Stillbrook Farm

1 site · Tent30 acres · Chesterfield, VA
At the end of a long and winding gravel driveway, you will find the quiet oasis of Stillbrook Farm. We are located in the sleepy community of ‘Winterpock’ which located in Western Chesterfield County, VA. Winterpock is steeped in history and exudes both quiet and therapeutic energy. In the 1800’s it was the center of a thriving community fueled by the nearby Clover Hill coal mines and linked by railroad to Richmond and beyond. We are 10 minutes to Pocahontas State Park, 30 minutes to RVA, and a little over 60 minutes to Charlottesville, Stillbrook is a small horse farm, with twelve horses that you will find frolicking pastures throughout the property. Our farm is the perfect mix of fields, forest, and streams. Bordered on two sides by the Surline Branch… one of our favorite activities is wading through the broom and finding where it meets the Winterpock Creek. We have several tent sites located throughout the property depending on what you are looking for. Most are located near the creek. Camp fires are permitted inside the existing fire rings with all wood and kindling provided. We have beautiful two-story, 10-stall horse barn with a bathroom (sink/toilet), Keurig with locally sourced coffee, refrigerator, and large room over our barn in case of inclement weather. While here, you will hear owls, Whippoorwills, quail, coyotes, horses, our friendly chickens, and neighbor cows. Come, be our guest!

Carolzy’s Secret Gardens

3 sites · RVs, Tents10 acres · Mechanicsville, VA
Twenty plus years ago, there was an ad in the paper listing ten acres for sale in Old Church. It has always been a special place and so the adventure began... We built the house and ever since, have been adding gardens, paths, trails, benches, swings and generally giving back the love to the land for the pleasure it has provided. As a result, there is wildlife and birds galore. Hummingbirds will delight you as will the tree frogs and lizard frogs at the frog pond canoe. Wander down the path to our first vegetable garden location which is now a prime spot for pitching a tent or just hanging out and watching for deer, turkeys, or turtles. Depending on the season, you can enjoy blooming azaleas, coneflowers, crepe myrtles or zinnias. This is a super woodland that will give you every opportunity to relax and wonder at the beauty of nature. The RV site is close to the house and we will be right here should you need us.

Off-grid Creekside Cabin

2 sites · Lodging21 acres · Bumpass, VA
Come unplug and unwind alongside a year round stream. Lounge in the hammock and read a good book, watch the abundant wildlife or build a fire and cook out under the stars. Fall asleep to the sound of the babbling creek, just perfect for relaxing and getting some quality sleep. In the morning, have your coffee on the sun dappled porch. Hike the trails, visit the farm animals and explore the surrounding countryside. Winter campers! The cabin is heated with a woodstove and is toasty warm on chilly nights with a fire going. The cabin was the first dwelling built on our farm and is only 40 minutes from Richmond, ideal for a quick getaway. We have friendly goats, cows and chickens on our 21 acre family homestead. Tucked into the woods, the farm is peaceful and private. There are walking paths through the woods and a creek to explore. You are welcome to visit the animals. The farm is about halfway between Richmond and Charlottesville. We are about 15 miles from the James River at Maidens. There is a super hip farmstand (like a mini Whole Foods) and an old fashioned country store 2 miles up the road and a good Mexican place about 15 minutes away. To the east is Montpelier and to the west is Louisa, both have all the modern stores and conveniences along with some country charm. You will park near the trailhead and it is a 2 minute walk down a wooded trail. The cabin is one room with a loft. There is a queen size memory foam bed in the loft (up a ladder) and a small wood stove with a cooktop for chilly nights that will keep you toasty warm. Welcome!
