We tend to “rise with the Sun, and sleep when it’s done”, so don’t be surprised if you see David or myself, or our kids playing/working on site. If you like to chat, we’re usually available, if you like your privacy, we respect that too. There are a handful of neighbors, and sometimes cars travel up or down the road, but generally this is a quiet, peaceful area. Our two old time scotch collies keep most wildlife away, but once in a while you get a glimpse of turkey, or hawks, rabbits, etc…. We try to keep your need to bring much to a minimum, so we provide plenty of blankets and pillows ( or sleeping bag if desired), dishes and some cookware for over-the-fire meals, towels and wash cloths if a rain barrel “cat bath” is in order :), hand soap and toilet paper too! Life is in constant fluctuation up here at our mountain home, which is how we like it! Camp out with us and see why!

Has a full bed with linens provided in the bedroom. Also a full air mattress,  and a cot size mattress in the loft. (Bring sleeping bags or linens for these beds.) Pillows are provided. The loft is not suitable for young children. Has a solar bag shower outside in season. Compost bucket in the bathroom.  MUST HAVE A ALL WHEEL DRIVE or 4 X 4 VEHICLE, or could hike up to the cabin. The rode is steep in places.  Behind a locked gate. We will meet and take you to cabin. You will be given a key to use. Cabin is .8 of a mile off of Jordan Run Rd. and is around 5 miles to the entrance of forest rd 75 and 2 1/2 miles to entrance of forest rd 19. Has beautiful mountain views from above cabin (see pictures). Can see the top of dolly sods from cabin. Has a propane wall heater and wood stove for chilly nights. Fire wood is provided.  You can hike or bike on roads on the property. In the winter if there was snow you could bring snowshoes and hike up to cabin and if you had skis you could ski back off to your vehicle or could cross country ski on  one of the roads on the property.  Cabin is 15 to 20 minutes from Seneca Rocks, Smoke Hole caverns is 8 to 10 minutes, Canaan and Timberline ski resorts are 45 to 55 minutes away. Local streams are stocked with trout. No pets, no smoking in or near the cabin. No drugs or parties allowed. There is a smoke detector, a carbon dioxide detector, and a fire extinguisher. There is bears and other animals around. Don't leave your trash or food out at nights. We absolutely loved this stay. John and Suzanne are so incredibly kind and inviting. We noticed a small problem with our tent when we first arrived, and before we could put all of our things down, John had already fixed it. Everything we needed was provided and even goods we didn’t know we needed- including a homegrown breakfast of eggs and tomatoes. We received great directions and recommendations that were incredibly helpful. We would absolutely come back again.

We had a wonderful time staying at MountainTop! From the idyllic surroundings to the cozy cabin, everything was lovely. Ed was an especially responsive, accommodating host. With such apparent care, he has created a space that is both welcoming to human visitors and mindful of the plants and animals who make the area their home.

Weekend Trip to Our Farm in Strasburg, VA

We had a wonderful stay at Half-Moon. We arrived a bit later, and were greeted by the soft bells and glowing eyes of sheep out in the field. The walk to half-moon was easy, and the wood chip path felt great underfoot. The available wagon was a nice touch, though we didn't have much to carry in. The site itself felt private, and the outhouse was clean and comfortable. Inside the dome, the setup felt cozy, the perfect clamping experience without any unnecessary frills. We appreciated the dark skies, quiet surroundings, and local wildlife (heard an eastern screech owl in the night!). We would love to return, with more time to enjoy a fire, and some of the local farm offerings!

The area was very relaxing and quiet. The Yurts was clean and comfortable. Annette answers questions quickly. The only thing complaint I have is the smell of the shower water. It smells like sewer water.

What an amazing campsite! Hats off to the owners that did a great job on the build out of the school bus. The site has everything you would need from a cooking station inside to functional grill out private outdoor shower and porta potty as well as hammock and fire pit. I appreciate the steps that we’re built to get down to the river for tubing and swimming. most of the campground is covered in mulch with cuts down on dirt and kept our puppy on the cleaner side.

Weekend Trip to B and M Journey Farm

Brittany and Mike are two of the kindest, most thoughtful, fun people we've met. A true joy to spend the weekend on their property with family and friend for our camp wedding. It was the most perfect setting and the most perfect weekend we could have imagined. The barn is out of a storybook, natural, lovely, and it was perfect for us to use to eat meals, dance the night away, and for a couple family member to sleep in. It kept us dry from the rain and had everything we needed. The cottage is beautifully renovated and the cutest place to stay full of everything you need - coffee, AC, a bathtub. It was the perfect getaway our second night staying after we camped in a tent the first night. Their land is stunning sitting up high with a beautiful view of the mountains and the vineyard. The greenhouse that sits on their property is such a unique and awesome place to relax in the mornings with a view of the mountains and the land. The animals are another awesome touch - everyone in our crew absolutely loved hanging out with the goats, cows, and puppies and it made for an unforgettable, lovely weekend. The property is so big with such wonderful camping spots, and we will absolutely be back! Thank you Brittany and Mike for allowing us to have our wedding here without any hesitation. We couldn't have dreamed up a better weekend. We are already looking forward to coming back to the cottage for our anniversary!

Stayed in the orange cabin and it was great. Cabin was clean. The views are great and everything they advertised was true. Mt bike trails were well maintained. This was my second time visiting the farm because of my kid being in a camp. Last year I stayed in a tent. For this year, the cabin was a wonderful upgrade. If you are looking for a clean off grid cabin in the heart of great mt biking, this is a great option.
