This is just a little triangle of land on the edge of a small town with three full camper hookups. It is a convenient semiprivate location on your way to your destination. We are located “where the Badlands Begin” 20 minutes from the Badlands National Park. We are a tiny spot, 3 campers max, most likely just one possibly two campers, with a few trees, a couple pf picnic tables and a firepit.
Kadoka is a safe, quiet, small ranching community. There is a small grocery store on main st. It is open Mon thru Sat from 9 to 6. Main street is also home to the post office, a laundromat and a flower shop. The city bar with on and off sale options is also located on main street.
There is a subway and cafe ( the Sunset Grille) both located on the hwy 73 entrance to town.
Kadoka has a city park with a swimming pool, covered picnic area and children's playground . The pool is open weekdays June and July.
One last thing, Kadoka is a small town with volunteer fire and rescue teams. If there is a fire or car wreck, the siren will go off and continue until the volunteers arrive. It will stop, and you don’t need to do anything. It’s one of those things you get used to when you live here, but is a bit startling if you are not accustomed to it.

We very much enjoyed our conversations with our hosts, Francis and Doris!
We’re tent camping with a 2-wheel drive car, and were able to easily drive to the tent site. The instructions to the ranch are accurate and specific. There are beautiful views of the Niobrara River canyons, there is no traffic within miles, and the sky views are stunning, The cattle on the other side of the pasture fence kept us entertained. Overall, a great way to visit a working ranch, while learning more about the area.

We loved tent camping here! The badlands were literally our back yard and the entrance was less than 2 minutes away. We stayed for 3 nights and every staff person we met was kind and extremely helpful. Their facilities were always clean and water for the showers was always warm. We tent camp often and that isn't always the case everywhere we go so it was much appreciated. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

We had a great stay here. We just stopped for one night, but it was worth the drive. So quiet and peaceful. Francis was very friendly and was quick to take care of a small bee hive by the outhouse. Overall would recommend!

This site really is just the best in our opinion. The hosts are so friendly and communicate well. We were driving back home, passing through, my husband and I couldn’t think of any other place we wanted to stay. Maybe just too lazy to look knowing this was an option but felt like a no brainer to return. The view is spectacular. You’re off the road and we feel safe at this campsite. We are really hoping Dale & Lisa keep this site going for the trip we’re planning next yr.

No questions about it, would love to come back and have already shared the campsite with two of my camping buddies in case they ever journey out here. Hosts were very friendly. The views were breath taking. The smell of fresh sage was heavenly. Site 8 was nicely leveled for our travel trailer to back into which made for easy sleeping and the electrical hook ups were great for convenience. There was a cool like patio/picnic that was shaded we could have utilized and I really liked that. There weren’t any other campers when we stayed and the quiet was peaceful. We woke up early (on our own accord) to the most beautiful sky.
