guest will need to upload a picture of a government-issued ID and list the names and ages of all other guests in their group.
**There are 2 exterior audio/video recording devices on the property. One faces the front door of the home with the driveway, and the other faces the back door. They are motion-activated and on 24/7/365.

You can ride right from the home to miles and miles of groomed snowmobile trails in the winter or ORV trails in the summer. There’s plenty of room to park trucks and trailers for bringing your toys up. Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore begins in Munising, which is only about 5 miles east of the home.
Our home was recently gutted down to the studs and completely remodeled. We opened up the living room/kitchen area and added a bathroom and brought the washer and dryer up to the main level. There’s a brand new 65” Roku TV in the living room and we have fiber optic wireless internet. We also added a tankless hot water heater so everybody gets a hot shower! We supply a crock pot, blender, drip coffee maker, and all the necessities to cook a meal at home. There’s a nice, large foyer with a bench and a shelf with hooks with plenty of room to store all your coats, bibs, helmets, boots, etc.

Welcome to the Hemlock Ridge Homestead! This custom log home built in the early 2000's was a dream of mine since I was 8 years old. Our family lives here year round and absolutely love it. These sites are on a seasonal road so travel in and out can be impeded at times due to weather or external forces, such as tree falls, wash outs, etc. This is a self sufficient homestead in the making. Our garden has progressed greatly, and our fruit tree orchards are starting to produce. The free range chickens are fun and quirky, offering farm fresh eggs. We just opened our second site, the Prairieview Chalet 2024 summer. Both sites offer great amenities. The Acorn Retreat cabin includes a hot tub, gas weber grill and other amenities. The boujee outhouse is shared by both sites and is cleaned regularly.
The new Prairieview Chalet is an exceptional adventurers haven! It has all the things you want after a day(s) out in the wilderness, with amenities like a hot shower, fully stocked kitchen, linens and more.
Our property reflects our love of the land and space. We are always making improvements, such as the timber framed chicken coop. We now have a ping pong table for our guests, and still offer farm fresh eggs.

This property has 2 tent sites at the western base of Hogback Mountain.
Site 1, The Falls Site, is located on a spring fed stream.
The hike from parking to tent site is 1/4 mile on a well-marked hilly path.
Campers can park at the main property on County Road HD or on the Garden Road, and will need to pack supplies to their site.
Site 2, The Garden Site, is 100 feet from the stream and campers can drive to and park their vehicles at the site.
Site 3, Mountain View Cabin, includes an outhouse and sauna.
Sites have picnic tables, fire pits, and an outhouse.
Campers are responsible for removal of all other waste.
The 2-foot wide stream provides water for washing, but is not considered potable, and use of filters or boiling water is recommended.
These isolated sites are beautiful and rustic and nestled in the midst of the Noquemanon Trail Network (cross country skiing and mountain biking) and North Country Trails and are approximately 2 miles from Lake Superior, Harlow Lake and Dead River.

Bear Tree Homestead is nestled among the cliffs and ravines which drains the south face of Hogback Mountain located in Marquette Township Michigan.
Hogback Mountain is one of the larger rock formations in the Huron Range, a surprisingly rugged, and diverse region of low mountains carved by glaciers.
Each cabin is hand-built of log and stone using traditional Scandinavian building tools and techniques. The cabins have access to the pond, use of the canoe, a private fire pit, picnic table, charcoal grill and privy. Inside the cabins is a functional kitchen with dishes, flatware, pots and pans, so you can prepare meals onsite. One of the most wonderful things we have to offer is the accessibility to thousands of protected acres surrounding us and the trails that bisect them. The property is on the North Country Trail, just over a Noquemanon Trail Network Forestville trailhead where access to year round recreation awaits. Hogback Mountain is just up the trail from the cabin with spectacular views of forest, mountains and lake superior.
We are located 8 miles from downtown Marquette in Michigan's Upper Peninsula where there are many great restaurants, shops, and brewpubs.
However, once you drive into Bear Tree Homestead and settle in you will not want to leave.

Hello, and welcome to Superior Times Resort and Campground!
We would like to take a moment and introduce ourselves. Our names are Tom and Heather Holmstrom. We were married in 2016 and have four children as part of our blended family. We are both originally from the Upper Peninsula. Superior Times Resort and Campground was the result of us wanting to do something “outside of the box” that would allow us to raise our family and show them there is more out there than the traditional path. We also wanted showcase our love and respect for the beauty of the Upper Peninsula; the area that many refer to as “God’s Country.”
In December of 2016, we mistakenly pulled into the driveway of this property. At that time, it was known as Coleman’s Paradise Resort. There was a For Sale sign marking the property. We both knew at that point our fate was sealed to become this property’s new owners. We learned that this property had been a family vacation destination for nearly 100 years. We could only imagine the special memories that had been made here over the years! We wanted to become a part of that deep history.
Through the many years of the resort’s history, the owners had changed and the cabins were showing true signs of their age. We knew there was A LOT of work that simply had to be done. On a wing and prayer, we somehow made this great resort ours. In April of 2017, we opened what we named Superior Times Resort and Campground. We pulled up or sleeves and went to work!

Your host property is 13 acres between the Yellow Dog River, and Bear Lake, with frontage on both. The Yellow Dog River is a legendary trout stream, and many artists have found that the river satisfies their need for the wild. There are two cabin sites available, One overlooking Bear Lake with sunset views, and the other a cabin that was moved to the property in 1999 to preserve it.
Both sites share amenities such as the outhouse, communal fire pit and water, but the cabins are not in close proximity so everyone has their privacy. They are both rustic cabins having no running water, or electricity. A futon with mattress cover is provided in each cabin along with a table and chairs. See the individual site descriptions for more details.
We are 20 miles (app) north of Marquette, which is my home town. It is a destination for bikers, skiiers, and outdoor rec folk! There are so many things to see and do in Marquette, so make sure to plan enough time to check out the town! Also, just six miles to our north is historic Big Bay. A lumber town back in the day, it is full of history. Check out the Thunder Bay Inn, where parts of Anatomy of a Murder, starring Jimmy Stewart and Lee Remick were filmed. Don't miss going to the Lumberjack to see where the actual murder took place, either! You will find good eats and perhaps even some live music at either establishment. You'll also find everything you need in the way of groceries, and gas at Cram's General Store, where there's also a laundromat. Burns landing just north of the marina has the historic Burns family home renovated in a park setting, and a public beach access to mighty Lake Superior. This park has picnic tables and grills, and even a handicap accessible outhouse and trail to the lake.
Yellow Dog falls is a short drive on Co. Road 510, and on the way be sure to climb Thomas Rock overlook. There are new bike trails if you're into that as well! Stay awhile. You'll be glad you did!
We strive to offer peace and serenity to our guests, and love to share these woods with those needing tranquility and respite from a busy world. In this sensitive environmental area, we have only two sites to keep traffic down, enhance our visitors experience, and to protect the wildlife here.

Our home is less than a mile from the casino, Foggy’s Steakhouse, and a gas station. You are only about 5 miles from downtown Munising, where there are Pictured Rocks Cruises, Glass Bottom Boat Tours, Sand Point Beach, waterfalls, etc. In Munising, there is a grocery store (Pat’s Foods), Family Dollar, a couple of hardware stores, and numerous restaurants.
There is room to bring a boat if you have one, and there is public access to Lake Superior within 5 miles of home. There is also room to bring snowmobile/ATV trailers, and then you can ride from the home to hit the trails.
**Signed rental agreement and security deposit hold required for all reservations. The primary guest will need to upload a picture of a government-issued ID and list the names and ages of all other guests in their group.
**There are 2 exterior audio/video recording devices on the property. One faces the front door of the home with the driveway, and the other faces the back door. They are motion-activated and on 24/7/365.

We are conveniently located right on M28, about 1/4 mile west of Foggy’s Steakhouse and next to the entrance of Pictured Rocks RV & Campground. You can ride right from the home to miles and miles of groomed snowmobile trails in the winter or ORV trails in the summer. There’s plenty of room to park trucks and trailers for bringing your toys up. Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore begins in Munising, which is only about 5 miles east of the home.
Our home was recently gutted down to the studs and completely remodeled. We opened up the living room/kitchen area and added a bathroom and brought the washer and dryer up to the main level. There’s a brand new 65” Roku TV in the living room and we have fiber optic wireless internet. We also added a tankless hot water heater so everybody gets a hot shower! We supply a crock pot, blender, drip coffee maker, and all the necessities to cook a meal at home. There’s a nice, large foyer with a bench and a shelf with hooks with plenty of room to store all your coats, bibs, helmets, boots, etc.

Weekend Trip to Bear Tree Homestead
Me and my boyfriend had an incredible time staying at Jill & Nick’s homestead. We stayed at the Pond Cabin in February, and it was magical! The cabin stays very very warm with the wood fired stove. Jill & Nick go above and beyond with ensuring things in the cabin are stocked, well taken care of, and clean. They are also very communicative and helpful. The location of the cabin was perfect, and the sound of the birds singing and roosters crowing in the morning is something I am missing after our stay. Will be back for sure!

Weekend Trip to Rudolph's Cabin
This is the cutest coziest cabin ever! Wonderfully renovated and such welcoming host's. Exploring the pictured rocks area during the winter was amazing, such beautiful ice formations. Hot tub was so nice to get into after the cold hikes. We had some road closed in town and was unable to get to the cabin on the first night but we were reimbursed and the host was super helpful with keeping us informed. 10/10 would stay here again!

Weekend Trip to Bear Tree Homestead
While I’m sure the experience is different in the summer vs the winter, it was a perfect snow globe getaway for us. From the narrow plowed roads to the cozy fire warmed rustic cabin to the picture perfect pond and property, it was a great experience for us.
We used it as basecamp and while it felt like you were in the middle of nowhere, the endless options within 15 minutes is a hard find and is perfect if you don’t want to travel far to enjoy your time.
We spent the evenings hunkered down in the dimly lit cabin and enjoyed just sitting and staring at the pond, ducks and immediate surrounding area.
A true winter wonderland for this stay and would love to return in the summer and experience what I would guess, a much different adventure next time. Thank you for having us.

Weekend Trip to Bear Tree Homestead
My wife and I enjoyed snowshoeing and cross country skiing around the beautiful property and nearby park area. We loved the rustic setting with the beautiful highland cattle, chickens and friendly dogs we met on our walks. The sauna was anther highlight of our visit. We will absolutely be back again.

The Orchard Cabin was like living in a fantastic dream - life slowed down and we had a chance to reconnect. The cabin is super clean, had comfortable beds, a warm masonry fireplace and electricity. Not difficult to find if you pay careful attention to directions. Kitchen was fully stocked with cooking equipment. Take advantage of the sauna!! We arrived during a blizzard (we have a 4x4) and Jill was a great communicator. The dogs were friendly and we were so glad to meet Jill and her husband. Also so grateful to be able to bring our pup.

Out time at the bear tree homestead was incredible. The cabin was well stocked with anything we could need, as well as books and board games for the quiet evenings. Jill and her family were absolutely wonderful and welcoming and they're dogs wondering the property were wonderful hosts. Booked a cabin at bear tree homestead about a month in advance in the winter, as a calm getaway. We couldn’t be more pleased with the friendly and relaxed atmosphere that Nick and Jill. Can’t wait for our next opportunity to make the trek out to their place and enjoy everything the site has to offer. Their communication was top notch and very helpful, especially with the record two feet of snow we got during our stay. One of the best amenities is the direct access from their property to the North Country Trail, and several other trails that can be hiked on.

This was our second stay at the Orchard House, and it was every bit as magical as the first! Jill continues to be the perfect host — warm, attentive, and full of thoughtful touches (including another batch of her amazing homemade cookies!). The house itself is absolutely enchanting, from its cozy, well-appointed rooms to the peaceful property that feels like a true escape from the world.
We loved being so close to the Hogback trailhead — it makes for the perfect day hike before coming back to unwind in such a serene setting. We can’t wait to return and try out the new sauna on our next visit!
If you’re considering a stay at the Orchard House, don’t hesitate — it’s the kind of place that fills your soul and leaves you with memories you’ll want to relive again and again.

From the moment we arrived at the Pond Cabin, everything we experienced exceeded our expectations. The cabin itself was cute, cozy, and very clean. It had a lot more kitchen and camping supplies than we expected. Loved the layout. It comfortably slept three adults and two dogs.
The woods surrounding it and the pond are very beautiful and serene. No road sounds or artificial light, just peaceful nature and the quaint farmhouse. We were welcomed by our gracious hosts and their dogs who made us feel very at home, were so friendly, and made great recommendations for hikes and experiences.
The hike to Hogback mountain is a must. The view from the top and fall colors were just breathtaking and you can walk there right from the cabin! We spent most of a day hiking the NCT and were just blown away by the trails and views.
None of us knew how great the traditional Finnish sauna and cold plunge (into the crystal clear spring fed pond?!?) would relax and rejuvenate us. Wow!
Also worth mentioning it’s an easy, very pretty drive to Pictured Rocks. You can do it all.
All I can say is we will definitely be back and would recommend it to anyone who’s looking for what must be the ultimate UP experience.

Loved the location! Just far enough into the wilderness to have the right "feel", yet close enough to town for anything Marquette offers. Warm, comfortable cabin with a wonderful, old northwoods character and rustic charm. Wish we could have stayed for a week.

The cabin was perfect, the land was beautiful, beds are quite comfy, oil lamps and fire are ever so cozy and the cookies so tasty. Hogback mountain trail is very close by and well worth the venture if you can manage a bit of a scramble at lest once. One evening here was not sufficient, we definitely plan to return.
Well worth checking out if taking a trip to the area or just looking to go somewhere beautiful and peaceful to retreat from the world for a while.

1 night at Christmas Campsites 1 & 2
RV was clean and very well stocked on the inside. Interior looked brand new, and the campsite overlooked a pretty meadow surrounded by trees. Cute S'Mores bucket inside with everything you'd need. Convenient location, was able to do an evening hike to Mosquito Beach from this location. Why stay in a campground and spend thousands of dollars on your own RV when you can just stay here! Highly recommend Captain Ron's for fresh, hand-processed whitefish. Thanks Danielle!
