The beauty of Custer State Park and the infamous Needles Highway can be very busy for campers, which is why many of our guests choose to stay with us at Beaver Lake Campground. Our central location and peaceful setting will put you very close to all of the amazing things to see and do in the Black Hills (Paha Sapa in the Lakota language) of South Dakota. We are open from April 1 to November 1. Pool is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The water slide closed. Wonderful News! As of 6/4/22, we have a brand new park-wide Wi-Fi system. Guests dependent on WI-Fi for work will need their own system. Our rural infrastructure isn’t equivalent to big-city Wi-Fi. The Black Hills area is spectacular with so many things to do and see. You could spend a month here and still not see it all. The summer weather is perfect with warm but not hot days and cool summer nights due to the 5,300-foot elevation. Perfect for evening campfires. Living and working in the Black Hills National Forest is incredible. They feel very happy to be in such calm, peaceful surroundings. Julian and Kachina have accomplished many updates, and improvements in the time they have been here. Everything from not-so-exciting infrastructure, well pumps, electrical upgrades, painting, swimming pool pump, etc., and have attempted to give this beautiful campground a more inviting atmosphere, comfortable seating on the office patio, beautiful flowers, unique pinecone art, upgrades to the cabins, mini-fridges in all cabins, new mattresses, electrical improvements and more. The Starr’s 25-year experience in the RV business in Gold Beach, Oregon, and Durango Colorado has given them lots of warm memories and some funny stories too. Weekend Trip to Bear Den Cabins & Camp

Tammy's place was everything we wanted - its cozy, remote but in the heart of so much beauty. We got in at sunset and were able to take our dog on a night stroll up her hill for a very peaceful evening. The heat in our cabin was NICE and made it extra cozy. The bathroom / shower set up was top notch - sooo clean! 10/10 recommend this place! + Tammy is such a friendly, kind, good human!

Hillview Lodge was a cozy dream home away from home. I wish I had time to stay more than one night, but I do plan on returning in the future. I didn’t use the shower, but the bathroom house in general was clean and just a minute walk away from Hillview. I used the firepit at night too, ate some s’mores that were provided + had coffee in the morning before departure from provided Keurig coffee station. Would definitely recommend to any camping fantasy loving nerd!

We loved staying at Bear Den! Tammy and Tim are the most welcoming hosts — we immediately felt like a part of their family! As our 5-year-old told us when they went back to their house after greeting us… “They’re so nice, I wish they didn’t have to go.” :) The cabin was cozy and perfect for our family of four. We were extra impressed by the cleanliness of the facilities, and amenities we didn’t expect. Our kids loved exploring the property, seeing the stars at night, and waking up to watch the deer right outside the cabin. The location was great, and pretty central for all the things we wanted to do. Our whole family hopes to visit again, and we will tell all our friends to make a trip to the Black Hills to stay with Tammy and Tim!

We had the most amazing time at Lil Bear! Tammy and Tim are so kind and made us feel so at home! Our cabin was stocked with little snacks, was so cozy, had heat, coffee machine and it was just the best! Would absolutely recommend for a weekend getaway!

Weekend Trip to Uncle B's Produce Farm

Had a wonderful overnight stay on the hippie bus. We were welcomed to the campground in the warmest way, equipped with hippie gear (peace necklaces & rose colored lenses) s'mores kit and campfire wood. The campground had very nice bathroom/shower and kitchen areas. Highly recommend Uncle B's for a relaxing camping experience.

We stayed in the Covered Wagon. It was super cute! Cheap and the camp hosts were great! The showers were clean and hot, and the Wagon was comfortable with plenty or space for two people. Would defiantly recommended! Make sure you bring sleeping pads or an air mattress, they isn’t one in the wagon.

We loved staying at the Bear Den cabins! Tammy gave us clear instructions to where/how to find it and was very communicative and friendly! 😊 The location is quiet and secluded, other than the sound of the neighbors clucking chickens (which I loved!), and the passing turkey and deer through the property. We had our two dogs, which I reached out in advance about having multiple dogs and she was very accommodating. We’d love to be back!

We had an amazing time staying in shady bear! Tammy was so kind and welcoming and has truly thought of everything. The bathrooms/showers were immaculate, there were plenty of ammenities, and the property was beautiful. We will absolutely stay here again if we're in th area!

1 night at Uncle B's Produce Farm

Uncle B’s Farm was the perfect stop on our cross country road trip! It was a fun, comfortable, and relaxing stay after a long drive from Chicago. We experienced an amazing South Dakota sunset and sunrise over the vast landscapes. The hippie bus was very clean and equipped with everything we might need, including citronella candles for when it got buggy outside, fans, lights, and of course fun music! Brian welcomed us with delicious fresh eggs and vegetables which we used to meal prep burritos and breakfast in the morning. He was also very responsive, giving us recommendations for our road trip and even giving us some ice packs to use for our cooler. You can tell he really cares about giving his guests the best experience! Overall it was a fun and unique glamping experience, even for my boyfriend who is resistant to camping.

1 night at Uncle B's Produce Farm

Where do we begin?! The host went above and beyond! You are not going to get better service from anyone more than Uncle B himself. He welcomed us with kindness, gifts of s'mores, firewood, hippy sunglasses and necklaces, hot wheels for our little boy, bracelet kits for our little girls, a word search book, and a Swiss Army knife for our teenage son. The gifts were so perfect and beyond generous! Uncle B was outgoing, friendly, thorough with explanations and just made us feel very welcomed! It rained right before our arrival, so everything was muddy, and we didn’t get to take full advantage. But, the opportunities for enjoyment and relaxation were endless. We enjoyed walking the little trails to find “landmarks” and loved the peacocks and turkeys. My husband especially appreciated the shower after two days without a real shower at other hipcamps! The game room looked like a lot of fun and the playground was quaint as well. Just seeing those things made my kids happy. The bus itself was really well decorated. We loved all the lights and the continuous (optional) 70s music was neat! Our oldest daughter said she felt like she was sleeping at home because the bed was so comfortable! We all loved Uncle Bs and truly appreciate all of his hospitality! He’s created a special place out here and he was very good to us! CAMP HERE IF YOU CAN!

Tammy had such a cool separate of several tents with their own privacy that were so cozy and warm. The bath house was awesome and she has a place to do your dishes and free bags of ice which was great! Would highly recommend!
