If you are here for the beach, the closest beach and also our favorite is Cherry Grove Beach, only a 30 minute drive. There are a few kayak rental companies we can connect you to if you'd like and we know all the local spots for adventure, food and shopping. 3.5 acre property, last remaining part of old inlet horse farm, with plenty of natural buffers from the few neighbors in our vicinity and between our camp sites, as well as the road. So close to everything the inlet area has to offer. Beaches, tidal inlet with boat ramps, Waccamaw River with boat ramps, restaurants, shops, bars, State Parks, nature preserves, fun attractions and much, much more, all just moments away. We are set up as a “primitive” camping experience, the property is kept very natural, unmanicured for the most part, little to no herbicides or insecticides used here. It’s a work in progress, is difficult for me to tackle chores due to physical disabilities, so some private areas are disorganized at this time. I live here full time, with two cats & 5 chickens whom are all free range.
I live here in a double wide by myself, two outdoor cats. Deer, fox, rabbits, hawks and the like are common visitors. This is brand new to me, lots of improvements to be made in the future to make a guests stay even better, so for right now it’s bare bones. Can accommodate tents or certain campers. No pump out, no electricity or running water for “sites” yet, if ever, but running water is here and available for free.
Additions to come soon: outdoor shower, available compost toilet available for rent while here, fresh herbs, vegetables, fresh local eggs, firewood, and covered gathering/ cooking area (not built yet) and much more, I’m really excited. Open to idea’s and options. No fireworks/ gunfire allowed at anytime, no “parties”, but gatherings, campfires, games and fun always welcome.
I prefer meeting guests apon arrival to answer any questions and help all feel comfortable. I do have medical conditions that may prohibit it at times though.

This property is unimproved and unmaintained raw natural land. The entire property is surrounded by a farm drainage ditch on all sides, with random farm drainage ditches to insure the land is dry and a 60’ x 60’ old farm irrigation pond (see satellite photo to know where the ditches are located). There is plenty of seasoned raw wood (from when the property was cleared 4 years ago) laying randomly throughout the property to cut and collect for a camp fire. The land is located off a dirt access road that is well maintained by the county. The county dirt road can provide for hours of peaceful riding via mountain bikes. Campers are more than welcome to cut their own path on the land for their campsite. There is a fire pit by the large tree when first entering the property at Entrance 2 (please see photos for the locations of Entrance 1 and 2). Note: This raw land is unmaintained and was last cleared 4 years ago, photos are from April 2022. There is a video tour posted on youtube of the property, which can be navigated to via our twitter site link that is shared here as our website address. Please note as of 2025, we have 2 parking areas roped off with yellow rope, one parking area is 20’ x 50’ with crushed aggregate the other parking area is 20’ x 45’. This area is camping in the raw, a designated resting spot for a Camper Van, it is not for an amateur as clearing brush may be necessary and is priced accordingly no frills. Campers will likely will be greeted by friendly neighbors now as opposed to long ago. We understand the previous problem left. :-)

I really enjoyed my stay here. Scott is a wonderful host. The site was easy to get into, very well taken care of, and private. The location is central & convenient to everything nearby. It is truly a haven for camping in an area that has otherwise been gentrified & built up. Thank you for the hospitality, Scott! Looking forward to another stay.

1st time camping here and it was wonderful. Staff is extremely attentive and nice. Very laid back and unstressful which is really what your looking for on a weekend getaway to recharge from the day to day. The glamping tent we booked was extremely clean and comfortable overlooking the river making it very tranquil. If you bring children, the site has a myriad of events and activities to keep them busy and having fun. The whole facility is extremely well kept and a lot of thought and effort was put in to create the appropriate holiday theme of the season (we were there late Oct and it looked fabulous). We are definitely going to book another stay there especially with all the warm weather activities they have like kayaking and tubing. We might consider one of thier more excluded camping sites that they offer. Very much recommend checking it out whether old or young.

We loved camping at scott’s spot!!
he was extremely considerate from the moment we pulled in, he even had treats and a ball ready for our pups
the spot is tucked behind on his land and could adjust to small/big families and had everything we needed for tent camping (plus more) and he even surprised us with eggs from his chicken to cook for breakfast.
the area is both away from the hustle and bustle but also close enough to the beach and food.
overall, super generous man who we can tell loves company, we could have sat and talked to him for hours but unfortunately we were short on time, thanks for everything you did for us, scott!!

Scott was great! The farm was easy to find and the tent area was cozy. It was a beautiful spot right on the river with multiple options for making a fire (fire ring and old fireplace). Scott came to check on me as I was packing up after my stay to make sure everything went well.

Fern Getaway was the perfect spot for us! We are beginner campers and it was really nice to have amenities available to make the experience a little more comfortable. The shower, compost toilet, and grilling station were a gamechanger.
Definitely would recommend staying here! Bring food to cook and s'mores for campfire. The shower is cool / lukewarm but it felt great after spending the day in the sun! It's only a 30-35 min drive to Cherry Grove Beach

Weekend Trip to Laurel Oaks Estate
We stayed at little bear and had a fantastic time! The bed was very comfortable and the tent had everything you could need to cook, eat, and even had an AC unit! Very helpful in the July heat. We paddled around on the pond and enjoyed making s'mores on the campfire. Krystl met with us and allowed us to pet and feed the horses which were beautiful. Overall an amazing glamping experience. Would definitely recommend!

Very nice people who were generous enough to let us stay in the space. The outhouse and outdoor shower were awesome. You can really see how much work was put into creating this little piece of paradise in the woods. Close enough to the beach and other activities. It felt very private. 2 nights at Isla Mas Afuera
Scott was very hospitable, despite us checking in very late due to bad weather on the road he was there to greet us and show us the spot.
He kindly offered for BBQ, and even surprised us with some fresh watermelon.
The campsite is very close to town, Walmart, gas stations, the beach, though being in a secluded spot.
**Make sure to bring mosquito repellent.
