FREE FIREWOOD FOR LIMITED TIME: I have more split oak firewood than I know what to do with. While it lasts, campers can take as much as they need for free. The wood is piled at the site. Our homestead is home to our family, chickens, and a livestock guardian dog. We also have a small orchard and a garden. Most of our 12+ acres are wooded and our property backs up to thousands of acres of public forest land owned by Clemson University. A trail connects our backyard to the main network of hiking/mountain biking trails in Clemson Forest. For those familiar with the forest, our property is in the vicinity of Wildcat Technical, Wounded Road, and Chainbreaker trails. As private and wooded as our property is, we are only 10-15 minutes from downtown Clemson and less than 10 minutes from the small towns of Central and Six Mile. Lakes Hartwell and Keowee are also short drives. We currently offer a single campsite, which can accommodate several tents or a camper van. Our campsite features a composting toilet outhouse, and water is available from spigots at our house. Though fairly close to our house, the campsite has a very private feel due to being completely surrounded by a hardwood forest.

Our 400 acre family cow and pine tree farm most of which was purchased 60 years ago by my father and mother. My two siblings and me were raised here and later bought joining land that now makes up the 400 acres. We all still live on the farm with our families 1.4 mile down a dirt and gravel road. Our Hidden Creek is a short fun hike to cool your tired feet. Wide hiking paths all the way around our property if you would like a long hike. Local peach/strawberry farm (McLeod farm) with produce/gift shop/free museum/restaurant called (Big's), they have pick your own strawberries in the spring and early summer. In nearby Hartsville and Cheraw there are several golf courses and places for Kayak rentals. Neptune Island waterpark in Hartsville.   We have a hidden Creek that is fun to hike to by way of a trail. Small pond for fishing, plenty of room for hiking and bike riding ( grassy, sandy, rolling hills). Beautiful hills to camp on and watch an unobstructed view of the Carolina sunset and sunrise that peak through wooded acreage. Choose a tent camp location or pull/drive your RV/camper right near our cow pasture and watch the cows graze. Fresh drinking water at campsites. Bathroom and heated shower. Pick wild blackberries in early summer and wild grapes in late summer early fall, and we may share some of our home made jellies with you. We welcome family groups year round. At night enjoy the sounds of wildlife while watching the highly visible twinkling stars and tracing the many constellations and if lucky see a shooting star or two.

Weekend Trip to Riverbend Camp Retreat

This was the best boondock camping spots I’ve stayed at thus far. The campsite sat right along the river, giving it a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere from the moment we arrived. Waking up to the sound of the water and being able to sit outside with the river just a few steps away made the experience feel private and scenic. The area was quiet, open, and perfect for relaxing, cooking outside, fishing, or just enjoying nature without the crowds of a regular campground. Since it was boondocking, there were no major hookups or extra amenities, but that added to the peaceful off-grid feel. It was a great place to disconnect, enjoy the outdoors, and take in the view especially with the deer roaming around. The host was very nice, responsive and very catering to my questions. I really liked that. Overall, this riverfront boondock camping spot was simple, beautiful, and exactly what camping should feel like. It’s on the top of my list and I’ll definitely be booking it soon AGAIN!

This is the second time going to Camp Clatworthy and it was just as serene as last time. Plenty of firewood on hand, a clean primitive site, and one heck of a view. Though I wasn't as successful as last time, Lake Legion is a perfect spot to bass fish. I recommend bringing a kayak or canoe and go explore it.

Second time staying at Camp Site #2. It’s become our favorite place to be with our family of 4. We love the privacy of the site, the level space for our large tent, the river that’s a perfect mix of stones and sand, and the closeness of having the bathroom/shower building. It fits the bill for our family! Craig is always so responsive so that adds peace of mind should anything come up. We always use a sound machine to sleep so if there was any road noise, we aren’t bothered at all. Can’t wait to go back again!

Aleah and Mark were friendly, kind, and made our hipcamp experience even better. Aleah gave us great recommendations for both Greenville and Travelers Rest. The site was secluded and clean. It had a fire place, and was a 2-3min walk from where our car was parked. The canopy of trees around our visit was beautiful, the creek was nice- we found tiny fish and frogs. We initially booked 1 night and decided to stay another.

The camp was large and very private. The tent site had room for a large tent. The outhouse was clean and very usable. There is. access to the trails directly from the camp. The surrounding background noise is very low, but if you are sensitive, a battery operated fan would probably cover the sound.(I always wonder about the noise level). This is one of the best campsites ever.

A peaceful spot—I didn't explore the surrounding area, so I can't really comment on that. It's a nice, quiet place with proper toilets and a shower available. There is also a small shop on the farm selling their own products. I recommend the bread and eggs.

Very private camping area which is exactly what I am looking for. Plenty of wood for the campfire which makes me want to return since that has been a problem at other places. Just have to be aware of the slight incline at the campsite which makes it interesting while trying to sleep but that is not a deterrent for me.

This camp site was fantastic! It’s a little bit of a hike back into the woods, but not terribly far. They provided a wheelbarrow for us to cart our stuff back and we had three large tents and a galley kitchen all set up in no time. The creek is so peaceful. The fire pit is great. Even though it’s accessed through a neighborhood, we felt like we were in the middle of nowhere. Incredibly peaceful. 10 out of 10 would camp again!

We loved staying here. It was such a fun and unique experience. We had our morning coffee while walking in the pasture, and we got to see cows and sheep grazing in the field in the evening. The marsh views were beautiful, and we loved looking at the stars at night. The donkeys came and said good morning the first day we were there. It was very clean and well kept, and it was great to watch the kids run around and play. We had no issues and left with great memories! Very generous amount of firewood. Called Linda to ask a couple of questions and she was super nice and helpful. Thank you for a great experience. We will definitely come back!
