Located in rustic Bells Crossroads, VA three miles from I-64, Billyville is a work in progress featuring 2 tent and 4 RV sites with electric hookup and lots of space. Wifi, well water from a hose and composting outhouse facilities are available. Other amenities include a six hole disc golf course, little free library.
Within one hour’s ride is a wealth of things to do, experience and see; within reach are the Shenandoah mountains, the University of Virginia and Charlottesville and Lake Anna . There is something for everyone from children to seniors, from outdoor adventurers, to history buffs, arts and entertainment seekers, bargain shoppers and local gourmet food and drink lovers.
At days end you can go to concerts or “clubbing” in town or return to Billyville and enjoy the quiet, peaceful ambiance of a campfire under a starlit sky.
Check-Ins and Arrival Instructions:
Check-ins on weekdays are dependent on my work schedule. If this is your first time at Billyville, I need to be on property to guide you into your site. Please reach out before your stay so we can coordinate. If I am off on that day, check-in is after 1pm. If I am working, it will be after 5pm and occasionally after 7. I am currently testing out some procedures to allow self check-in. We'll see how that pans out.
Anyway, to get to Billyville:
Turn onto Bells Lane. (Dirt Road). You'll see a white fence on your left down the lane about .2 miles. Just after the fence, you'll see a red sign at the beginning of a rope fence. Turn off Bells Lane just after the sign and follow the fence, keeping it on you left.

The Luray Caverns, a national historic site, with it’s famous Great Stalacpipe Organ, are just a few minutes away, and tubing, canoeing, and white-water rafting adventure can be found at the nearby Shenandoah River. Museums and Civil War sites will feed your history-loving soul!
Onsite we have a brand-new camp store! We also have a large pool and small pool, a gathering yurt for groups and an event pavilion, a playground, and a jumping pillow is in the works! Weekend Trip to Sun Retreats Shenandoah Valley
I had a beautiful stay at the 1 Bedroom Cottage at Sun Retreats Shenandoah Valley while I was attending my Inner Engineering program nearby.
Even though I was very busy with my classes, I could still feel how peaceful and special this place is. The cottage was comfortable, quiet, and surrounded by beautiful nature, which made it the perfect place to rest and recharge.
The property is large and full of natural beauty. I didn’t get the chance to explore everything because of my schedule, but what I experienced was wonderful. I would definitely love to come back and spend more time here exploring the grounds.
Next time I plan to return with my kids and friends so we can fully enjoy the peaceful environment and everything this place has to offer.
Thank you for a lovely stay. I would definitely come back again.

The name Awesome View doesn’t even do it justice! We stayed last minute overnight and missed the sunset but if you can get there before sunset I would highly recommend it! The sunrise however was absolutely stunning! There are two horses on the property and they were a nice surprise when we woke up in the morning. My husband spoke with the owner and said she was very sweet and I had the pleasure of speaking with the owner’s father who lives up the road behind the property. He was so nice as he pulled in to make sure we were enjoying our stay. I would absolutely recommend a stay. It is also a short ride to the Skyline Dr through Shenandoah national park filled with a plethora of scenic overlooks. Perfect location! We would definitely stay again when we are in the area.

Campsite was accurate described. Host was gracious and communicated quickly. Location was centrally located to lots of areas. Luray to the north, Elkton just around the corner, and Waynesboro to the south. Campsite was nice. Even with houses closer by, it was quiet and felt secluded. Except for maybe some nearby roosters to wake you up. Their horses loved to say hello especially once they learned you have apples for them. Would definitely stay here again.

I have nothing but wondeful things to say about this campground. It was clean, beautiful, accomodating and friendly. There was plenty of turn around space to maneuver our camper. The dumping station was well kept and easy to pull up to. The creek was beautiful along the back of the campground and we had wonderful conversations with the host and he was very inviting. There is a train that runs on the other side of the creek which we found to be exciting to watch and it was quiet so it did not wake us up. There is an enclosed dog walking area which was nice for our dogs. We will definitley be back.

We loved tent camping at Swedish Lilac. The babbling river, the sounds of the trains (not too loud and we loved it), and Fritz, the host, made our time memorable. The bathrooms were very clean and convenient. We will definitely be back!!

The good:
Friendly, helpful staff, pleasant out-of-the-way valley with a small river running along the edge of the campground. Convenient to Lexington and Fairfield and Buena Vista. Bathrooms are clean. Free firewood was offered during our stay.
The not as good:
No on site waste hookup, and the dump station is on the wrong side of the driveway. There is a train track just on the other side of the river that has freight trains at 2am, 4am, and 10am (at least during our stay). Some sites are awkwardly arranged. Bathrooms are not heated.
Overall:
Don't let the negatives discourage you from staying here, I mentioned them only so you will not be surprised. It is a peaceful campground despite the occasional freight train. Well away from major roads and light pollution, with a very friendly staff who make sure you get there by the best route and guide you to your site. Stayed during winter, two nights were below freezing, so occupancy was very low. I believe they have activities during the summer months.

We arrived a little late and had requested a late checkin when booking. Fritz was great! He communicated promptly and was there to walk us to our site, even offering to bring us firewood. Restrooms were clean.

This place was absolutely fantastic. Cannot wait to visit again some time next year. Spots were spaced beautifully and felt private and peaceful. Tons of trees and even some nice trails to walk on the property. Stayed two nights and loved it.

We enjoyed our stay and plan to return. Listening to the river and campfire was quite pleasant. The occasional train passing by is very similar to camping at James River SP and Powhatan SP. The views of the night sky are spectacular.

A hidden gem. Beautiful area. It's a clean and simple, no-frills campground. The hosts are personable and welcoming. The only negative is that the dump station is on the wrong side of the road when exiting the campground and pitched slightly downhill once you do get situated to dump. Bigger rigs will have some difficulty getting turned around and positioned properly. I loved the place - the minimal amenities and smaller campground fit our camping style perfectly.

The sites were spacious and the firewood was abundant. Our site was next to the river, which added to the experience with ambient water sounds. The bath house was very clean, but it is good to note that that they are not heated if you are camping in cooler weather. The hosts were very friendly and we would definitely camp there again to explore more of the area.
