Weekend Trip to Forest Echo Cabins

Rustic cabin with a stocked kitchen, amazing fireplace and my favorite, the sleeping porch. Situated 0n acres of gorgeous property ours to explore - hime, swim, paddle or just relax. Scott and Rose were lovely at check-in, could t have asked for nicer hosts. Perfect way to truly disconnect - no WiFi or strong cell service, just peace and quiet. I read an entire book yesterday - that hasn’t happened in years!

3 nights at Forest Echo Cabins

We had a great time at Forest Echo and can't wait to go back! The property is absolutely gorgeous. The cabin was so very comfortable and the cleanest of any hipcamp cabin I've visited. The forest and land is beautifully cared for, and I loved the flowers and ferns around the cabin. The lake was beautiful and perfect for canoeing and kayaking while the farm pond was picturesque for sitting and relaxing and a fun swim spot too. The people were extremely kind, welcoming and helpful! The hike down to the lake isn't an issue for most people, especially not active ones. However, if you have mobility or breathing problems it may be difficult. We still made it without a problem, but some may find it difficult.

This was one of my favorite camping experiences ever! The Little Cabin was charming and super comfortable, the grounds were beautiful, and the toilets were among the cleanest outdoor facilities I’ve ever used—bonus points for the complementary hygiene products, which were a very thoughtful and nice touch. I hope to have the opportunity to come back soon and bring along some of my favorite people to share in the experience!

Grateful Acres was one of the coolest campsites I've ever stayed at. They really balance taking care of you while giving you plenty of privacy. The canvas tent my friend and I rented had everything from spare phone chargers to an electric fly swatter included in it. It was incredibly helpful (I doubt you've ever seen accommodations like that at other campsites, private or public). Stephanie and her son Noah were such friendly and welcoming people. I would 100% recommend others to camp at Grateful Acres. If you have down time, go and appreciate their Grateful Dead themed cornhole they have set up. It's wicked

Everything was perfect and well taken care of. The cabin was very comfortable and nicely decorated. The showers and outhouse were very close to cabin. I have to say, the outhouse was the best rustic design I’ve seen. The grounds were so peaceful and private. We didn’t use the tent sites but they looked perfect also. It’s very relaxed there. Very few demands of the guests. The trails lead right from the door and were well planned, extensive and had something for all levels. They were scenic, technical. expansive. Trails for days. We will be going back.

Weekend Trip to Forest Echo Cabins

My family and I had a great time in the Ripley Hill cabin! We stayed here last year and loved it so much that we came back and brought along my sister’s two teenagers. There was plenty of room for all of us, a nice newly renovated bathroom, and the fireplace came in super handy for the chilly nights we had. So much of what we needed was already there, such as kitchen equipment, lighting, games and cleaning supplies, plus lots more. The hosts were very kind and accommodating even though we forgot to text before we left. Thank you!

Salamander Hollow is a magical place. I could write an essay about it but to put it succinctly: What you see online is very cute but doesn't even start to do it justice. If you're on the fence, just book it. Also, this is my first Hipcamp experience but I've done many AirBnbs, and I can confidently say that Mary was the best host ever. Above and beyond helpful. 10 stars!!!

I loved Tully island and paddling around the pond. It was mostly quiet and waking up to the birds was very relaxing. The beaver scared us with his slapping around dusk but the island was an amazing experience.

Weekend Trip to Salamander Hollow Healing Habitat

We had a wonderful family weekend at Salamander Hollow! The accommodations were perfect for us to enjoy a delicious wood-fired pizza making experience, s'mores in the tipi one evening and sleeping in the bee cabin. Despite the rainy weather we had a wonderful time walking the beautiful property, and staying cozy for meals and evenings. Mary is a wonderful host and has lots of helpful recommendations for the area. We will definitely be back!

2 nights at Endless Grove

This spot is an outdoors lover’s dream! You are a walk or bike ride away to hikes and trails. Also, the town of Poultney is 3.4~ miles away. There is an amazing used book store and some nice little diner spots. Oh yeah, the cabin is awesome too! On my first night I jumped in the canoe and just bopped around on the pond. It has everything one human could want. I love this spot, and I will be back!

Adam, Stephanie, and Noah are excellent hosts! They cater to your every need and give you a safe space to be yourself. The Mars Hotel is extremely comfortable and it was really nice having access to a heater, solar shower, and personal toilet. My boyfriend and I had the most amazing time at Grateful Acres and we will absolutely be back soon!

Great amenities, including the super nice hot showers on a cold rainy long weekend. We had a big group which was perfect for the campsite as we could take over the many sites. Bell Tent stayed warm and dry, although some of the blankets and things were slightly damp by the end of the wet weekend, just due to the humidity. Air mattress was *very* comfy. Bike access to trails and town is unparalleled. Great vibes all around!

We loved this sweet little cabin on Caitrin and Hardy’s gorgeous property. The bed was comfy and having mini fridge, power outlets and a hot water kettle made are our “camping” weekend feel luxurious. We loved the big windows and waking up to beautiful nature right outside the door as well as the direct access to the Slate Valley mountain biking trails. Can’t wait for our next stay here!

Weekend Trip to Tranquility Plateau

I had a wonderful time camping here. The place was very peaceful, and I felt completely relaxed the entire time. It was the perfect escape from the noise and stress of everyday life. One of the highlights was making delicious burgers over the fire—it made the experience even more special. Fox Farm Campground

Fox Farm is located on 8 magical acres in eclectic Brattleboro, VT. Pitch your tent in a sacred private white pine forest or closer to the trail-head with access to a charcoal grill, a huge fire circle and a picnic table. If you prefer a roof over your head, check Fox Farm Cottage @ Fox Farm. Located ideally on a trail-head that leads to the West River Trail (a 36-mile scenic trail through the West River Valley – eventually linking Brattleboro, Dummerston, Newfane, Townshend, Jamaica and South Londonderry) and the West River, offering opportunities to hike, fish, swim, ski, snow shoe and bike. The Marina Bar and Restaurant is a 2 mile hike or bike ride from the camp site (via the West River Trail) and is a fun way to see the beauty of Vermont and partake in some excellent indoor/outdoor dining with views of the water. Currently there are two areas available to campers; The Pine Forest and the Council of the Elders. The Pine Forest is a shaded circular area that is very spiritual and quiet. There are currently 3 camp sites in the Pine Forest. The Council of the Elders is a more open (again circular) area that abuts The Pine Forest and has a large fire pit as it's centerpiece, surrounded by the Elder Pine trees. I have had up to 2 campers and an occasional van/camper at the Council of the Elders. I have most recently had requests to book the entire Pine Forest for guests who are traveling together and want privacy- and Ido my best to work with people to accommodate any needs. Please bring your own firewood if you intend to have a fire. I offered wood to guests in the past when I was able but found that tricky to manage as there are times I myself am out of wood. There is plenty of felled wood all around as the property is surrounded by a dense forest and guests are welcome to gather that to supplement fire making. In my experience as a host, I have noted that folks come together and build mini-communities, share food, fires and is generally a positive vibe. Some come for privacy and solitude, which has not been an issue thus far. All in all the energy is upbeat and folks make friends along the way- me too! Brattleboro is a funky, hipster town with many excellent restaurants and much to see and do. For winter enthusiasts Mount Snow is a 30 minute drive and folks can cross country ski and snowshoe right from their camp sites to the 36 mile trail. The Hipcamper can expect privacy yet easy accessibility to the homeowner for tips and ideas to support a positive experience. Campers may be greeted and visited my friendly Bernese Mountain Dog's, Loki Bear and Levi!

Green Gem Yurt Farm Stay

It's lambing time!!! This is the best time of year to visit us, as maximum cuteness is running around just a short walk across the suspension bridge from where you will be staying! We currently have 11 newborn lambs all less than two weeks old (two new arrivals today!) and two ewes are still waiting to deliver. Who knows...maybe they will wait til you get here! Our farm was named after the summer home of Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg. Trollhaugen Farm means Troll hill, but the only real trolls around these parts are the sheep. Our farm has sheep, pigs, chickens and ducks that you are welcome to visit. The yurt sits under the trees next to a babbling brook. A suspension bridge connects you to the farm area. The yurt is private and has a fire pit right out back where you can grill or just sit and enjoy the fire. The colorful yurt offers a comfy four poster bed, a small kitchen area and a bathroom with shower and composting toilet. This is a great place for children, bikers, swimmers, hikers or anyone who just wants to get away from it all for a few days. There are many lovely hikes, one of which takes you to a pond you can swim in. You can also hike up in the woods behind the yurt. Newfane village is one of the most picturesque villages in Vermont, with a courthouse on the green. There are two restaurants in Newfane, two coffee shops, a flea market on Sundays, and a great antique store. We are close to Brattleboro, home to one of the best coops in the northeast, as well as many fun stores and an art museum. Please come visit us!

We currently have a one-room, wood stove warmed, cozy sleeping loft for one or two - with two benches below on either side of room - for two sleeping bags; plus, a separate 22 foot Sioux tipi with two cots. There are two chairs in the tipi, which if removed at night, make floor room for four other sleeping bags. 'Forest Bathing' for miles! If you're a larger group booking Salamander Hollow main camp with its Sleeping Library, Tipi & Slovenian Beehive House, you might consider renting this additional Tiny Cabin want to entertain all in glamping style, utilizing its amenities; as well, providing another bathroom/shower and guest bedroom for those who prefer being indoors while in the great outdoors. Note that Kula Bata Tiny Cabin abuts the wheelchair accessible larger bathroom/shower which is available to those at the Salamander Hollow main camp, yet you are secluded with your own private entry points and private bathroom. A ten minute drive takes you to the parking area to hike up Tully Mountain. Rustic and Comfortable Cabins. No power lines cross our property. We have no blaring screens to distract us from the sound of the wind in the leaves or to call us back to the whirl of modern life. But that does not mean we are without any comforts. Each cabin has a fully equipped kitchen, hot and cold running spring water, indoor bathroom, and overhead LP gas lamps. Nestled in the forest at meadow's edge, Cold Spring Cabin has an outdoor shower and indoor tub. Perched on a hill near the Farm Pond, Ripley Hill Cabin has an indoor shower and tub. The cabins are rustic, but clean and airy. The luxuries at Forest Echo Farm are not inside the cabins; they are found in the light that fills the forest in late afternoon, the silence of an evening canoe and the moonlit sparkle of dewdrops at midnight. Forest Echo Farm includes 360 acres, extensive shore to a 26-acre protected pond, numerous trails, and half a mountain. The Farm Pond offers a refreshing ‘dip’ to cool off. A hike from each cabin leads to Tiny Pond, an unspoiled lake where canoe, kayak and raft are available for shared use. Hiking trails are on the property. In addition to local trails, the Long Trail and Appalachian Trail are nearby. The surrounding area is chock full of restaurants, antique stores, country stores, bakeries, farm stands, farmers markets, general shopping, historic sites, hiking, swimming holes and scenic drives. Preserving and Sharing the Land. Forest Echo Farm is owned by a cooperative group of families and individuals who are committed to the values of simple living and the preservation of our environment. Forest Echo cabins offer a relaxing retreat where you can unplug and reconnect. The Forest Echo Farm community is dedicated to preserving our land, maintaining a balance between our human presence and the natural character of the forest, lakes, and mountains. Through the Vermont Land Trust, we have set aside 80% of our land to ensure that it will never be developed.
