We usually get up early and do our farm chores, and depending on the time of year we could be bottle feeding baby goats or calves, delivering baby goats, or working on outdoor farm projects. Our home was built in 1864 and our barn is original! Our property is not far from Montpelier, the home of our 4th president, and about an hour from Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello. We love wine tasting in Charlottesville, and taking day trips to Shenandoah National Park. We are 45 minutes from Fredericksburg, 28 minutes from Culpeper, and 20 minutes from Lake Anna. Denise was most accomadating with my last minute request and my challenges in correctly reserving the right date. She was there in person to show me the options of where to pitch my tent and drove to the site with me. She explained her different color coded hiking/horse trails. Previous reviews are accurate in describing both Denise's pleasant hospitality as well as her gorgeous property. Her place is so convenient to both I95 and area business that it's hard to comprehend how such a large and wonderful HipCamp could exist. As long as you bring ear plugs for the busy traffic over the hill, this is a 5 star primitive HipCamp.

Awesome host! This is our 4th Hipcamp site and we enjoyed every moment here even my 13 years old son said, "Dad, this has been the most stress-fee camping trip ever." We paid $30 to rent the kayaks and my kids enjoyed them as well. Quiet and quaint! We will be back again in the near future!

This is a hidden gem of Orange County! The hosts were so nice. When we rolled up, they said there was a better spot they could show us to. I think it was spot 7. Regardless, it was beautiful. Sleeping under the trees was so peaceful. It was our dog’s first camping trip and it was nice for it to just be our crew without other families disturbing us.
A few things to note: fire wood is free. Loved that! The bathroom is a drive away, not on site. I would bring a toilet or WAG bag. I definitely encourage 4WD/AWD. The terrain was bumpy. There were some gunshots in the distance that scared our pup around dinner time and some low flying airplanes.
Besides that, expect hammocking trees, great sticks and tinder for starting the fire, walking trails, and being far away from others. It was very quiet at night and it was just what we needed! This trip was everything I envisioned for our dog’s first outing and more. I’m so glad we booked this Hipcamp! I’ll definitely be back! Thanks for hosting!

We stayed at campsite number 1 with a pop-up camper. Access was easy. There was plenty of room, tons of wood for a fire, a labyrinth, and trails. The hosts were amazing and attentive. It took only a few minutes to drive to the town of Orange and nearby are a number of wineries.

My wife, 2 boys and I stayed Sat. and although we had to pack up at night because little man was to cold, we would definitely be back. Matt met us and showed us where everything was and had the campsite cleaned and ready for us loaded with fresh cut firewood. We will definitely be back in the spring. Directions were easy to get to it. Nice 5 minute walk to the river also.

The farm animals and the farm fresh eggs were much appreciated. It was too cold to explore but the campsite met our needs for a one night stay. It was a bit tricky backing into the site. Rodney’s communications were excellent. The area looks like it would be lovely when the weather is more hospitable. We should have taken advantage of the offer to dump our tank as the Camping World didn’t honor the Good Sam perk of free use of the septic dump.

We had a great time here and would absolutely come back. The property is spacious with lots of spots to set up, which makes it especially great for a group trip where everyone wants a bit of room to spread out.
If you’re planning to camp by the creek, 4-wheel drive is a must. The terrain is no joke, but totally worth it once you’re settled.
There are large piles of wood for use, just bring an axe or proper saw for firewood, they came in very handy for us to get pieces down to size for our jack stove.
Electric hookups were clutch during our stay. It was overcast the whole time, so our solar panels were basically useless. If your device can’t sit directly on a ledge near the outlet, bring an extension cord. You’ll thank yourself later.
Temps dropped down to 11 degrees, and we were impressed that the pump water didn’t freeze at all and tasted great. Big win for cold-weather camping.
One heads-up on site selection: the spot by the firepit and picnic table is convenient, but it’s close to the road, so keep that in mind if you’re looking for something more tucked away.
There’s no cell service for Verizon down by the creek, so plan accordingly. If you need connectivity, Starlink is the move.
Overall, a solid stay with beautiful surroundings and wildlife, and plenty of flexibility depending on how you like to camp. Just come prepared and you’ll have an awesome experience.

We absolutely loved this property! Beautiful views, very quiet, CLEAN and peaceful there is a gorgeous lake a short walk from camp site 1. Juan has beautiful horses on his property and they are so peaceful to watch. Water and electric hook up worked great, and our class A fit great and site was level. This location is about 1 mile off the main road we easily navigated down the dirt compacted/gravel road no issues. Again extremely quiet, just nature. Just 14 minutes to downtown Culpeper, charming downtown area, lots of shops, and diners. Walmart, Target, Martins, Lidl, and Lowes are just a few more minutes down the road. Can not recommend this camp enough, you will not be disappointed!
