I sleep a lot on the day bed in the living room so the Sawmill can be comfortably rented for up to 4 guests. The outhouse is a thing of the past, just recently I installed a compositing toilet besides the bedroom.We also offer The Summit which is a high elevation, 2-story cabin surrounded by national forest which has evolved into an off-grid living and play space located at nearly 3300 feet elevation on a 1/2 acre flat with an incredible view. There are very private old forest service trails leading directly into the Pisgah National Forest.

There are some good shops, restaurants & our favorite hardware store!! Downtown Marshall is also close, about 25 minutes and has a lot to offer! Gr8 restaurants, thrifting and cute shops along the river. Our property is about an hour away from the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the adorable city of Asheville - which makes for a fantastic day trip with delicious restaurants, breweries, cool shops, and more! The Great Smokey Mountains and Deep Creek are about 1.5 hours away from the campsite. The Appalachian Trail is closeby and there are countless opportunities for stunning hikes. There's also kayaking, tubing, white water rafting opportunities as well as zip lining and horseback riding. There is something for everyone to enjoy and we can't wait to share it with you! Full disclosure: We have a camera pointed at the entrance and one at the bath house door, which we can move around to make sure that when people check in they make it to the right spot since I manage remotely part of the year. We have regular yard maintenance, however, we are Country natural landscape, not parking lot type campground, so the grass is slightly higher in some small areas but truly those things are part of a sustainable and uniquely beautiful camping experience!

I sleep a lot on the day bed in the living room so the Sawmill can be comfortably rented for up to 4 guests. The outhouse is a thing of the past, just recently I installed a compositing toilet besides the bedroom.We also offer The Summit which is a high elevation, 2-story cabin surrounded by national forest which has evolved into an off-grid living and play space located at nearly 3300 feet elevation on a 1/2 acre flat with an incredible view. There are very private old forest service trails leading directly into the Pisgah National Forest.

There are some good shops, restaurants & our favorite hardware store!! Downtown Marshall is also close, about 25 minutes and has a lot to offer! Gr8 restaurants, thrifting and cute shops along the river. Our property is about an hour away from the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the adorable city of Asheville - which makes for a fantastic day trip with delicious restaurants, breweries, cool shops, and more! The Great Smokey Mountains and Deep Creek are about 1.5 hours away from the campsite. The Appalachian Trail is closeby and there are countless opportunities for stunning hikes. There's also kayaking, tubing, white water rafting opportunities as well as zip lining and horseback riding. There is something for everyone to enjoy and we can't wait to share it with you! Full disclosure: We have a camera pointed at the entrance and one at the bath house door, which we can move around to make sure that when people check in they make it to the right spot since I manage remotely part of the year. We have regular yard maintenance, however, we are Country natural landscape, not parking lot type campground, so the grass is slightly higher in some small areas but truly those things are part of a sustainable and uniquely beautiful camping experience!

There are also a number of other trailheads within 45 minutes of the farm to include Little Sam Knob Trailhead and the Art Loeb/Cold Mountain Trailhead off of Hwy 215 (for hikers) and Hard Times Trailhead in Asheville for bikers and hikers. Take a look around before you come for other outdoor possibilities in the area to enjoy. Learn more about this land: We live in Beaverdam Community just north of the town of Canton. Year 8 for campers at our Farm! We hope you find the peace and beauty we've had ever since we fell in love with this property in 2012. We have welcomed a number of people from across the US as well as from several other countries. We love to share our beautiful, organic farm with friends and family as well as strangers-to-friends through Hipcamp. Take a day, weekend, or week to enjoy time in our special space! Pitch your tent or set up your camper in the primary sites next to or near the creek. 360-degree views of the mountains with famous Cold Mountain and Mt Pisgah among the views to our South. There are two large fire pits for the chillier nights/mornings with a basic grate (only 1) to go over the fire for cooking. We can supply firewood, as needed, for a small fee. It's best that you request firewood when you book your site. We have access to clean water as well as flowing water in the creek. No portapotty at this time. Check out the pictures for other views. For hikers or mountain bikers: Chestnut Mountain Nature Park includes trails for both interests just 10-12 minutes away from the Farm. The Berm Park is part of this wonderful network of trails. There are also a number of other trailheads within 45 minutes of the farm to include Little Sam Knob Trailhead and the Art Loeb/Cold Mountain Trailhead off of Hwy 215 (for hikers) and Hard Times Trailhead in Asheville for bikers and hikers. The view is beautiful as everybody else said. There's also plenty of space and he was nice enough to leave behind a decent pack of logs for the campfire. There are a few things that some people might consider downsides that I didn't see listed in the reviews. Though it isn't busy, the campsite is pretty close to the road. Maybe 30ft or so. While I was there, one of the neighbors happened to be doing some construction well into the night and two neighbors have pretty persistent outside dogs. The owner (I'm guessing) showed up during one of the days to do some construction on a cabin he's building a little bit further down the hill (great spot for a cabin). Though he left around sundown. Again, beautiful site and I'm greatful to have spent the weekend there, just wanted to share some details.

I can’t say enough about how great this place is! The property is beautiful, and also secure. I felt safe being there. The different sites are far enough from one another that you don’t feel like you’re there with anyone or on top of each other. The yurt itself (I stayed in the Gnome) was clean and well kept, had every thing I could need or want. It was comfortable and felt very cozy on the chilly nights. Sitting on the deck for breakfast and dinner was perfect. The view is beyond words! Having utensils, propane heat, electricity for basics like charging electronics, and everything I need for cooking was perfect. Add on top of that the little additional things like games, towels, a little rechargeable and portable lamp, and cleaning supplies, this place was perfect! Even if I never left the property it was an amazing vacation with great hiking and a beautiful serene escape. My dogs both loved being able to explore off leash and I never felt like they were unsafe. I’m already planning my trip back next fall with my entire family!

We had such a great time visiting the summit cabin, and it was equipped with everything you would typically need on a camping trip! Hans was very nice and brought all of our things to the cabin, and we hiked the steep but beautiful trail up to the summit. We brought our two dogs that absolutely loved running around the property, and we even explored the trails in the woods behind the cabin and they were endless. We went on a chilly weekend, and were so surprised at how warm the gas units inside got to warm up the cabin! Such a beautiful cabin, and we cannot wait to come back again.

When we arrived, our campsite #3 wasn't available so we were upgraded to a larger, more private site #5. Water pressure and wifi were great. The little nature trail was a great walk for our dog. We could hear the road noise at night since we did not have our A/C running due to the chilly weather. When the heat did run, we heard nothing. If coming during the colder months, I would bring a white noise machine. Creekside is conveniently located to Asheville's attractions.

We had a wonderful time staying at John's campsite and thoroughly enjoyed the absolutely incredible views!! We have a 45ft Class A Motorhome pulling a 25ft flatbed trailer carrying our full-size Titan truck and had plenty of room. We were a little concerned upon reading some people's reviews about the drive to the campsite so we unhooked the trailer from the rv prior to driving up the mountain and pulled the trailer with the truck to which we had no problems at all getting to the campsite. The campsite has 50 amp hookup, water, sewer and excellent wifi. Did I mention the impeccable views 😀 We surely hope to stay here again the next time we travel to this area. Thank- you for sharing your beautiful piece of paradise John. PS: I miss that Rocky of yours, he is such well behaved, sweet handsome boy!

Absolutely stunning views. Mostly very quiet with some quaint country sounds like an occasional donkey or hound dog. Dead end road so almost no traffic. We had our 13 foot camper pulled by a mid sized truck so it took some maneuvering to get into place. The " exit" drive has deep ruts so its better to go in and out from the " entrance" drive.

The treehouses are quiet, secluded, and actually border GSMNP property and Cherokee National Forest land; the Appalachian Trail at Davenport Gap is ¾ mile away. Nearby GSMNP entrances: Big Creek is 2.5 mi, Cosby at 8 miles. Only 3 to the Pigeon River whitewater section, and accessible to hundreds of miles of mountain biking and hiking roads/trails. Each treehouse was built by hand by hosts (husband/wife team) Anthony and Brenna. A long history of camping and working in the outdoor recreation industry inspired a design to intentionally interact with nature. By utilizing rain collection, solar power generation, composting toiletries, outdoor cooking, each treehouse is completely off-grid. Rest from your adventures on the comfy, queen and full-sized beds. A spacious queen bottom bunk and lofted double mattress can accommodate four adult campers. All bed linens and pillows are provided. The treehouses offer private, indoor bathing and toilet facilities. Every treehouse is equipped with a propane-heated, rain-collection shower and maintenance-free, vented composting toilet. Plumtree Campground and Retreat is an off-the-beaten-path property for hikers, bikers (pedal and e-bike), campers, adventurers, parkway goers, mountain lovers, fisherman, and skiers/snowboarders.The property has a formerly used zip line recreation area. Relics remain, with zip lines and bridges still running through the tree canopy and an old climbing wall. These aren’t currently in use, and cannot be explored, but they add a wonderland-like quality to the land. Other features that can be used: a sliding rock waterfall which is a short hike within the campground property, moderate trails for hiking, and mountain biking running from the waterfall through the back of the property (these trails are mountainous, so please enter at your own risk), fruit trees, blueberry bushes, small trout pond, a playground, and an open meadow for star gazing.You are welcome to explore all these features, but please be mindful and respectful of residents and guests, do not enter or explore the greenhouses or gardens, and remain aware that this is mountainous terrain with inherent risks.This is a rustic property in the forest, centrally located to all the area has to offer. Our 300 acres has seen cattle and tobacco over the last century, and featured in the Christy book series in the early 1900's, before falling into neglect. Stories abound of moonshiners and cock fighters reveling in it's isolation. Purchased with a dream in 2004 we have slowly recovered the original fields, and developed our own trails, linking in and out of the Cherokee National Forest. From grassy lowland skirted by creeks to ridges of hardwood timber, our farm, now home to our artisanal herd of beef cattle, is an idyll away from the bustle. Visit the old graveyard, or try to find the old schoolhouse location. Bring your dogs and enjoy getting away from it all. Learn more about this land: Private campsite in secluded hardwood forest glade. Clear acre deep in the woods; room for many tents. Custom-built picnic table, fantastic fire circle. Ten minute drive to hot pizza, and 35 minute drive to town of Hot Springs - rent a hot tub, good local restaurants. Twenty minutes to nearest boat put-in on French Broad River.  One hour from Dollywood, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. We are excited to share our slice of paradise, and can help orientate any visitors with suggestions of trails to hike/bike/ride, and places to visit.
