Our property was a small family farm for several generations. Our family purchased the property about 18 years ago. Since we are not farmers but love living here, the question became "What would be the best use for the land?" Living in a scenic area and already being in the vacation rental business on some other family property answered the question. We decided to share the beautiful view and seclusion of our area with others. Our goal was to keep the cost of building down so that we could pass on the savings to you so that you would not have to be rich to enjoy our lovely area. This inspired the idea of a glamping cabin. The cabin is actually a repurposed office building that was built about the time this property was purchased by our family. We moved it to the present location and completely remodelled it in 2018 and added the bathroom. For 4 years, guests enjoyed an off-the-grid experience. In 2023, when we began work on the glamping dome (stay tuned--coming soon!!), we decided to add electricity, running water, and a hot tub to the tiny house! We hope you enjoy the cabin (and, soon, the dome) and the stunning view from them as much as we enjoy sharing this beautiful spot with you! Note: The Charming Glamping Cabin is at a totally different property. That property also has a section that used to be farmed. Now a lot of it is forest. We purchased the property around 2000. This cabin was built approx. 10 years later. At that point, the cabin was a tiny economy cabin with a sofa bed. However, it seemed most folks preferred comfort over economy, so in 2020, we added a bump-out to the side of the cabin so there would be room for a queen bed. Guests have loved the improvement. This is what your wife means when she says she wants to go “camping”. enough roughage, but with the comfort of a queen bed and hot running water. although the streets did have traffic it wasn’t a deal breaker for us & we are already looking at coming back! just get past the fear people can see you bc they can’t it’s just the scary movies you grew up watching haunting you. Brought canned goods and hot dogs that we were able to make in the fire there! Napped in the hammock, but we didn’t get in the river but you can! ALSO boats do float the river so keep in mind when keeping the tent open …if you know what i mean. food near: Lil Guses 9/10, Bonobos bakery 1000/10 trails with swimming holes & water falls- The Blue Hole & South River Falls.

My bestest bud, Diesel (9 ye old Rottie) and I had the BEST stay here. We had to book same day due to an issue with another site, Kim and Bobby were so accommodating. The bus is so beautifully done and blew away any expectations that I had... so incredibly welldone.. that we didn't want to leave. They have most anything you could possibly need (you just need your own cooking supplies.. they have a grill and a stove inside)! They were also very receptive to suggestions. We absolutely recommend this spot for a comfortable and easy stay. We would undoubtedly stay again!!

Had a great time at the mountain top cabin! The host Ed is awesome, and truly cared about us having a great experience. Both my kids caught fish from the ponds on the property. First fish ever caught for my son! Priceless!! Highly recommend and we will be back.

It is our first camping. We came with many friends. The place is beautiful. Although we did not get into the water that much, but Vince guided us a gorgeous hiking. Definitely want to come back.

My family and I have stayed in the retreat cabin twice so far. We absolutely love it there. The property is gorgeous, the river adds to the beautiful charm, and the cabin has all of the creature comforts you could want for glamping. 10/10 would recommend. Already planning to come back as soon as we can!

Gail’s farm was such a peaceful place to stay on my road trip through the Virginia mountains. The sauna worked great and there was so many interesting and caring details throughout the whole farm. Gail was amazing and so accommodating, and met with me when I arrived to show me around, I would definitely stay there again when I’m in the area.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The hosts were incredibly welcoming, and the cabins were spotless. The bathrooms and showers were even better than my own home! This place has made it to my top list of favorite destinations. The trail was short but still provided a great experience. I’ll definitely be returning!

Weekend Trip to South River Camp

Great site! It was amazing to sleep in an actual bed rather than the ground! Also hot water for a shower was amazing! The hosts were also amazing and brought us a heater when the temp was going to drop over night making us much more comfortable! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a large space with more comforts than usual camping!

We loved glamping a night here. It's is very quiet and remote, and the river at 30 paces distance. We loved cooking our dinner on the campfire. Everything you need is available.
