Awesome spot for a weekend getaway. Peaceful, with plenty of space to explore. The pond was great for swimming, and the kids loved the boats and paddleboards. Perfect mix of fun and relaxing—definitely coming back.

Really easy to get to, arrived with a warm welcome and a guide around the area and the tent. It was everything we could have asked for. Jeff was literally the best he checked on us and brought us fresh fire wood. He even gave our kids some feed to give to the goats. We were able to take our kids on a paddle boat for the first time on the pond that was by our tent. It was super clean and super homie! Loved every minute!

I use HipCamp a lot and this place easily went to the top of my list of favorites!! You can’t find many places where your dog can just run around and safely do whatever they want. But then there was also AC and goats and a gorgeous view of the sunset and stars! And literally everything you could need for comfort and convenience. Towels, lanterns, cooking and eating utensils, wifi, etc, etc! My pup and I were both very happy here and we can’t wait to come back and stay for longer!

Peaceful and beautiful. Stayed for one night end of May. It was hot and we camped in a shady spot. Thankful for the wheel carts. Randall was a great a host and we enjoyed the fire he started. We survived our first thunderstorm and slept peacefully. Will be back in fall!

This place was amazing! Melissa met us as we pulled in. My two little ones immediately adored her. She was so nice and welcoming. I was honestly blown away with how secluded and “in the woods out in the middle of nowhere” it felt. The boys (6 and 3) and I haven’t done a real camping trip yet and I wanted to do kind of a trial run first. It honestly couldn’t have went better. They said it felt like we went through a portal! We had plenty of fire wood to roast marshmallows and hot dogs and the boys loved the teepee! Thank you again Melissa for such an amazing experience!

We had a great time on an overnight camping trip to this site. Ms April took our group of 4 adults and 4 children on an awesome horseback ride as well. The site had lots of ants due in part to the heavy rains we had prior to our stay.

I had an amazing experience at Sonja’s place! The views were stunning, and it felt like the perfect escape peaceful and relaxing, yet surprisingly close to Dallas. This was my first time camping and I went solo, so I was definitely feeling anxious, but the moment I arrived and met Sonja and her sweet daughter Olivia, I immediately felt safe and welcomed. Sonja went above and beyond to make sure everything was convenient and comfortable. She mowed the grass before I arrived and sprayed the bathroom for mosquitoes, which was a huge relief. The bathroom itself was stocked with everything I could possibly need bug sprays, fire starters, a lighter, batteries, OFF! spray, sanitizing wipes, and more. Honestly, I regretted stopping at Walmart for those items Sonja had it all covered! One of the highlights of my stay was getting to meet her baby goats they were so much fun to play with! And to top it all off, she even gifted me fresh eggs, which was such a kind and thoughtful touch. This was truly a special experience, and I’m already planning to come back hopefully next time with my husband. If you have kids, this is a very family friendly spot where you’ll feel safe, cared for, and have a great time. Highly, highly recommend!

Everyone is welcome and campers are treated like family. He can teach your kids to kayak and build a camp fire. You can fish for largemouth bass, cat, crappy and bluegill in the two ponds and swim, paddle kayaks and paddle boards, hike the jungle trail and socialize around the campfires. There are no designated campsites. You can camp anywhere except between the green building and the front pond. No vehicles are allowed back on the property. Off road wagons are provided to help haul your gear. Front pond camping areas are 30-100 yards from parking area. The rear pond is more secluded but farther from the parking and outhouse. There are four fire pits around the front pond and one next to the rear pond. The tiny handcrafted Hummingbird Tree House overlooks the front pond and features a queen bed, a smaller bed in the loft, electricity, lights, a fan, screened operable windows and outdoor table and chairs on the elevated deck. There is no heat or air conditioning in the tree house. You must bring your own sleeping bags, blankets and pillows. No food, smoking or pets allowed in the tree house. There is a rustic outhouse with a modern composting toilet, sink, lights, soap, etc. and a nearby cold water outdoor shower (no privacy), sink and faucet.

Fieldsong Farm

In 2013, we bought our 13 acres from a larger parcel of land that had been owned and farmed by the Snider family for 150 years. (Note that we live on Snider Lane). The Sniders played an important part in the development of our town, Lucas, and surrounding schools. The rest of the land has been sold to two families, and all three purchasers (that includes us!) are establishing small family farms. Hurray! Plus the Snider's old house and barn next door are being renovated by the new owners! Since 2013, we have brought in water and electricity to the land, built fences, a house and several barns. We have a flock of chickens, a bunch of loud, nosey Nubian dairy goats, 2 cats and 2 dogs. We farm organic vegetables, and have planted some fruit trees. We are committed to conservation of our land and the wildlife that call it home, and are working to restore our wildflower meadow (location of the campsite) to original prairie state. Come see us; we'd like to share it all with you! Learn more about this land: Come to Fieldsong Farm, absorb the peace and serenity, and leave refreshed! Stake your tent on the edge of our tallgrass wildflower meadow, and immerse yourself in diversity where the city ends and the country begins. Enjoy a fire in the fire ring from your seat on a "porch" swing as the sun goes down and the wildlife begin their nightly symphony. When the sun comes up, you'll have many choices to make--cycling, horseback riding, fishing, boating, paddling, hiking, running, strolling, visiting with the goats, cats and chickens, helping with farm chores, or just sitting to enjoy the peace and serenity of the farm.
