Metta Earth Institute (MEI) is a non-profit educational retreat center in Lincoln, Vermont. With 158 beautiful acres, we are nestled in a bowl of mountains with stunning mountain views in all directions. Meadows, pastureland, and horticultural fields are interspersed with hardwood and evergreen forest, old orchards, stonewalls, seasonal streams, and an enormous variety of wildlife habitat. Walking and hiking places abound, and a magnificent, pure river with clear pools and waterfalls is just a few minutes’ walk down the road. MEI is based on a small-scale diversified, organic, and biodynamically oriented farm with an acre-sized retreat garden and other herb and flower gardens, and 2 food producing greenhouses. We practice regenerative agriculture, carbon farming, and many other environmentally sustainable practices. Main House Front Porch The front porch of the main house has continued to be a wonderful gathering place with outstanding sunset views and surrounding terraced gardens with blossoms and berries that attract hummingbirds and bees. We serve meals from the adjoining big kitchen, and these can be enjoyed on the porch or taken on trays to the nearby Plum Grove, other outdoor settings. The porch is a great place to meet with others or enjoy a place to sit and read. There is also a good internet connection on the porch and a place to charge devices. Metta Earth has many structures and spaces to support individuals and groups. The main house has a newly renovated, lovely commercial kitchen space, a dining area, a large, covered porch, a handicapped access bathroom, a yoga/program room, and selected rooms and suites for sleeping. We also have an outdoor pavilion for yoga and other gatherings, and a heritage barn with a barn loft. Please do keep in mind that Metta Earth is a farm based, country retreat center, rustic, yet clean, cared for, and colorful. Outdoor Pavilion We have a 20’ x 24’ outdoor, open structure for groups made from tree poles and covered with a golden colored canvas tarp. The ground is grassy and well maintained. This space can comfortably support 10-15 yoga mats or seating options in a big circle. Heritage Barn Loft Of all the structures and spaces at Metta Earth, the barn loft is one of our most favorite rooms. On the second floor of the heritage barn, this space is often used for drying herbs for teas. It can also be used for gatherings of about 10 or so people. We like to roll out a rug on the wooden, pine floor or use our sheepskins and handmade wool meditation rugs for comfortable sitting. There are two tall windows looking out over the south pasture that cast light on the wooden beams of the barn. This space shines with the soul and warmth of Earth. Bring a bathing suit and gear for swims in the beautiful nearby New Haven River. You are welcome to walk anywhere on Metta Earth land. Or you may want to walk on the surrounding dirt roads, all with very minimal cars and great mountain views or along the river. We can give further directions and information about the region when you are here. Our stays range from basic tent sites to Yurts and Canvas Tents. We have something for everyone. We have four yurts nestled on a knoll among maples, beeches, balsam, and other trees. They each are positioned for a sense of privacy from the others and have little paths connecting them. They all are well loved and humble, beautiful, light filled circular spaces with a round dome skylight, lattice siding, windows with screens for summer use and in winter extra insulation provided by window quilts. Each yurt has a wood stove for colder weather. The yurts are furnished simply with various configurations of single and double beds, tables, chairs, shelving, and sheepskins or other floor rugs. At night a few of the paths are lit with solar lamps, so it is wise to bring a flashlight/headlamp as well. Beeswax candles provide inside night lighting. Some of the yurts have string, solar lights around the inside of the yurt walls. We have 5 bell tents that are lovely, roundish shaped tents with a peak. Four of them are smaller, one-person tents, and one is larger for a couple or 2 people. We usually provide a mattress and pillow with organic bedding and a sheepskin rug, and a simple storage crate/table. It’s a good idea to bring a sleeping bag for extra warmth, especially in the potentially colder shoulder seasons in May and in September. If you have a tent, insulated ground mat, and sleeping gear, we have many inspiring sites in the surrounding forest glades, meadows, and fields. Those who choose to camp have access to outdoor composting toilets, a hot water outside faucet for bucket bathing, and outdoor shower available in the warmer seasons. Camping requires a certain hardiness and adequate gear. Weather during the growing season (May – October) in the mountains of Vermont is unpredictable. Temperatures range from freezing temperatures at night in the spring and fall to gloriously warm days and even hot days.

Welcome to glamping, aka glorified camping. The yurt is a wonderful and very fancy tent. It's for adventurous spirits who like a little comfort. **The yurt is self-serve. We want to provide an affordable and special experience and have the below guidelines:** 1. Bring your own Queen sheets. A duvet is provided 2. Bring your own towels 3. If you leave dirty dishes, a mess, or don't give the place a quick vacuum, you'll be charged a $30 cleaning fee. Come live the simple life in Vermont at Wild Earth Farm. But with a hot shower and a memory foam mattress. Our 14 foot yurt is a tiny oasis from the hustle and bustle of every day life. Your door looks out over the edge of one of our pastures where you might see our organic cow herd or Icelandic sheep flock grazing. Soak in the sunset from the fire pit and watch the sky come alive with stars. The Wild Earth Yurt is 14 feet in diameter and offers a queen sized memory foam mattress, two cozy chairs, and a bench to place your things. There is one spare outlet for charging electronics. Location: 1. Two miles of Rt 89 2. 9 mins to Randolph with restaurants, cafes, and shops 3. 30 min to Montpelier, 1 hour to Burlington, 45 min to Woodstock 4. 23 min to our favorite restaurant of all time, Worthy Burger! Things to Do in the Area: 1. Our town of Randolph (9 min away) is a hidden gem with cute shops, cafes, and restaurants. Catch a movie at our adorable one-room movie theater. Real butter on the popcorn! 2. Take a class at White River Art Center 3. Get a maple creemee at Silloway Maple (1 mile away!) 4. Jump on the trail system at the back of our farm for a nice hike, snowshoe, or ski 5. Head to Montpelier for the best thai food in the world, or our favorite sourdough pizza. The heating is electric and keeps the yurt quite warm down to about 10 degrees outside. We recommend bringing a nice wool sweater if you run on the cold side. The kitchen/bath house, about 40 steps from the yurt features a composting toilet, shower, sink, coffee maker, microwave, and fridge. BYO towels for the shower. The view from the fire pit is one of our very favorites on the farm. This is a fantastic place to use as base camp for adventures or to just come and fully relax for a few days. Please Note: Due to the nature of our farm and the animals working on it, we are not able to host any animals including service animals. This is to keep our animals (and yours!) safe and happy. Thank you for understanding! Guest access Guests have full access to the yurt. It is a couple hundred feet away from the back of the farm house which is also rented out on Airbnb. The door to the yurt of located on the opposite side of the house so there is plenty of privacy. 45 minute farm tour available for $60. Sesame and Manolito, since then, we have been growing and growing, having now, 25 goats, milking 10 mothers, by hand.With all the fun, that is involve with a farm, we have been making cheese in our kitchen and building a barn. It is time to get the license, for cheese making, and here is when we need your help.We need 20.000 to finish building the barn, with a kitchen, a bathroom, an industrial pasteuriser, a septic system, and much more. We are artisan cheese producers. We are farming 48 acres mostly wooded both sides of Lincoln Brook, on Lincoln Gap rd. We are reclaiming some meadows. We have 26 goats, 20 chickens. Milking now 10 mothers by hand, making cheese in small batches fresh, every day. We make 7 types of cheeses:Chevre, mozzarella, feta, queso blanco, apple wood smoked queso blanco, type of Manchego, and a ripened cheese.Our goal is to preserve and protect the land while using organic principles to produce products for local consumption and enjoyment. Our Chèvre is a fresh, smooth creamy goats spread, with a little bit of tang with hints of berry bushes and clover. Great for appetizers, to mix with herbs, spread on toast with butter, to add to scramble eggs and much more!Our queso blanco is spanish for white cheese, latin america specialty. This cheese is a firm cheese, with a fresh mildly sweet flavor. Great for cooking! Does not melt while fried or grilled! Take on the flavor of the food and spices in a recipe!Our Apple wood smoked queso blanco is spanish for white cheese and is marinated in olive oil, balsamic vinegar and salt. Great for cooking, for appetizers and for salads.Our Feta is strongly flavored salted cheese, originated in Greece. Often crumbled in little pieces on salads or tacos.Our goat Mozzarella is a firm style cheese with with a slight tang. Our cozy yurt is located within minutes of amazing hiking, biking, breweries and much more! Sit around the campfire while listening to our resident owls or stare up at the stars through the dome. Our yurt has a loft where you can climb the ladder to a queen-sized bed. Or you can sleep on the full-sized futon on the main floor. We closed in half of the area under the loft for the bathroom, including a flush toilet, sink and shower. Please note there is a folding privacy screen but no door to the bathroom. The yurt has a small kitchen with a small refrigerator, toaster oven, coffeemaker, double cooktop, sink, pots, pans dishware and silverware. In colder weather the space is heated with a Rinai propane heater. The whole yurt is yours to use as well as the associated porch/outdoor space and firepit. Wood-fired sauna (Available if we're around during your stay. Please let us know if you're interested when you book and then coordinate timing when you arrive. No guarantees however...) Did I mention that our property abuts the 4,000 acre Bristol Cliffs Wilderness Area? Notch Brook and the New Haven River, which are just down the road from us, provide ample fishing and swimming opportunities. Are you interested in sampling Vermont’s famous brews, wines and spirits? We’re 5 minutes from the Bobcat Cafe and 15 minutes from Middlebury where you’ll find Otter Creek Brewery, Lincoln Peak Vineyard and other breweries and distilleries. Are you curious about how maple syrup is made? We’d be happy to give you a tour of our 750 tap sugaring operation and samples of our syrup, candy and other maple confections. Please note that the Yurt is about seventy five feet from our house on a working tree farm in a rural - residential neighborhood. We are generally very quiet and you will have all the privacy you desire. We do have a young daughter that likes to play outside in our yard, we do occasionally run tools and equipment and there is occasional road noise. If you are looking for a true wilderness type experience away from it all, this likely isn't the best option for you.

Retreat to our cozy cabin and relax by the wood fire. This enchanting cabin is very special to us! Previous friends and guests have exclaimed how thoughtful the details in the cabin are and what a great experience they had staying in it. It is a strawbale cabin with an earth roof on top. Tiny, but mighty, this cabin has electricity, a tiny refrigerator, wood stove and a comfy loft with a bed. The composting toilet is available outside. Wifi is available inside as well. To get to the cabin: 4WD recommended, ice and rain can greatly affect the roads. There is a parking spot available to park across from Deer Road. Take the very short walk to the cabin.Near our site is Green Mountain National Forest to explore. Blue Lake is just a short walk down our hill. Blue Lake is widely used year round for swimming, ice fishing, seasonal fishing, kayaking and canoeing. Long Trail (Mt.Abe) is used for Bike trails/x country trails and is connected right to our homestead. Continue on the trail and access some of the best mountain biking trails and snow biking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and hiking.Sugarbush Resort is a 10 minute drive and is one of the best ski mountains in the area! If you are looking for gym and shower facilities, you can stop into the Sugarbush Resort, just a short driving distance, for a day pass fee. Massages are available as an Extra during booking!

My partner Kait and I stayed in this magical yurt for a couple of days and honestly didn’t want to leave. From the moment we arrived, the host’s hospitality was above and beyond welcoming, kind, and thoughtful. The yurt itself was incredibly cozy and beautifully designed. The bed was super comfy, and the whole space felt like a warm hug, especially as snow gently fell outside it was like living inside a snow globe. We also loved how close we were to nature. There were some incredible hiking trails right nearby, and the view at Blueberry Lake was absolutely breathtaking. It’s the perfect place to relax, reconnect, and soak in the quiet beauty of Vermont. Can’t recommend it enough. We’ll definitely be back!

My husband and I spent our 1 year anniversary here and the space just made our experience all the more special! Sharon’s husband (Mark, we believe?) saw us as we parked our car and gave us a tour, making sure all of our questions were answered and that we were comfortable w/ using the amenities. The yurt was phenomenal - rustic but comfortable, very spacious and clean. Comfortable bed and pillows with plenty of blankets on the side. The wood stove was easy to use and we were welcome to get more wood in the back. Outhouse was close by. Downtown was <10min drive away - we found our new favorite bakery, Bohemian Bakery! Our hosts gave us plenty of helpful suggestions for our stay. We hope to come back in the summer!

Our property is nestled in the foothills of the Mad River Valley, close to the headwaters of the river. The property is composed of wetlands, agricultural meadows, old apple trees, and hardwood forest with 700 feet of elevation. The land has over a half a mile of river frontage and several streams, a beautiful varied forest, rambling topography, and plenty of wildlife. Many lessons in tracking may be found as whitetails, moose, black bear, fishers, bobcats, porcupine, coyotes, foxes, mink, ermine, snowshoe hare, wild turkey, and ruffled grouse, are seen and tracked. We are 30 minutes from the Burlington International Airport, and the closest Amtrak train station in Rutland is an hour drive. It is best to arrive before sunset. Please do not arrive in the middle of the night.

This property is part of an original hundred acre woods in the Adirondack Park overlooking Lincoln Pond. My grandfather moved an old ice house under the property in 1943 and built the existing camp in 1949. Her family lives in Florida and has continued to maintain and improve the old camp for the last 40 years. After having done selective logging two years ago we discovered a spot in the back of the property overlooking the pond and with the removal of a couple of trees have a beautiful view of Lincoln Pond. The deck with the Yurt is the beginning of an eventual cabin. I live in the main house from late May until late October and decided to share it with like minded nature loving folks. It’s a 1/2 mile hike from the parking lot with total privacy.Learn more about this land:Located on top of a hill on a 100 acre wildlife sanctuary overlooking Lincoln Pond and the Adirondack High Peaks. Private Yurt on wooden deck with solar shower and water pumped up from nearby creek. Access from parking area over old logging road by SUV or ATV or a 12 minute hike from the parking area. 15 minute drive to numerous Adirondack hiking trails. Enjoy starry nights with a Biolite Bonfire. Two twin air beds and one king air bed. Bring your sleeping bags. Glamping at its best!
