This property is bordered by the Saranac River, the backside of Baker Mountain and State Forest. The only other building on the property is our timberframe which we may or may not be at during the time of your visit. The property does have private trails up to the cliffs on the backside of Baker mtn however, the Saranac River is down a steep embankment so it does not make for a good place to launch a boat (several public boat launches nearby). We have an authentic sugar shack nestled on a 100 plus acre property that hosts fields, streams and mountain forests. We offer great views plenty of quiet off grid glamping experiences. We are offering a bed and breakfast set up. Which provides a hot or cold breakfast to you door, we will even pack it to go for an early morning adventure. We stayed here while mountain biking the Heart of the Greens loop on the Velomont trail. It was the perfect spot. The stars were amazing, sunrise was fantastic and the descent in the morning was great. Matt was responsive and recommended some great trails. I want to back already.

Weekend Trip to Mt Baker Tiny Cabin

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sara & Matt’s cabin! It’s tucked away in the woods and feels private, but it’s still close to downtown Saranac Lake (4 min drive). Make sure you follow the directions provided, Google Maps wanted to bring us the wrong way (do not turn left down Ledge Lane). There are little HipCamp logo signs that help guide the way at the end of the Saranac Lane when it turns to dirt. The cabin was very clean and inviting. It was cold the first night as the cabin is not insulted or have heat, but between the blankets they provide and the blankets we brought we were comfy. Really appreciated having drinking water provided! We will definitely be booking a return trip to this cabin in the future!

A stone phantom lays atop the hill, Far away yet near the pulse. A richly loved and stocked stone hut Stands testament to hands and hearts. Well water to quench the thirst and cook, Logs to crack apart and warm the bones. Mattresses solid to cradle to sleep. Books to occupy a seeking mind, Tools and woods to occupy seeking hands. Bring food, clothes, bedding, fuel (if you don’t want to cook only on wood), power packs to charge devices, headlamps are always good, and an exploring soul. The mountains will mold you.

Lots of privacy despite being less than 5 minutes from down town Saranac Lake! The cabin is a great middle ground camping experience- no plumbing or electric but you still get the creature comforts of a bed. The blankets provided kept us warm despite low temps in the 40s. Only downside is the solar shower does not heat up when there’s no sun, but we made it work.

HOWL is at the bas of Camel's Hump! It's an easy drive to the trailhead and one heck of a hike up. Totally worth it! There are equally cozy or adventurous options all around HOWL.

HOWL is a lovely place to stay! The hosts were welcoming and warm, opened their home as if I was an old friend and made sure that I felt comfy and ready to enjoy the beautiful surrounds. We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this beautiful lake view cabin! The photos online truly don't do it justice—the place is even more stunning in person. The cabin was incredibly cozy, relaxing, and peaceful, with all the amenities you could ask for. The mornings were especially great, waking up to the beautiful lake views. We spent two nights here and every moment was perfect. The host was so friendly and welcoming, making our experience even better. As the first guests, we felt honored to be part of this gem's story.
