With the original home built in 1785, Milk Thistle farm is on the historic register and is comprised of the main house and 5 acres of land. It is run as a small non-profit animal sanctuary and is home to rescued chickens, goats, and pigs, as well as two humans and their dog and cat companions. The main property is fenced in, with a large back field great for tent camping, and an orchard to explore that can also double as hammock camping. There is parking for cars and bikes. We try to minimize our impact on the environment as much as possible, and encourage our guests to compost, recycle, and dispose of waste accordingly. Please note we have dogs, including a Livestock Guardian Dog that does bark to alert us of new people and warn off would be predators. We ended up getting stuck up north this winter and needed a place to stay in the RV. This ended up being a great safe spot to do so and on the good winter days we were able to visit the nearby beaches, especially Horseneck which is our favorite. We always felt safe and had enough privacy to be on our own. We were able to hook up our 30 amp plug to the side of the garage.
Winter 2026 was a rough one which saw two major snowstorms. Our vehicle always felt well protected.
Our host Tristan was always available when we needed to reach out via the Hipcamp app.
I can only imagine how nice this must be during the warm months. If you do stay, you’ll be able to visit many different beaches on a regular basis as there are so many close to the spot.
Tiverton is safe, clean and nice.

A must for anyone exploring RI! Jim and Amy’s good communication and courtesy went above and beyond.
Wide pull in on hard asphalt, for my 20 ft campervan in a very quiet low traffic neighborhood. The section is adjacent to having your stay run south or north, with easy navigation to the highways and away from the more stacked up touristy area.
The Firepit is well maintained, dry wood available and lovely! With grill, gravel surround and patio chair seating, it definitely is many levels above primitive. Easy power hook up. If you have bikes with you, the island is yours to explore!

We had such a wonderful stay at this campsite! The host was incredibly accommodating and always quick to respond! She was amazing! It made the whole experience feel easy and welcoming from start to finish. We brought our two kids and our German Shepherd!
The campsite was peaceful, clean, and thoughtfully set up. It was also great because it was super close to stores and restaurants as well. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we would happily come back again. Highly highly recommend for families and dog owners! 🏕️🐾✨

KSJoy’s property was as described and a nice spot to hang out for a couple of days before the busy holiday season kicks in. Full electric hookup. No water this time of year (was just shut off last week). Nice area. Drove around. Followed the host’s recommendations for local food. Great advice! Had our four dogs with us. The property is close to a fairly busy road so having good recall (or we brought a fencing system) is essential. The road noise Fri-Sun in mid Nov. was not an issue. The host was very communicative and answered all questions but was hands off which we liked. Highly recommend.

Victoria has created a wonderful space. It is private and lovely, and I enjoyed staying there with my dogs with no other people around. Victoria gave great directions, and met me to give instructions yet didn't interfere with privacy, which is what I consider important in a hipcamp site. Weekend Trip to Camp Newportant
Jim and Amy’s spot might not be the traditional Hipcamp setting (it’s in their driveway) but it’s the perfect place to explore Newport if you’re in an RV. Just park and you’re a short walk to downtown and the water with easy access to drive the famous Ocean Drive. And as hosts, you won’t find any better. Experts on the area/history and always willing to assist with anything you need…and don’t miss out on the campfire experience in the backyard—it’s a great hang!

Easily accessible on rte. 77! Some traffic noise but dies down by evening. Loved the little hike to the Pond with kayak/canoe available to spend some time on the water. Perfect if you live around hartford and want a quick getaway spot. Very acominating. Private but not far from food, beaches, and shopping. We got there when it was dark out so it was helpful that all we needed to do was set up the tent, they had everything else you could need there.

Where to go
Lincoln Woods State Park
Put Rhode Island’s first state park first on your list of attractions. Not far from Pawtucket, this all-encompassing park lets campers design their own vacation, never far from the views—and beaches—of Olney Pond. Trails abound throughout the park, though how to traverse them is a decision best left to you. Horseback, mountain bikes, and good ol’ hiking boots all do the trick.
Along the Bays
Before you reach the Atlantic, a series of bays bookend eastern Rhode Island. As New England’s largest estuary, Narragansett Bay offers campers access to beaches and trailheads galore. To camp all the closer to the water, take the ferry from Bristol to Prudence Island. Meanwhile, further north, campsites near Goddard Memorial State Park get campers up close and personal with Greenwich Bay.
Down South
No visit to a coastal town is complete with a stop on the coast. Camp along Rhode Island’s southern end, where log cabins and RV campsites pepper the shoreline. Make s’mores around a fire pit at Fishermen’s Memorial State Park before biking to Point Judith Lighthouse. Or, head to Burlingame State Park, where campsites come with tree coverage and views of Watchaug Pond.
