If you are here for the beach, the closest beach and also our favorite is Cherry Grove Beach, only a 30 minute drive. There are a few kayak rental companies we can connect you to if you'd like and we know all the local spots for adventure, food and shopping. Pick a hammock and relax listening to the birds, we also have an outdoor kitchen to prepare food and community firepits to gather around. We want this to be a relaxing getaway, to connect with yourself, others and nature.

The entire property is surrounded by a farm drainage ditch on all sides, with random farm drainage ditches to insure the land is dry and a 60’ x 60’ old farm irrigation pond (see satellite photo to know where the ditches are located). There is plenty of seasoned raw wood (from when the property was cleared 4 years ago) laying randomly throughout the property to cut and collect for a camp fire. The land is located off a dirt access road that is well maintained by the county. The county dirt road can provide for hours of peaceful riding via mountain bikes. Campers are more then welcome to cut their own path on the land for their campsite. There is a fire pit by the large tree when first entering the property at Entrance 2 (please see photos for the locations of Entrance 1 and 2). Note: This raw land is unmaintained and was last cleared 4 years ago, photos are from April 2022. Fern Getaway was the perfect spot for us! We are beginner campers and it was really nice to have amenities available to make the experience a little more comfortable. The shower, compost toilet, and grilling station were a gamechanger. Definitely would recommend staying here! Bring food to cook and s'mores for campfire. The shower is cool / lukewarm but it felt great after spending the day in the sun! It's only a 30-35 min drive to Cherry Grove Beach

Weekend Trip to Laurel Oaks Estate

We stayed at little bear and had a fantastic time! The bed was very comfortable and the tent had everything you could need to cook, eat, and even had an AC unit! Very helpful in the July heat. We paddled around on the pond and enjoyed making s'mores on the campfire. Krystl met with us and allowed us to pet and feed the horses which were beautiful. Overall an amazing glamping experience. Would definitely recommend!

You can really see how much work was put into creating this little piece of paradise in the woods. Close enough to the beach and other activities. It felt very private. This is the second time we have camped at Thompson Farm. They can accommodate our 37 foot A class with no issues. Great country setting with cows and buffalo out in the pasture and a creek running beside the parking area. We were able to hook into electric, a plus. We would highly recommend!

We loved this little spot! It was tucked far enough back in the woods that it felt private, but close enough to the common area that we were able to make use of the sinks and just a short walk to the bathroom/shower. As a bonus, the owners allowed us to visit their animals and at night, the fireflies light up the forest around you, its absolutely beautiful.

Weekend Trip to Laurel Oaks Estate

We loved staying in the Little Bear! The amenities this space has to offer are endless - lovely outdoor shower with provided towels, covered porch, fire pit and chairs, very clean portapotty, farm fresh eggs (that were delicious!), a grill and all the kitchen wear needed to cook, a mini fridge, flashlights if you’ve forgotten yours, extra blankets, a space heater/cooling unit, indoor and outdoor games, and usb ports connected to the bed for electronics charging. Each site is spaced out enough that you only see people when they are driving to/from their site. It feels very secluded and private. The nature is beautiful; with the pond, trails, and all of the animal sounds! The estate is close enough to the beach that we were able to spend the day at Litchfield Beach and stop at Broadway on the Beach on the way back. We loved it and hope to bring our friends to Laurel Oak’s Estate for a group trip soon!

I had the absolute amazing time camping at the Fern! This was everything and more than I thought it would be. My campsite felt private, spacious, and refreshing. I loved having the outdoor shower, and felt most refreshed and relaxed after my camping adventure. The host greeted me and was super helpful. I got to meet the new goats and milk cow! What a fun place to just kick back and relax. I felt safe and enjoyed everything. I am a happy camper.
