All within a short driving distance are the Natural Bridge, wineries, breweries, Natural Bridge Zoo, Safari Park, Dinosaur Kingdom, Appalachian Trail, Blue Ridge Parkway, James River, historic Lexington, Devil's Marbleyard, Glenwood Horse Trail, swimming holes, etc. We have river access 2 miles up the road if you'd like to fish or put your kayak or canoe in. Truly, there is something nearby for everyone. We'd be happy to give you recommendations of things to see and do. If you are a star gazer you won't be disappointed by our dark sky. Our property was a small family farm for several generations. Our family purchased the property about 18 years ago. Since we are not farmers but love living here, the question became "What would be the best use for the land?" Living in a scenic area and already being in the vacation rental business on some other family property answered the question. Our goal was to keep the cost of building down so that we could pass on the savings to you so that you would not have to be rich to enjoy our lovely area. This inspired the idea of a glamping cabin. The cabin is actually a repurposed office building that was built about the time this property was purchased by our family. We moved it to the present location and completely remodelled it in 2018 and added the bathroom. For 4 years, guests enjoyed an off-the-grid experience. In 2023, when we began work on the glamping dome (stay tuned--coming soon!!), we decided to add electricity, running water, and a hot tub to the tiny house! I had a great time staying in the cabin, what a wonderful place! Camping but without the tent and mountain biking / hiking most of the day. It doesn’t get much better in my opinion!

Stayed in the orange cabin and it was great. Cabin was clean. The views are great and everything they advertised was true. Mt bike trails were well maintained. This was my second time visiting the farm because of my kid being in a camp. Last year I stayed in a tent. For this year, the cabin was a wonderful upgrade. If you are looking for a clean off grid cabin in the heart of great mt biking, this is a great option.

Weekend Trip to Hawthorn Hollar

Moon and Julie were wonderful hosts. I had booked the weekend of the 4th of july and unfortunately the week before a heat wave was announced to roll in. My group decided to not cancel the trip and give it a shot, but 1 night outside with a heat index of 110 was too much, and we called the trip short. The hosts were very understanding and even refunded the second day, which according to the terms of our booking they absolutely were not required to do. I knew the risk when I accepted the booking. The campground itself is very beautiful and I plan on returning during better weather early this fall. I highly recommend this place. Also, as a bonus I learned that Moon is an avid reader so we had plenty to talk about, as I am a literature nerd myself.

Weekend Trip to Thunder BRidge

Enjoyed our stay. We were looking for somewhere close to Natural Bridge and Devils Marble Yard. Can’t really beat the exact middle. Facilities were clean as expected. Cabin was as described. Recommended to our friends already.

Weekend Trip to Indian Camp Lane

The tiny cottage by the wood line on the back of this huge property is private, quiet and delivered an enjoyable rustic feel for us. Billy (the dog) literally guided our car all the way back to the rental. The host was amazing and responds promptly to any questions or concerns. The large fire pit was a great place for roasting hotdogs and s'mores. 10/10 would enjoy a return visit for a quiet, secluded rest.

Wow what an experience. Ed and family really have the place set up well. The land is well kept where necessary but left wild everywhere else. We spent hours in the pond swimming and fishing as well. My 8 and 10 year old loved the place and explored it with curiosity. Thank you for letting us share your slice of "almost heaven". We will be back again. And to the fellow hipcamper. If youre on the fence for any reason. I suggest you get off that fence and book this place. You won't regret it.

Weekend Trip to MountainTop

I spent a few days here with my son and it was wonderful! The cabin is great, and has everything you need. The deck facing one of the ponds is wonderful and a great place to sit and hear the fish jumping out of the water, the frogs, and birds. The river is fun and was one of our favorite spots. My son looked and found lots of salamanders, snails, and fish.

We had a wonderful time at Ed's cabin and hope to return soon! The cabin was cute and cozy, providing just enough space for my wife, myself, and our dog. The property it sits on is really the star of the show! Its clear that so much care and attention has been put into the surrounding property to cultivate a truly wonderful and special ecosystem for the plants and wildlife.

Woodpecker 1 was amazing for our daughter’s first time camping. The inside was clean of all bugs. Just a short walk to the pavilion and bathroom. The camp itself is very large and has many different things to explore. Adam was always around camp somewhere if we ever needed anything. The creek is a short walk through the woods. Easy parking for two vehicles.

I loved it! In all honesty, I wish the grass had been cut a bit more recently. It was extremely tall and hadn't been weed whacked in quite some time. Otherwise, the overall experience was fantastic. Peaceful and quiet. Just what I needed.

Thunder bridge is the perfect hidden gem! The moment you enter the canopy of the forest your mood changes. The log cabins and the screened cabins are perfect for those who do not want to pop up a tent No electricity at the sites but be prepared with backup battery charger or head down to the lodge where there is electricity and WiFi! Bring plenty of drinking water I don’t think the water there is potable. We drank what we boiled and are fine! Adam the owner is great! He checks you in and leaves you alone!

Had a great time at the mountain top cabin! The host Ed is awesome, and truly cared about us having a great experience. Both my kids caught fish from the ponds on the property. First fish ever caught for my son! Priceless!! Highly recommend and we will be back.

Weekend Trip to Thunder BRidge

We had such a fun weekend camping at Thunderbridge. The campsite is beautiful in the spring time. It did rain all weekend but we stayed in the cabin which was a really cool experience. It’s very cozy with a dining table and a living room area with a fire place. The beds are comfortable and the front porch is an awesome place to chill out. We have access to the creek which the kids loved playing in. Their favorite part was riding their bicycles around the campsite . There is a bathhouse with hot showers and a place to clean gear and dishes. Adam is a great host and brought us firewood when we ran out. We will definitely be back ;)

My family and I have stayed in the retreat cabin twice so far. We absolutely love it there. The property is gorgeous, the river adds to the beautiful charm, and the cabin has all of the creature comforts you could want for glamping. 10/10 would recommend. Already planning to come back as soon as we can!
