Propane heater(Mr Heater 18,000btu) to stay warm on chilly winter days/nights. Linens are provided. Solar generator provided. Compost toilet(bucket/sawdust) in cabin. Fire pit, wood fired hot tub(open year round), outdoor shower(spring-fall). Outdoor kitchen setup with sink, charcoal grill and Coleman 2 burner propane stove. 3 gallons potable water available, 5 gallons water available for kitchen, 2 gallons available in bathroom. We also utilize all of our property for gardening, logging, tapping trees, bee keeping, milling, stacking and moving wood, etc., so you will probably see us during your stay. But no worries the cabin is comfortably private. There is no electricity at cabin. You should have phone reception but no wifi available. This area of Vermont has snow all winter, and mud in the spring. I do my best to keep the driveway clean and most of the time there are no issues but ideally you would want 4WD and snow tires. We live on 6 acres of woods and hay fields. Larry used to hay the fields, now the local dairy farmer is haying the fields. This property was a fallow dairy farm called the Common View Farm when we bought it in 2007. We hear the name came from the fact that we can see the Craftsbury Common from the height of the property. Legend holds that people have seen strange lights and orbs in the area. It may just be a yarn told by the locals to the new flatlanders. I have never noticed anything of the sort and I have been looking. Who doesn't like a good New England ghost story? There are 20 acres of hay fields, 6 acres are woods. We have one old goat, Brownie, and our dog, Tinker, who runs the land and loves dog friends as well as humans. Our views are of the Lowell Mountains closest and the Green Mountains in the distance. You can see the Lowell wind farm on the horizon. We have a large garden and raspberry patch. The house closest to the forest path to the camp no longer belongs to us rather neighbors who value their privacy. To be good neighbors we ask our guests to stay within the bounds of the property. It is from the beginning of the path and the 6 acres of woods where the camp is located. You know when you've reachd the edge of our property where the path ends and where you see a sign notifying property boundary edge. Learn more about this land: The Northwoods Gypsy Wagon is a 3-minute walk into the woods from the parking area. You can have all the solitude you'd like or visit the nearby towns. In this off-grid wagon, you will have an indoor cooking stove (2 burner propane) and a propane stove for the cooler nights but no running water, therefore no indoor plumbing. Fresh water, battery operated lights, solar panel which provides one lamp and a place to plug in your phone, coffee/tea set ups. Wi-Fi/cell cov is not available. There is a privy exclusively for the wagon and a place for a cold-water wash up. This is truly tiny space, however; sleeps 2 adults. You will have a table and chairs for a sit down chat or meal. In the dryer months fire-burning may be ill-advised or outright prohibited, you'll be advised.

Bring it! The Lamoille River is a few miles away and a favorite for water lovers. Don't have one, there is a great rental place down the road where you can take one out for the day. Looking for another option to the river? The Belvidere Pond is down the road and offers a peaceful place to paddle around surrounded by the mountains. MAPLE SYRUP/SUGARBUSH Want to learn about the maple sugaring process? We are always happy to give you a tour of our sugarhouse and the woods, and explain how we turn the tree sap into yummy Maple Syrup. (We only boil January-early April.) We do have this year's crop bottled and available for sale! Buy one for morning pancakes, to add to your morning coffee, or to take home! WILDLIFE/BERRIES/MUSHROOMS/FIDDLEHEADS Depending on the time of the year, you can find wild raspberries, blackberries, mushrooms, and fiddleheads. (Please do not pick or eat something if you don't know if it is poisonous!) And, wildlife are around. Look for tracks in the soil, signs they have been there, or if you are really quiet (usually in the early morning or at dusk) you might see deer, geese, or wild turkeys! We milk a herd of fifty holstein, jersey, guernsey, and ayrshire cows. We are right off the Long Trail, Catamount Trail, and VAST trail systems. We have mountain bike trails on the farm as well as a great swimming hole. We enjoyed staying in the Old Fox cabin. It was clean, simple, easy to get to, and about 10/15 minutes to kingdom trails. We loved having access to the covered cooking area, cornhole, and free firewood with axes for splitting. I loved being able to make a fire and appreciated all the wood, but think it would be a good idea to have some water at the campground as a safety measure (even just a 5gallon bucket for emergencies). We would happily come back!

The view is AMAZING. We stayed 2 nights with our golden retriever while attending a local event. Kathleen was an awesome host and very helpful. The cabin is cozy and comfortable. We really enjoyed playing the board games in the cabin while warming up by the wood stove at night.
