Property description Our property is nestled between Hwy 385, the Mickelson Trail, and the National Forest. We are located between Custer State Park and Wind Cave National Park along Hwy 385 and the Mickelson Trail; about 30 minutes from Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse Mountain. The nearest towns with restaurants are Pringle, (2 miles S); Hot Springs, (24 miles S), Custer, (9.5 miles N).; Hill City, (24 miles N), and Rapid City, (50 miles N). The blacktop driveway grants easy access for every type of vehicle. A couple of ponds, creeks, and dispersed willow, pine, and aspen trees enhance the diversity and beauty of the landscape. It is peaceful here and we enjoy sharing it with our guests during the spring, summer, and fall seasons. Plenty Star Ranch Retreat has our home, a big pole barn (RV storage), a garage/wood workshop with an attached restroom for all guests, a regular hot water shower cabin, 2 small home-built camping log cabins, 7 RV sites, 9 clearly marked tent and car-camping sites, and several water hydrants fed by our well, providing great quality drinking water. 2 pets maximum per campsite, no pets allowed when booking a cabin. Check-In is 2 pm to 9 pm; Check-Out is 10 am for the cabins and 11 am for all other sites.

We decided to build the vacation site that we always wanted, but could never find. We have 50/30/15 amp FHU's (despite what HipCamp says). We have two large, level RV spots with 50 feet between the two sites. We have created an environment for our guests to enjoy peaceful relaxation while staying with us. We offer amazing sunsets, sunrises, wild turkey, song birds, deer and amazing Black Hills landscapes to help you enjoy your stay in this beautiful area. We have 4 beautiful horses that adorn our landscape. We hope you enjoy watching them, but please don't feed them. We also have hiking trails and a community bonfire available for our guests to use. Well-behaved pets are welcome! We offer weekly and monthly rates.

This Campground is fantastic. The tent area was away from the Camper area which provided a quiet, peaceful experience! The bathroom/shower house was very clean and accessible. The front desk employees were extremely friendly and helpful. The delivery of wood and ice is a bonus for everyone! Highly recommend!

My friend Ben and I were riding / bike camping along the George Mickleson gravel trail from Edgemont SD to Deadwood SD. We chose Plenty Star ranch due to nearest camp/cabins northbound deadwood SD. Off season it was not busy, the Point of Contact Isa was nice. Shower and restroom clean! WiFi! At camp wow!

This is the first of two extensions at this HipCamp. It’s AMAZING and exactly our cup of tea. Lynn and her husband are wonderful human beings who love where they live and love hosting visitors - it shows in everything they have done to welcome guests at Rustic Rendezvous. This place is perfect for us because we want something that we can have all to ourselves and not have to see other travelers/campers or guests. We also want something away from busy main streets, freeways and towns. And we also want at least a toilet, and anything else after that is an added bonus.

Easy to find. Great directions. Exactly as pictured and described. A quaint spot on picturesque land. The cement pad is perfect for parking our adventure bikes. The dirt road off the highway isn’t difficult or long. BE CAUTIOUS WHEN DRIVING - lots of deer live in these parts and we saw so many cute fawns that still had their spots. The flush toilet, sink, shower, table, chairs, electricity, potable water, microwave, wildlife (lots of deer, turkeys and other birds), and good distance from major freeways and off the beaten path made this the perfect base camp to visit all the local South Dakota attractions and not have to worry about where we would sleep after a day on the motorcycles. There’s a perfectly flat spot for our 2-person tent and every night we fall asleep listening to the wonderful sounds of nature (owls, crickets, coyotes, and this time of year the bull elk are bugling - absolutely magical). We loved this place so much, we booked it for two more nights on top of our original reservation. Thank you L & R!!!

We had a great stay! The staff and owners were friendly and hospitable, the site was spacious and clean, the whole campground was whisper quiet after dark, the bathrooms were clean, the kids loved gathering the pine cones, and the dish washing area was a very pleasant bonus. We would definitely stay again!

Big Pine Campground is phenomenal! Super friendly and helpful staff, amazing tent sites that feel like you are truly in a pine forest…with the conveniences of hot showers and toilets near by, a win-win! My husband and I enjoyed our time here, the town of Custer is just a mile down the road with lots of restaurants, coffee shops, and attractions nearby. Would highly recommend this property!
