This place is great. Loved that it is so remote. Our site was nice. The flowing stream is a really nice feature as well. Walking distance to a couple of great fishing spots. Caught my best bass on the fly to date, probably 4 lbs. There was not much natural shade, so glad we had our own canopy so we could enjoy the great view.

***THIS CAMPSITE IS WORTH EVERY PENNY***
I tent camped at Site #1 with solar panels and a generator—absolutely perfect setup. I drive a Chrysler 300 and had no trouble getting in; just slowed down in a few spots and crossed a couple of small creeks. (It’s early August and the area has had heavy rain, so it’ll likely be even smoother when you go.)
I had the entire lake and surrounding area to myself. Total peace. Total seclusion. The hiking is incredible, with a hidden gem along the trail that’s worth every step. I only stayed one day, and I regret not booking a full week.
The host’s directions are crystal clear—if you can follow instructions, you’ll have no issues. I have three kids under five, and this place is a dream for families. Out of the 20+ places I’ve camped this summer, this is one is hands down my favorite. It’s obvious the owners genuinely care about preserving and protecting their land—you’ll see exactly what I mean the moment you arrive.
Book it. Don’t think twice.

We really enjoyed our stay at this campsite. The location is beautiful, with great views right by the lake. During our visit, the lake was overflowing into a small stream that connected to another lake down the hill—such a peaceful background sound throughout our stay.
It did rain quite a bit while we were there, so the area got a little mucky, but that didn’t take away from how much we enjoyed it.
We also took the trail up to the nearby plane crash site, which was a unique experience. Definitely recommend having a 4x4 vehicle for that one—there’s a steep 22-degree incline before you reach it, and if the trail is wet, it becomes even more challenging. Still, very cool to see the remnants of the plane.
The only thing we would have loved more is a clearer path or access point to the lake. It was pretty overgrown, and with the rain, we didn’t get the chance to explore it up close. Hopefully next time!

We stayed at Camp site 2 it was off the gravel road on a little grass trail to a nice open area. it was very private and super dark to see tons of stars. We went Overlading on 3 trails. Without giving away too much the 1st purple trail was fun and calm until it got to a very steep decline that not many rigs can handle! Many vehicles can go to that point tho then hike it! Second trail was very calm but super narrow with brush/trees around! The 3rd trail without giving away too much is definitely for more experienced overlanders or hikers who can climb some harsh steps! Also on the 3rd trail I recommend walking it, driving it, then walking it again just to make sure u don’t bite off more than you can handle. You have some areas u can bust a U-turn if it’s too much but they are far apart so make sure you can handle the trail to the next clearing! It was a fun camping experience with pretty ponds and wild life.

3 nights at Hill Terrace
This is a great place close to the riverbank. Nice walkway down as well as kayaks on site to use. Cabins are about 100 years old but have some updates that makes it nice to stay in. The host was great very helpful and quick to respondon, also has a guy that is next door if anything pops up. Beds were comfy and the patios are very nice to sit on. Would recommend to stay for a nice river trip.

Great ranch and I look forward booking a different site. The rain made it a little sloppy at secluded#2 and the 4Wheel drive came in handy. Great sunset and seclusion, which is what I was looking for. The only caution is the exact camp site has a lot of big red ants so I had to go down further.

I loved camping here it was so secluded and private the closest campers were about a 1/2 mile away plus we had some Cow visitors!!
I really loved camping here although some things to note
We lost 2 tires on an F-150 truck in our 2 day stay here so I would definitely be careful with what vehicle you bring
Lastly the lakes were not quite what I expected but that wasn’t a problem because there are multiple access points to the Nueces river close by !

This Hill Country camping at its best! This site is beautiful and very private! We had a great time paddleboarding on the river! We saw lots of wildlife and fell asleep to the sound of the water under the stars! The directions to the site are a bit complex but the instructions sent by our host were very clear and accurate. The site was clean and eat to use with a stone fire pit. The nearby town of Camp Wood had a good restaurant called Canyon BBQ and grill. And further along in Leakey we found a few cute Antique shops and a coffee shop.

Beautiful property! The host was wonderful and very responsive to messages. The campsite was nice and secluded. We had privacy for most of the time we were in camp. The 4 wheel drive trails were exactly what we were looking for. Perfect for someone new to off-roading. Just technical enough, but nothing extreme. We would definitely go back! Highly recommend!

We had a great time camping here. The directions were great and found our site with no issues. We were able to do a couple of trails with our Tacomas and looking forward to coming back and riding more trails. Views were great especially the mountain top views. It was cool to see the cows roaming around. It felt like we were the only ones in the ranch. There’s not a lot of places to camp and ride 4x4 trails in Texas and we’re glad to find one in the Hill Country. Ashley was super friendly and answered all my questions. We can’t wait to go back.

Phenomenal experience! Beautiful property with incredible views from the hilltop. Be prepared to be truly off grid. Great communication by host with very comprehensive instructions and attentiveness. Almost don’t want to leave a review, lest the secret get out but feel obligated to do so!
