Plumtree Campground and Retreat is an off-the-beaten-path property for hikers, bikers (pedal and e-bike), campers, adventurers, parkway goers, mountain lovers, fisherman, and skiers/snowboarders. The property has a formerly used zip line recreation area. Relics remain, with zip lines and bridges still running through the tree canopy and an old climbing wall. These aren’t currently in use, and cannot be explored, but they add a wonderland-like quality to the land. Other features that can be used: a sliding rock waterfall which is a short hike within the campground property, moderate trails for hiking, and mountain biking running from the waterfall through the back of the property (these trails are mountainous, so please enter at your own risk), fruit trees, blueberry bushes, small trout pond, a playground, and an open meadow for star gazing. You are welcome to explore all these features, but please be mindful and respectful of residents and guests, do not enter or explore the greenhouses or gardens, and remain aware that this is mountainous terrain with inherent risks. This is a rustic property in the forest, centrally located to all the area has to offer. Privately run, we offer a variety of lodging options.

A5 is a great full hook-up site for large units. An easy in and out, back-in site that features a nice, private fire pit at the rear of the site. The creek can be heard behind the site as well as the pond fountain across from it. This site is a 50/20 amp site, so bring a 50x30amp adapter if needed. The water connection is located at the front of the site, so a longer hose may be required.

Site D7 is a full hook-up, 50 amp site with a great mountain view. The Leyland cypress trees line the rear/side of the site and there ample room in front that is perfect for our furry guests. This is a pull-in site for larger units. Tow vehicle can be disconnected and driven out the front of the site, but the large units and trailers have to back out of the site to exit.

Buddy Sites

Our Buddy sites are well shaded and perfect for a group gathering. Rental of 1 site secured the rental of another. Additional sites can be rented based on the number of RVs or tents. Each nightly rental includes 2 sites for 2 units. The other 2 units will be blocked, but can be booked for additional units on a per unit per night basis. The empty units can be used for parking if needed. A1 is the best for the longest unit and should be the last unit to park. A2 is a nice secluded site, level side to side, but does drop off slightly to the rear. A3 is tucked into trees and is great for s shorter unit with small or no slides. A4 is a nice concrete pad that is perfect for a Class B or C or a smaller travel trailer. A4 is a 50/20 amp site, so bring a 50x30 adapter if needed.

D5 is a nice and wide, 30amp, full hook-up site that is easy in and out and backs up to our apple orchard. It is convenient to one of our small bathhouses and laundry facility and is a short walk up the hill to the playground. This site has a picnic table and fire ring with a nice mountain view.

Great location and very friendly owner. Campground very clean and well kept. Had a great pull through FHU site and it was very level. Water pressure was great and all three hookups were right together.

Situated in the NC foothills, this campground is its hidden treasure. The owners and camp managers are salt is the earth, offering a wholesome place full of apples, trout and all God’s creatures. Follow their directions as the detailed map will get you safely to this paradise.

Fantastic place to stay. Do they have a pool a water play station no. But we weren't looking for a campground with all that. We wanted a clean, quiet, well maintained with the most friendliest people you could ever meet. The trout pond was an added plus. Would I recommend this place to friends and family. Durn right I would without hesitation. We will be back.

My family and I absolutely loved this campground. All of the staff were incredibly kind, and very helpful. We were greeted at the road, and then guided in to our site which made things go much smoother than most places. The property is well maintained, and peaceful. We will definitely be visiting again soon.

Very cool spot! Peaceful and clean, the host was very kind and helpful. Has a little store selling local produce, offering free coffee in the morning. Would definitely come back again!

Getting in and out of the campground was a bit of a challenge. We ended dragging our rear bumper. Other wise a great quiet place to stay.
