Interested in experiencing a night or two in a school bus? Come stay in a converted school bus on our land in Lewisburg TN. Frizzle was fully converted about 5 years ago and has been traveling around for the last few years. Known as Skoolies, she has been fit out inside in a Maine Camp theme, and is a comfortable stay for up to 3 people. Lewisburg is halfway between Nashville (45 mins) and Huntsville AL (55 mins). Jack Daniels Distillery is about 45 mins, Henry Horton State Park is less than 1/2 hour. Columbia, Leipers Fork, Franklin and Brentwood are all about 1/2 hour drive in various directions. We do have a fire pit, a screened in canopy and coleman camp stove to cook on. (the stove/oven in the bus are not operational). TV is connected to a DVD player, no internet connectivity - though you can connect thru your phone/data. AC and Heat is in bus - but ya gotta keep in mind it is a school bus (AKA steel can) and both heating and cooling is not the same as in a house! If you're looking for a different experience, have always wanted to see if Bus Life is for you - this is a great start!

Hoot Owl Hollow Campground

The 48 acre campground has just 3 big tent sites for more seclusion and is almost all old forest with wide trails and huge old growth trees. Mother Nature has a lot to offer when you cross the creek into the first two campsites that are on the 30' creek. One big spring runs through the middle of the 2 sites with small cascading waterfalls. Both sites have string lights and 120V extension cords. These two sites are separated by the driveway and about 150' apart but a bridge connects the two if you have another couple that wants to join you these two spots are perfect for privacy and companionship. SITE ONE: The nicer of the two sites along the creek, has granite counters, a round fire pit with a fold down heavy cooking grate, charcoal grill and a large wrought iron table and chairs. RENT A CAMPER WITH SITE 1 or BRING YOUR PERSONAL CAMPER: Our retro style 2017 option on the other side of the creek with stairs and stones to cross the creek. 30 amp. 240 and 120 volt plugs. Click on additional fees for camper electrical hook up. Split wood is available for all 3 sites from a neighbor but is now left by the rick on the camp site. Just donate what you think is fair for the wood or grab any fallen dead wood from the forest for free. I suggest $5.00 for a 20" bundle. It's not wrapped in plastic wrapping that's bad for the environment anyway, so just guess. SITE TWO: Also along side the 30' creek. There is a round steel fire pit surrounded with wrought iron chairs, a separate picnic table, granite countertop work space and a small grill. 2 flat areas for tents. Set your chairs in the creek in front of your site. The clear cold water is a great place to relax and cool off or watch crawfish, minnows and salamanders and the occasional blue herron. 120V and string lights. SITE THREE: "Still Hollow" is more private and located right in the middle valley of the property where a different spring fed creek runs down the wooded valley. There is no electricity but you can still enjoy the sound of small cascading waterfalls and a creek that runs along the side of the site for a relaxing sleep. There is a granite countertop, charcoal grill and a fire ring. A small round wrought iron table and 4 chairs are there for a place to eat lunch. The old moonshine barrels are still barely standing by the spring. This site is also accessed from the opposite side of the campground on Ben Fly Rd or Greer Rd for the serious off roaders. 4 wheel drive may be necessary but a Hyundai car entered through the creek in 2 wheel drive. It was dry though. STAR GAZING for all 3 sites: There is a cleared area on top of a hill side for stargazing far from the city lights. CHECK IN: Check in can be as early as you like if the present campers have checked out. You can always hang out elsewhere on the property and start your day to explore and hike till they leave. Just let us know in advance. And you can stay all day the day of check out but you may have to pack up and park elsewhere if other campers need the spot. If not. Stay till dark. Located only 15 minutes from the historic downtown Columbia, TN and one-hour from Nashville. You can have the best of both worlds! Our herd of 11 friendly horses are free-roaming, and will likely come and visit you at your campsite. This is the only campsite on the property and you will have complete privacy. Book a trail ride to enjoy the scenery from the saddle (please check on availability for rides.) Come and help with the morning feeding routine at the barn! There's great cell service at the campsite. The tent is equipped with up to 4 cots maximum (additional guests must bring their own sleeping set-up.) Each cot has a memory foam mattress made up with fresh linens. There is no electricity at the campsite, but we have plenty of solar lighting and a nice big fire pit. There is also a small wood stove inside the tent for cold weather camping! Firewood is $15/bundle (for wood stove and/or campfire) or you can forage your own! The barn has an outdoor propane hot water shower. The shower may not be available during the extreme cold. There is a pit toilet at the campsite and always a roll of TP in the tent. There is a large charcoal grill/smoker at the site. Please clean grill after use. If you are bringing your furr babies please bring something for them to sleep on. Do not let pets sleep on comforters, sheets, or pillows. The road to the campsite goes through a very small creek and up a little hill. Very low vehicles may bottom out. In the rainy months, campers need 4-wheel drive to get out to the site. Some items you will want to bring: *Camp chairs *Flashlights (we have a few small camp lights in the tent) *Cooking equipment and water We live on the property and will be available to make sure your stay is comfortable and enjoyable. Also enjoy a walk on our private farm walking trails.Our family lives on the farm so let us know if you need anything during our stay.Our farm is located only 1.5 miles off the Tennessee Whiskey Trail, which offers great tourism opportunities at distilleries such as Jack Daniels in Lynchburg, George Dickel and Nearest Green. The historic town of Bell Buckle is only 6 miles from our farm and offers great shopping (lots of antiques), seasonal craft fairs/events and dining. And with so many water sources like Normandy Lake, Duck River, Tim's Ford Lake and the Elk River nearby, the day adventures- kayaking, swimming and fishing-are endless. These two sites are separated by the driveway and about 150' apart but a bridge connects the two if you have another couple that wants to join you these two spots are perfect for privacy and companionship. SITE ONE: The nicer of the two sites along the creek, has granite counters, a round fire pit with a fold down heavy cooking grate, charcoal grill and a large wrought iron table and chairs. RENT A CAMPER WITH SITE 1 or BRING YOUR PERSONAL CAMPER: Our retro style 2017 option on the other side of the creek with stairs and stones to cross the creek. 30 amp. 240 and 120 volt plugs. Click on additional fees for camper electrical hook up. Split wood is available for all 3 sites from a neighbor but is now left by the rick on the camp site. Just donate what you think is fair for the wood or grab any fallen dead wood from the forest for free. I suggest $5.00 for a 20" bundle. It's not wrapped in plastic wrapping that's bad for the environment anyway, so just guess. SITE TWO: Also along side the 30' creek. There is a round steel fire pit surrounded with wrought iron chairs, a separate picnic table, granite countertop work space and a small grill. 2 flat areas for tents. Set your chairs in the creek in front of your site. The clear cold water is a great place to relax and cool off or watch crawfish, minnows and salamanders and the occasional blue herron. 120V and string lights. SITE THREE: "Still Hollow" is more private and located right in the middle valley of the property where a different spring fed creek runs down the wooded valley. There is no electricity but you can still enjoy the sound of small cascading waterfalls and a creek that runs along the side of the site for a relaxing sleep. There is a granite countertop, charcoal grill and a fire ring. A small round wrought iron table and 4 chairs are there for a place to eat lunch. The old moonshine barrels are still barely standing by the spring. This site is also accessed from the opposite side of the campground on Ben Fly Rd or Greer Rd for the serious off roaders. 4 wheel drive may be necessary but a Hyundai car entered through the creek in 2 wheel drive. It was dry though. STAR GAZING for all 3 sites: There is a cleared area on top of a hill side for stargazing far from the city lights. CHECK IN: Check in can be as early as you like if the present campers have checked out. You can always hang out elsewhere on the property and start your day to explore and hike till they leave. Just let us know in advance. And you can stay all day the day of check out but you may have to pack up and park elsewhere if other campers need the spot. If not. Stay till dark. VEHICLE TYPE AND PARKING: In order to drive up into the campsite, you may need a 4x4 vehicle but definitely need ground clearance. Drive around the local dirt roads for miles and learn the history of Moon Shine Alley, drive through many creeks and see some beautiful views. There's great cell service at the campsite. The tent is equipped with up to 4 cots maximum (additional guests must bring their own sleeping set-up.) Each cot has a memory foam mattress made up with fresh linens. There is no electricity at the campsite, but we have plenty of solar lighting and a nice big fire pit. There is also a small wood stove inside the tent for cold weather camping! Firewood is $15/bundle (for wood stove and/or campfire) or you can forage your own! The barn has an outdoor propane hot water shower. The shower may not be available during the extreme cold. There is a pit toilet at the campsite and always a roll of TP in the tent. There is a large charcoal grill/smoker at the site. Please clean grill after use. If you are bringing your furr babies please bring something for them to sleep on. Do not let pets sleep on comforters, sheets, or pillows. The road to the campsite goes through a very small creek and up a little hill. Very low vehicles may bottom out. In the rainy months, campers need 4-wheel drive to get out to the site.
