The 66-acre property has been licensed as an airport (PS20) since the 1980s. It is currently an active, private airport. We don't sell fuel or offer services beyond camping so we primarily have only air traffic with few to no landings each year. In other words, it is very quiet here except during the occasional low pass. We are very eager for pilots to fly in and camp out! The beautiful sunsets and stargazing night skies are a real treat for anyone that comes to visit. Lots of deer, birds, and other wildlife can be seen out and about. Bring your telescope and binoculars to view all the property has to offer! Note that we are always working to improve our slice of heaven, thus we do have tools, vehicles, and equipment stored around the farm that if not used now will be one day. Elmlock was named by MJ's Grandfather for the majestic Elm trees that once graced the property and banks of the Tulpehocken Stream passing through the Union Canal lock. These beautiful trees were devastated by the Dutch Elm Disease in the early 20th century. Elmlock and the surrounding area was surveyed by non other than George Washington as plans were formulating to build a canal system to join the Schuylkill and Susquehanna Rivers. The General stayed with his friend Captain Michael Lei on the adjacent farm, once known as the Tulpehocken Manor when visiting the area. The ruins of one of the canal locks remains on the Elmlock property adjacent to the camping area. The 1838 stone farmhouse was built by the Spengler family and acquired by MJ's Grandfather in 1913. Our girls camping trip to Camp Dietrich this weekend was amazing. Scott met us upon arrival and gave us a full rundown of the campground! The checkpoint shed had everything we needed, wood was ready to buy, and the Coleman stove made cooking every meal so easy. The creek beside our campsite was absolutely magical, and yes, I even took a cold plunge. The tent was super spacious, comfy bunk beds, and the heater kept us warm all night. We hiked to the waterfalls on-site, which were unreal. Already counting down to bringing the kids this summer. Highly recommend, 10/10.

Our time in the treehouse was magical. It was my 13 year old son and I. He is 6’1” and he was able to comfortably sleep in the loft. Bill and everyone at Fairview Farms was welcoming, friendly and helpful. The stargazing was phenomenal; I highly recommend a dip in the hot tub under the stars. I would recommend bringing a heated blanket in the colder months. I brought ours and it was the perfect mix of cold and snuggly warm. There is a heater that works like a charm, with the blanket we only used it during the day.

My boyfriend, dog, and I stayed for two nights at “a creek runs through it” and had a wonderful time. Scott was incredibly friendly and helpful. If you forgot to pack something, there’s a good chance you can borrow it from the check point shed. The site itself was gorgeous and very private. You really can “be one with nature” here. I look forward to visiting again once it warms up, to fully take advantage of the creek and some swimming. Highly recommend this place. Thank you to the Dietrich’s for a wonderful experience!

3 nights at Camp Dietrich on Bear Creek

Amazing hosts and location. The campsite was clean and ready for us when we arrived, the place is very well maintained. The tent was dry and held heat well- although there's a propane heater, we didn't need it despite the temps being in the 40s at night. It rained a lot the first night but the tent remained dry thanks to the additional covering over the tent area. The foam mattresses were extremely comfortable. I live with chronic back pain and slept very well. The bedding was clean and plenty warm enough (sheets, comforter, extra large fleece blanket). There is a camping lamp provided for the tent, covered area, and bathroom. There are 4 camping chairs beneath each bed in the tent and some extra in the supply shed. I read reviews that said you really only need to bring your clothes and food...that's pretty much right. The supply shed has just about everything else you need. The place was so serene, we didn't see or hear anyone else, only the sound of the moving water. The hosts were amazing and even provided us with additional items we forgot and pumped my flat tire when we were ready to leave. I've already booked it again for next year!

Had such a lovely stay with Jackie and Chris. Not only were they super accommodating of our last minute booking, they moved our campsite to one safer and dryer in the weather. We spent a beautiful cozy night despite the rain, we even got to have a little fire before it got too wet! Wood bundles for purchase are large and generous. Got to meet both Chris and Jackie and felt like we'd known them for years. Highly recommend this sweet little spot-- we'll be back!!

Great set up! I didn’t need to bring anywhere near as much as I did, they have a lot there for you. I wish I had packed more shoes/socks because my kids played by the water and jumped around on the rocks almost the entire time. Single mom here and have to say I felt very safe/comfortable camping at this site with my 3 kids (ages 6, 10, & 12).

Weekend Trip to Fairie Tale Farm

This was my first Hipcamp experience. Susan made it an extremely easy experience. Her property was amazing. Great views, peaceful and private. Bathrooms were extremely clean. She had everything ready for us. I highly recommend her sites and we will be back for sure.

Weekend Trip to Fairie Tale Farm

Our group had a great time at Fairie Tale Farms - Moondance Retreat and would highly recommend! Susan was very welcoming, showing us to our campsite and checking on us during our stay. We enjoyed walking around the property checking out the lake and watching the horses. During our stay we did a casual hike at Ricketts Glen State park and checked out a community fair.

Susan is a great host! Lots of space between camp spots. The horses came right up to the fence by the site we were on.

Weekend Trip to RoundStone

We really enjoyed this beautiful campsite with a nearby stream. We were able to find a nice spot for our family sized tent. They provide a very well kept port-a-potty only a short walk away. We hope to come back soon!
