Weekend Trip to Mt Baker Tiny Cabin

A perfect tiny cabin to escape to. The bed was super comfortable and you can hear the little stream from inside. The grill and the water jug were a plus! Everything was very clean and tidy, including the outhouse. Amazing location if you’re bringing pups with you. If you need anything town is so close but yet you’re so isolated. I can’t say enough good things, 10/10 for sure!

I very much enjoyed my camping experience at Rooted Acres Farm. Jerry was a wonderful host. He has created an amazing space there. Everything is as depicted. Some real engineering has gone into the off-grid cabin design. Things have been quite thoughtfully laid out. The cowboy hot tub is a real treat. It takes some time to get it up to a good temp but once it's there it stays hot for hours. You just have to be careful not to let it get too hot for your personal comfort.

I loved staying at Chris’s cabin. I had a relaxing weekend and felt really at home in the cabin. Everything was exactly how he described. It rained a lot during my stay, so I spent a lot of time being cozy in the cabin. I was able to stay warm with the wood stove and the little kitchen had everything I needed to make meals. The dry cabin experience was really fun and easy! The outhouse didn’t smell and was well lit at night. I did some outings to the Wild Center and to some shops in Saranac (including visits to the Loon center and a tuberculosis museum). I’m excited to stay again when the weather is a little warmer so I can take the canoe out!

I had a wonderful stay at the Mt. Baker Tiny Cabin. It was perfect for my needs. It's very private, with no other houses or camps within view, and no road noise. This charming place was clean and the bed very comfortable. Even in early May, I was able to sleep with the windows open and enjoy the bird song and the little babbling brook. It's hard to believe this place is less than 5 minutes from town. I really appreciated being able to bring my dogs. I will most definitely be booking another stay.

The pictures posted do not do it justice, great host, very welcoming, great spot with beautiful rolling hills, bed in the shed very quaint and special, outdoor center facilities very nice. Will definitely return, very relaxing.

2 nights at Little Log Cabin in Vermont

This little cabin was the perfect little get-a-way for a couple of days. The sound of the little brook beside the cabin was soothing. It’s located on a dirt road and it was a bit muddy when we visited so I’d recommend something with AWD or 4WD. The wood stove kept the cabin very warm. PK provided the basic essentials for a short stay. I do wish there had been easier access to walk down to the brook but it was still manageable. PK was very quick to response and a great host!

The forest retreat cabin was great! Secluded, the fire stove kept us warm in the cold, windy night, and Sara and Bob were kind and helpful throughout! Great communication, the sugar shack was super cool to see, and the syrup was amazing! We had everything we needed for a great stay and will definitely be back again!

AMAZING views!!! The cabin was beautifully rustic! We typically bring all of our own gear. However, Kathleen and John had everything you could need! Their dead end road leads to beautiful trails through the tapped maple trees into a large field. Our dogs ran like crazy!! Kathleen and John were gracious enough to let us borrow their snow shoes! Very nice people and private cabin! We also checked out Hill Farmstead Brewery a short drive away, which is ranked on many levels for many beers. Thanks for the stay!

Weekend Trip to Rooted Acres Farm

We had a wonderful weekend getaway here! Such a cozy cabin with expansive views of Stowe and Mansfield, and well connected to outdoor recreation areas. The cabin itself was very comfortable with its wood burning stove and sleeper futon and was well furnished with cooking supplies and silverware. The host Kathleen was really helpful and had great recommendations for activities in the area. Highly recommend!

A friend and I took our newly 18 year old daughters to Jerry's land over the weekend it was just what we all needed the hot tub was amazing we played lots of fun games and ate delicious food. With both our girls graduating high school this year it was nice to have a trip that we will have great memories of when we send them off at the end of the year. Highly recommend.

I just wanted to write about Les and Jenny's place and share our absolute delight with our recent stay. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the most adorable alpacas! They added such a charming touch to our surroundings and made for some wonderful photo opportunities. The cabin was immaculate, warm, and cozy with the pellet stove - the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The little touches of cabin decor and the abundant windows for natural light, really made us feel at home (that we wish to have!). We've already recommended your the cabin to our friends, and we will find an excuse come back again soon! Reminder: no running water and winter-y things like that! But there is electricity & the pellet stove was a luxury!

Weekend Trip to C.Valley Alpaca and Beef Ranch

What an absolutely stunning property. The views are beautiful and the animals, ranging from a barn cat, a wonderful dog, and some endearingly funny looking alpacas, add a charm of their own to your stay. Les and Jenny were gracious hosts, communicative, and even went as far as to invite me to church Sunday morning. Overall, my dog and I had a great stay in a serene environment; it was just the weekend we were looking for. I will certainly be back to stay with the Alpacas again.

My wife and I had another wonderful stay at Jerry's cabin. We first stayed there December of 2022 and it was good to see and enjoy the subtle improvements over that time, demonstrating the host's thoughtfulness towards his guests. We stayed mid February with 30"+ of snow and cold nights dipping to around 0 f with a stiff windchill. The new propane heater kept the nip out of the air and the indoor cooking setup was well stocked with a counter top burner. Dimmable LED city lights and battery powered refrigerator were both nice touches. The improved wood-fired hot tub was a perfect way to relax after days of Nordic skiing at Craftsbury.

We arrived just before a large snowfall and had an amazing time snowshoeing and cross country skiing. Can't say enough about the hosts! They were communicative, highly flexible, friendly, and so generous with their time, resources, and knowledge. They made sure we were safe getting there and leaving on wintery roads, let us borrow some ski gear, made sure we were warm enough, showed us the nearby ski trails, and cleared the drive for us to leave on a particularly snowy morning. You can ski right from the cabin on pristine trails and snowshoe all you want. The cabin stays warmer than others we've stayed in during the winter with a wood stove. The hosts provided plenty of drinking water and wood. Very comfortable futon. Spectacular views. Quiet, safe, private. Electricity was a welcome touch. It doesn't get better than this for a winter weekend getaway. Thank you, hosts, for everything! We hope to be back again one day!

The River House

The river house is an off grid house/cabin on 20 acres surrounded by thousands of acres of protected national forest. It is a half mile hike-in or 4 wheel drive in up a logging road. It is very private, with running water and a shower and 1 1/2 bathrooms, a loft, 2 bedrooms and ping pong table. A stream runs through the property that has small swimming holes and larger swimming holes are just a short drive away. Hay Fever Farm

We live on 75 acres of woods and hay fields. Larry is a self-taught hay-farmer since we moved from the mid-west in 2007. The property was a fallow dairy farm from the 70's. It used to be called Common View Farm. We hear the name came from the fact that we can see the Craftsbury Common from the height of the property. Legend holds that people have seen strange lights and orbs in the area. It may just be a yarn told by the locals to the new flatlanders. I have never noticed anything of the sort and I have been looking. Who doesn't like a good New England ghost story? Larry farms about 30 acres of the property; square bales for horses. The rest are woods. We have our own old mare, Ruby, which gave Larry the haying idea. She has two goat buddies, Danny-Boy and Brownie (guess what color he is?). Our dog, Tinker, runs the land and loves dog friends as well as humans. Our views are of the Lowell Mountains closest and the Green Mountains in the distance. You can see the Lowell wind farm on the horizon. We have a large garden and raspberry patch. When in season, you are free to pick! The house on the property, Larry built. It's a beauty. He also has two shops and some barns. No shortage of farm implements. You are welcome to walk to your heart's content and to visit Ruby and the boys. Learn more about this land:The Northwoods Gypsy Wagon is a 3-minute walk into the woods from the parking area. You can have all the solitude you'd like or visit the nearby towns. In this off-grid wagon, you will have an indoor cooking stove (2 burner propane) and a propane stove for the cooler nights but no running water, therefore no indoor plumbing. Fresh water, battery operated lights, solar panel which provides one lamp and a place to plug in your phone, (please refer to directions in the wagon on how to use the solar electricity and propane stove), coffee/tea set ups, basic spices, paper towels, TP, linens/towels, soap, cooking/eating utensils provided. Wi-Fi is not available and cell coverage is spotty. There is a 'fancy' privy exclusively for the wagon and a place for a cold-water wash up. If you'd like a shower, this can be coordinated in the house, next door.This wagon has a small sleeping berth (cozy for either 2 people who really like each other or a solitary gypsy).This is truly tiny space, however. You will have a table and chairs for a sit down chat or meal. Enjoy the outdoor kitchen area and fire ring with plenty of fallen wood nearby for a fire in the ring or the chiminaria. In the dryer months fire-burning may be ill-advised or outright prohibited, you'll be advised. Craftsbury is a farming, skiing and educational community. Food growers, cheese makers, brewers, Sterling College and the Craftsbury Outdoor Center are the backbone of our economy. We are a hop, skip and a jump from Farmstead Brewery, Jasper Hill (or Cellers) cheese makers, Circus Smirkus, Bread and Puppet radical political theater. The Museum of Everyday Life, and the Highland Arts Center. I love it here and my guess is you will, too, if you like mountain views, great day hikes, local food and drink and a laid back vibe.

Adirondack Cabin for Unwinding

Sleep comfortably in a quaint cabin with easy access to Adirondack hiking, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, hunting and relaxing. Our cabin is tucked away, bordered by NYS Forever Wild land to the south and west and few neighbors to the north and east. Built by a local doctor in 1924, this cabin was his family's summer home. He was also a talented watercolor painter and his original work is displayed throughout. We are only the third owners and we have been enjoying the cabin since the 80's. In the last 30 years we have introduced some creature comforts (hot/cold water, electricity) while maintaining its original charm. In a time where it is so hard to disconnect from the world, we offer a comfy bed, fresh air, starry nights, a fire and no cell service at the cabin. Learn more about this land: Come, sit back, disconnect and relax in our unique cabin in the Adirondack Park. Our 100-year-old cabin comfortably sleeps seven. There are two small private bedrooms: one with a queen and the second with a full bed. The third room is open to the living room and features a bunk bed. Linens, blankets and towels are provided. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware, a full-sized stove, refrigerator, microwave and farmhouse sink with hot and cold running water. The bathroom has a flush toilet, sink and tub with handheld shower. There is a pellet stove (pellets provided) in our kitchen/dining area and a wood stove (wood provided) in the living room. Both bedrooms have thermostat controlled electric heat. The cabin is a true escape: no internet, no telephone and hit or (mostly) miss cell service. There is electricity if you need to recharge a device and there is a great sound system to Bluetooth your tunes. Built by Dr. James Cormier in 1924, our cabin became a summer getaway for his family. He was also an artist and his original watercolors still adorn its walls. We are only the third owners in nearly 100 years and we have been building cherished memories there for decades. We have made improvements to the property while retaining its charm. There is one P/T neighbor who shares our driveway but the property provides privacy. We are adjacent to a NYS Forest Preserve and surrounded by woods. The cabin is a short drive from Lake Placid and Saranac Lake and close to hiking the Adirondacks, canoeing in the St. Regis Canoe Area, close to the Six Nations Indian Museum and an easy drive to the Visitors Interpretive Center at Paul Smith’s College. For the water and fishing enthusiast a 3 minute drive or 10 minute walk brings you to the North Branch of the Saranac River, Rainbow Lake and Lake Kushaqua. Local fishing, and hunting opportunities abound. The cabin’s location also offers history buffs a chance to explore the impact of tuberculosis sanatoriums which served patients from the big cities in the early 20th century. Sites are available to explore within walking distance and a small museum in Saranac Lake is worth the trip. Lastly, there is a cool antique store within a few miles whose owner is always available for conversation about the area. After a day of ADK fun, you can kick back around the fire ring (outdoor burning wood supplied) and take in the stars. If the weather isn't cooperating, stay in with a good book, play some card/board games or just spend some uninterrupted time with people you care about. There is a cabin on the property, which is available for limited rentals. However, we have a great flat yard just a short (2 min) walk to South Pond thats perfect for a tent. There's a rustic outhouse, fire pit, picnic table, and usually games like badminton setup. Our property is a couple miles down a private dirt road. Fishing is great (with a license of course), and the water is perfect for kayaking and paddle boarding.

Shaker Mountain Refuge sits on 300, mostly wooded acres at the foot of the Green Mountains. With outstanding views of Camel's Hump (Vermont's second tallest peak), the refuge is a wonderful place to sit back, relax and enjoy the natural world. There are numerous hiking trails on site, as well as a beautiful swimming pond. Access to Camels Hump hiking trails is a short drive away. Nearby, Camels Hump Nordic ski and bike center boasts incredible mountain biking and nordic ski trails. Just down the hill, the Huntington River has an abundance of swimming holes and fishing spots. Just over the Appalachian Gap are the Mad River Glen and Sugarbush ski resorts. There are many excellent restaurants within a 20 minute drive.

Access the Long Trail at multiple locations within a few miles. Or, access the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail (93+ miles of non-motorized riding/walking on a converted and maintained railway bed). FISHING/HUNTING In the mountains we have streams, brooks, and rivers. There are many hotspots for fishing—lots of brook trout! No matter the rod you use, there are many places to try your skills. A fishing/hunting license is needed. CANOE, KAYAK, TUBE Got your own? Bring it! The Lamoille River is a few miles away and a favorite for water lovers. Don't have one, there is a great rental place down the road where you can take one out for the day. Looking for another option to the river? The Belvidere Pond is down the road and offers a peaceful place to paddle around surrounded by the mountains. MAPLE SYRUP/SUGARBUSH Want to learn about the maple sugaring process? We are always happy to give you a tour of our sugarhouse and the woods, and explain how we turn the tree sap into yummy Maple Syrup. (We only boil January-early April.) We do have this year's crop bottled and available for sale! Buy one for morning pancakes, to add to your morning coffee, or to take home! WILDLIFE/BERRIES/MUSHROOMS/FIDDLEHEADS Depending on the time of the year, you can find wild raspberries, blackberries, mushrooms, and fiddleheads. (Please do not pick or eat something if you don't know if it is poisonous!) And, wildlife are around. Look for tracks in the soil, signs they have been there, or if you are really quiet (usually in the early morning or at dusk) you might see deer, geese, or wild turkeys! OTHER ACTIVITIES - Smugglers Notch is a quick drive (South) - Jay Peak is a quick drive (North) - Disc Golf, Ropes Course, Golf, and more. - Access local eateries like the Burger Barn - a local favorite, grap a yummy sandwich or pizza at the Cupboard. - Explore local breweries and distilleries - Forgot something? There are small groceries, a couple of hardware stores, gas stations, etc within a quick drive. Camp sites include flat area, fire ring. Electricity and water at 2 sites. 1 site has a poured concrete pad -- perfect for a camper/RV. The other sites (grassy) can accomodate a camper/RV or tents. Please be prepared to provide your own camping toilet and pack out your trash. If you bring your dog(s), please clean up after them and have "control" as the dirt road is fully in view of the sites. Mt Baker Tiny Cabin

This off-the-grid tiny house is nestled on a 23 acre parcel at the end of a quarter-mile dirt road. The property itself is secluded but is less than 2 miles from the heart of Saranac Lake's downtown. This property is bordered by the Saranac River, the backside of Baker Mountain and State Forest. The only other building on the property is our timberframe which we may or may not be at during the time of your visit. The property does have private trails up to the cliffs on the backside of Baker mtn however, the Saranac River is down a steep embankment so it does not make for a good place to launch a boat (several public boat launches nearby). The Mt Baker tiny house is a great basecamp for hiking the Saranac Lake 6-ers, paddling/boating along the Saranac Chain of lakes or Saranac River, Mountain Biking at Dewey, Pisgah or other nearby BETA trails. IMPORTANT DETAILS: This tiny cabin is completely off the grid: no electricity, heat or cooling. Queen sized bed - we provide the linens. The driveway is narrow - so nothing in tow. Drinking water is provided via jug and dispenser. There is a brand new outhouse (no flushable toilet) We have a designated spot for campfires (smores are a must) There is an older propane grill outside for guest use
