We are a Nature Retreat bordering Nature Conservancy land along a tributary and up and down the Rappahannock River. You can hike along the stream down to the river and up and down the river. You can fish and float the river. There are no trails so a moderate level of fitness and comfort in the forest is needed. You can follow the water ways but it is wilderness. Camping there is primitive but available or you can camp or glamp at Earthwalk Ways Retreat. We are also adjacent to a 50 acre farm on the other side of the creek that is available for hiking. There is a reservoir nearby as well. We are in the midst of the suburbs not far from Fredericksburg, which has some great historic and community places of interest. Our facilities are private and we only rent to one or 2 guests at a time. You can glamp in a trailer, or car camp in a nice campground with power and water or you can go primitive and pack in. All spaces include access to our classical 11 circuit labyrinth and backyard gardens where you can enjoy zen rock garden and other contemplative nature crafts. There are some great extra's here as well including an outdoor jacuzzi and indoor infrared sauna and massage chair. These spa features are another great way to get your zen on here. I offer Forest Bathing and individual retreat support sessions, an quarterly sweat lodge and also vision quest support if people would like to experience a solo nature immersion feast.

Wolftrap Farm was owned by James & Dolley Madison during their time, and they called it Black Meadow. Their home, Montpelier, is just across the mountains you see from the campsite. It passed through the hands of various local farmers during the 19th & 20th centuries, and for many years was a dairy farm. It became primarily a horse farm in the 1970's, when it was owned by the German Von Wulffen family.The Cuthrell family from the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area acquired the farm in 2003 and converted it to a resort farm, featuring upscale vacation homes. Beginning around 2013, the farm started morphing into primarily a wedding venue, and now hosts over 60 weddings each year.

Darlene's land was a perfect hip camp. Usually my dogs and I hit the hay at nightfall, but Darlene's camp has an electric pole with a light, a screened tent with a table and chair, and an extra electric plug (recharge phones) - it was private and serene - plus Darlene was a FANTASTIC communicator, who meets you there to show you how the compostable toilet works, where to get firewood, etc. - then leaves you your privacy. Only a small disclaimer for travelers with dogs, IF you have a reactive dog (as one of mine is) there is quite a bit of wildlife noise in the woods. Highly recommend this hipcamp.

One of the possible camp sites at the main campground. This is in the middle of the loop in the road at the end. There are other sites on either side and a trailer situated just below. There is a primitive camp shower and compost toilet available for campers. Please make sure you get instructions before using. or you can also rent the trailer for the perfect larger gathering. This bathhouse capacity is for only a few people so for larger groups you need to rent trailer or supply duty bags until I can get a portapotty in.

Great site, quiet and spacious, beautiful views of the mountains. Clean restroom/shower facilities conveniently located near tent. Tent setup was very comfortable with a bed, a/c, grill, table. Quiet, and loved having the horses nearby. Glad that there was a fridge to keep perishables, and other supplies like plates, etc. Ladies room was awesome.

Wow. She is a gem. Take advantage of the river and Gazebo. Both alot of fun and solitude. Off the beaten path. Extremely quite. Tent sites are level. Mine offered trees. As I use a Lawson hammock style tent to get off the ground whenever possible. Much, much shade you're in a forest. Leave the site as you left it. I would go back. I was the only one using the tent area. A bonus for me. We'll done. Composting lue is and water set up was perfect and came in handy. I did not use anything else she offers. PEACE

This is a beautiful farm. The setting was very peaceful. It was really cool having access to a full kitchen within just a few steps. The showers and restrooms were clean and convenient! As it ended up being near record breaking temps during our stay- our host Tina had the AC running in the tent, ahead of our arrival to help cool it down a bit. We look forward to visiting Wolftrap Farm during the fall season!

We really loved Darlene's camp site - from the well water to physical location and amenities [like the spa, composting toilet, shower, option for spiritual ceremonies, etc.], we had such a blast. She had no problem with our cat [you'd be surprised], and we essentially had the space to ourselves for the weekend. Personally, I loved being close to a water source, so the creek was a highlight for me! There was so much to see just walking the trails and I can't wait to explore more. Darlene herself is a very kind-hearted soul who enjoys building authentic + collaborative relationships. We look forward to future returns and music-making <3
