. These are unique camping spots along the Guadalupe River. I didn’t exactly understand how unique until I started getting feedback from my campers.
The surrounding scenery will lower your blood pressure and do wonders to let you reconnect with nature. Sit back and close your eyes late in the evening and listen to all the wildlife talking to each other. There is faint traffic noise from 90A about a 1/3 of a mile away but it calms down after 7 or so.
Currently no amenities but I am in the plans for some portable bathrooms. Please be prepared to cover all your bathroom and cooking needs. I do have some good clean well water from a faucet on the way into the campgrounds.
Campfires are permitted.
There is a convenience store (Diamond A) with clean bathrooms and a great bbq just 5 miles to the west on 90A and a Walmart and HEB 10 miles to the east on 90A. (Both Diamond A and Walmart sell fishing licenses if you need one.
Dogs are allowed at sites 3 and 4 but not at 1 or 2 where my livestock guardian dogs have access to. No matter the size or temperament of your pets you are always expected to have them under your control at ALL times. I have very small livestock in the area frequently

We're a five acre piece of an historic Texas ranch in Southwest San Antonio, just 20-minutes from downtown, sitting along the Medina River. Come for the day or stay the night for some primitive camping. We've got plenty of room for tents, roof-top-tent setups or car/van dry-camping.
We’re currently in the building/restoring process, but we’ll have some electrical, drinking water, fire pits, plenty of shade, compost toilets, water in the river, and plenty of good vibes.
Old Herrera Ranch has been in our family since the early 1800's and holds a lot history. A couple of our old buildings, the "jacals", are dated from around the 1830-40's. You'll also see the old "Dance Hall" which is great for hanging out or even some cover if it rains. They say that Santa Anna's army, invading from Mexico, may have crossed through our area on their way to the Alamo. This may be because our part of the river includes some of the more shallow areas of the Medina River. This was my second time camping in the Lost Woods and first time with my Girl Scout troop. The teens loved seeing the farm animals and petting the goats. The other campers were considerate and turned off music at an extremely reasonable hour. If you’re looking for a super quiet experience, try to book a campsite further from Braun Road. The trails were great and we had a wonderful time! Thank you!

I'm so tempted to give this place a blistering review in order to discourage interest in this special spot. We just discovered this gem and can only imagine it's popularity exploding as more people discover it. Truth is, this spot is amazing! Having only 3-4 sites on the property, you get much more privacy & space than a typical state park. You won't be in complete seclusion, but there is plenty of space to offer privacy between the sites. The sites are all awesome, but a couple are right on the bank of the river and are especially dreamy (1st come, 1st serve though). All have a fire ring (BYO grill grate), a picnic table, and strings lights over the area, that's about it. There are wagons to help transport your gear from the parking area downhill to the camp area (~100 yds). Keep in mind that the heavy gear you roll down, you'll have to PULL back up hill on a loose river rock trail (harder than you might think). Host Laura is super friendly and welcoming; very quick to answer any questions or messages throughout the weekend. We were hoping that the river would live up to the pictures in the listing, but actually it's not even close. The reality is so much more beautiful than the pics could show. We paddle-boarded about a mile or so up river and through largely natural, undeveloped river banks, periodically breaking to swim and float. Lots of cool river fauna to spot. This camping spot is everything the listing makes it out to be and much more. Can't wait to return!

I love love this site! Billy is an awesome host. I can’t wait to come back! The site is secluded and all you hear is the nature and the occasional noise from the highway (nothing crazy). I was so happy with my stay here. I got to see fireflies at night and I felt so magical! 😭 my dog loved it here too! He was tired from all the swimming.
