1 night at Tiny House on the Potomac
The cabin was womderful. It had everything we needed for our overnight stay, including heat, coffee press, some water, fun games annd books, and a clean outhouse just a few steps away. We enjoyed a campfire by the river, and loved being so close to Shepherdstown ~1.5 miles away. I hope to return in the warmer seasons!

4 nights at Camping on the Hazel River
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this cabin! I communicated with Peggy through the HipCamp app, and she was very responsive and helpful. When we arrived, Tony met us at the parking area, showed us to the cabin, and took the time to explain how everything worked. He was incredibly kind, accommodating, and genuinely wanted to make sure we had a great experience.
The cabin itself was spotless, rustic, and very cozy — exactly what we were hoping for. It has just the right amount of amenities: a small fridge, microwave, toaster oven, running water, and just enough hot water for a quick shower. The outdoor shower was one of our favorite parts — it felt peaceful and refreshing every time we used it.
Before our trip, we asked if there was a way to cook outside, and Tony went above and beyond. He actually built a wonderful fire pit setup designed for cooking, which we used every day. It was such a fun and memorable part of our stay, and Tony even provided all the firewood we could possibly need.
The property is beautiful, well maintained, and surrounded by about one to two miles of lovely hiking trails. It was quiet, private, and felt like our own little hideaway in nature. Tony gave us plenty of space while still being available if we needed anything.
We couldn’t have asked for a better experience — highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a cozy, peaceful escape!

Weekend Trip to Tiny House on the Potomac
Very picturesque setting near an eclectic town. I went there by myself, no pets are allowed and it was everything I had hoped for. It was the last day of a week long trip and it is worth staying for multiple days.
Views and cabin amenities are numerous and would recommend to future travelers.

This rustic cabin is a true serenity gem! From the moment we arrived, Tony was fantastic—he met us personally, helped us settle in, and made us feel right at home. The cabin itself is full of sweet charm, thoughtfully stocked with all the little necessities, and so well maintained. We spent our days walking along the river and hiking nearby trails, then ended our evenings cozied up by the fire, playing games and soaking in the peace. We truly didn’t want to leave and return to real-life adulting! The location is perfect—close to Skyline Drive and conveniently near stores—yet when you return, it feels like your own private slice of paradise. We’re already looking at dates to come back soon!

1 night at Tiny House on the Potomac
So beautiful standing on the waters edge. Cozy, clean cabin. Nicest "outhouse" I've used. Shepardstown nearby is a great little town and so close. Note: Wifi did not work well at all but only really wanted it to look up nearby places. Sadly it was drizzle so I didn't get to sit by the firepit by the river so I guess I'll have to come back. :-)

Camping at Tamara's was relaxing and an overall pleasant experience. Watching the sunrise over the mountains in the morning, warming up by the fire at night, and spending days with the sweet animals was a blessing. Between the arts and crafts (really fun for little ones), learning about historical tools (think Little House on the Prairie), and improving my skills for fire building and cooking over a fire, this was a delightful and educational experience. The location is near hiking trails with great views, and near several ice cream shops (a great treat after a good hike). Tamara is a good host. This is definitely a location that I hope to return to.

We had a wonderful time at Tamara’s farm. We were welcomed with farm fresh eggs and firewood our first evening where we sat bye the fire and cooked yummy hot dogs and corn.
Our teens stayed in a tent - their first time camping in a tent and loved the experience.
In the morning we took a long morning walk taking in all the nature - the weather was fabulous.
Tamara shared some of the history of the region and we spent the afternoon hiking in the mountains where there was an overlook which was stunning.
If your looking for time out in nature in a rustic setting with warm hospitality we highly recommend Tamara’s cottage.

The stay at Richard’s cabin was everything I hoped for. A wonderful view of the Potomac River, peaceful, comfy bed, fire in the fire pit, and everything needed to cook up wonderful meals…oatmeal in the morning and burgers on the grill in the evening.

Weekend Trip to Shenandoah Retreat by Hazard Mill
The cabin was exactly as described. Host had great communication and helpful tips
The place was clean, had some helpful items available and the screened in porch was perfect to enjoy the water views without getting bit by bugs (just typical summer conditions). The cabin is in close proximity to other structures but it was SUPER quiet and peaceful. Easy to drop a kayak in, shuttles are also nearby
It should be mentioned that the driveway is long and full of potholes. It’s a bumpy, slow ride. Some low laying vehicles could struggle depending on conditions
Overall we’d definitely come back

2 nights at CLOUD NINE VICTORIAN FARM
Tamara has a beautiful property with a tremendous amount of indoor and outdoor space for guests to use and enjoy, with ample on site activities too. My family loved the sleeping space, crafting space, chickens, and making a bonfire the most, but it was all great. Tamara is a wonderful hostess with many recommendations for us, and made us feel right at home. I hope to go back and relax there again soon!

We loved interacting with the many animals here, the beautiful landscapes, the charming barn and rustic other properties, and that it is centrally located to many hikes. This spot really exceeded expectations! Thought it’d be musty and dark with lumpy beds and a smelly outhouse, which would have been fine. The hazard is bright and airy with a very pleasant fresh smell (not a covering gross perfume). The beds were comfy and the outhouse was for what it is great. Lots of flat soft ground for tents or games.
River access was easy. We did 17 miles from here to front royal boat ramp in six hours first day. River was high. Gorgeous trip but no rapids to speak of. Did 10 miles second day from seekford. Great class two at mile one, lots of class 1s and ripples after. Shuttle is a bit of a bear for that at 45 minutes each way.

Weekend Trip to CLOUD NINE VICTORIAN FARM
I stopped through for one night on my way from FL to upstate NY. The fresh breeze, soughing ancient trees, and gently stunning views were a soothing and reinvigorating balm after a long muggy drive. Tamara is a friendly, interesting, interactive host, and her set-up here is truly a work of art - and an immersive history lesson. She is only the fourth owner of this very special property - which is 130 years old, surrounded by dairy farms, most of which are industrializing, but the land (still shared with the palpable presence of a widespread, long-established Mennonite community). The experience gives a keen and enveloping sense of what things were like back-when.
The sleeping quarters and water closet are in the sweet little building behind her house that was the 'summer kitchen' at one time. While the accommodation is basic by our persnickety modern standards, it holds long-lost, historically accurate ways intact, and has much to offer those who are willing to relax into its rich and rewarding charms.
Tamara kept close company with me during my visit, and I relaxed into this as well, thanks to her warm, funny, and knowledgeable personality. Her gorgeous Gmn Shepherd, Willow, friendly cats and laying hens joined in the hostessing, and Willow passed the night with me in my little dwelling, protecting me while I slept in the loft, and the whole property on her night patrols. Door open! A solid sleep helped me finish my trip with fortitude.

I was unable to visit due to weather. Tamara was amazing in communicating and coordinating a refund and getting us set up for next time. My only complaint is with Hipcamp making the system so clunky. See you soon!
