This is exactly the kind of spot I've been looking for. I enjoyed privacy but still felt like I had people nearby for safety if needed. The view was spectacular and being surrounded by nature is exactly what I was looking for. This site was perfect for my car and tent. It was level and I had room for both my car, tent and canopy and still be able to sleep level in my car. I was blessed with perfect weather and was even able to sleep in my hammock for a night.

3 nights at Zoar Valley Forest Retreat

We loved camping at Zoar Valley Forest Retreat. Nathan was a great host; he answered all my questions immediately with more detail to add. The camping site itself was extremely isolated, easy to get to and beautiful to unwind and relax. We had enough space for our car, tent, canopy, and hammock with lots of space left over. The site was close enough to everything we needed (towns, shopping, nature sightseeing— so many farms! etc.) but still distant enough that we felt we were completely alone (we were). We also drove an hour and some change up to Niagara Falls, which was absolutely amazing (I cried 3x), and spent the last day at Cattaragus Creek, which was straight out of a National Geographic magazine. The hike there and the swimming itself was phenomenal. I highly recommend this camping site and we would love to come back. Thanks, Nathan!

Christina was a very gracious host. She welcomed us, supplied firewood, and took our group on a little tour of the beaver dam. The bathroom/outhouse was clean and met our needs. We enjoyed our stay! Thank you!

4 nights at Big Oak Hill

Kevin’s place is picturesque farmland and far off woods. I love that we were the only campers there. It is private and the views are wide and beautiful. We were able to catch a couple stunning sunsets. The skies are clear and deep with stars. In the morning the sun lights up the field below. I recorded over 25 species of birds on the Merlin app. An eagle visited twice; I think that it hunts from the big Oak. I spied a coyote in a far off field looking for mice. We also saw turkeys and mama deer with their babies. The place is easy to find but not easy to arrive at after lots of rain. We needed some assistance upon arrival then settled into the level patch at the site. After, we lowered the pressure in our tires and made it with no help. It was so worth the struggle. We have a rear wheel drive Promaster so we expect challenges. Planned to split our days between Presque Isle, Findley Lake and Chautauqua, but in the end, spent all the time at Presque Isle since it is so beautiful. Kevin and Nick could not have been nicer. They are thoughtful and wanted to be sure that we enjoyed our trip; we did! Hopefully we will return again this year. Want to get some star pictures for sure.

Weekend Trip to French Creek Flood Plain Overlook

David's campsite exceeded our expectations in tranquil views and a peaceful oasis that's not too far from home. Came during June when the dam was filled up so we had an incredible view of the water. All the lightening bug activity was a mesmerizing show every night. Walked to the Union City dam up the street one day, another day we went to Presque Isle. Lots of trees perfect for setting up a hammock. Saw a turkey, lots of deer, frogs, heard coyote at night. Lots of stargazing. Great campsite! Thanks for hosting us, David!

Weekend Trip to Zoar Valley Forest Retreat

This is the second year in a row that my buddies and I took our kids here for some weekend camping and we had even more fun this time. It’s quiet, clean, spacious, porta potty close by, counted about 5 cars going down the road all weekend and it was extremely hot and muggy this weekend but since the site is in the woods we were covered with shade and a nice cool breeze. Bugs weren’t terrible either. Cattaraugus Creek is 6 miles away so you can go tubing, fishing or go for a nice walk since the water only gets about two feet deep in most spots with plenty of shores and mini islands. If you’re looking for a nice quiet spot to pitch a tent, not be around a bunch of people and just relax, this is the place for you! It’s also pet friendly.

Weekend Trip to Big Oak Hill

It is a beautiful spot on the top of a hill with an excellent sunset view. There were thousands of fireflies in late June. One thing to consider is there is no road to the campsite. When I went, it had been raining previous days and the ground was soggy; my hybrid minivan (an heavy vehicle) actually couldn’t made the drive. Kevin will drive stuff up to the campsite if needed.

What an amazing camping experience. This host family was amazing, so kind and helpful. The grounds were clean, the bath house and restrooms were spectacular and close to all sites. Quiet location, and the fishing was great. We will gladly be staying here again.

Very peaceful and private here! I had plenty of cell service (Verizon) and had everything I needed. Dave “upgraded” me to the campsite with more amenities because I was the only camper there that night—a very nice offer and having the picnic table and privy made things easier. Dave is a great camp host, friendly and knowledgeable of the area!

I truly can’t say enough great things about the experience. If you’re looking for peace, quiet, and a genuine connection to nature, this is it. The site felt like a hidden sanctuary—perfectly tucked away for a sense of privacy and tranquility that’s hard to find these days. Plenty of wildlife to sit back and watch, too. The hosts were absolutely wonderful—the kindest and most welcoming people you could hope to meet. They made sure I felt at home and taken care of, without ever being intrusive. Definitely do yourself a favor and purchase the firewood—totally worth it. Site 1 was a dream. The outhouse! It was my first time encountering an outhouse at a primitive-type site, and it was hands down the best part of camping here. Clean, thoughtfully placed, and so appreciated—it made the stay even more comfortable. All in all, this spot offered everything I was looking for: solitude, comfort, and nature at its purest. I left feeling refreshed, inspired, and already planning my return. Thank you hosts! You are appreciated.

Lake Lucy RV Park

We are within a few miles of a dollar store if any supplies are needed, a gas station is at the end of the road and we are only a few minutes from cook forest as well as the tionesta reservoir. Water is available on site for campers and campers can use the bath house. In the bath house there is 1 full bathroom with a shower and the other bathroom is just a half bath. Chappel Hill Tree Farm

This 140-acre property is an old farmstead last farmed in the 1950's. It lies in the Allegheny Plateau region of NW Pennsylvania and is mostly hardwood forest today. It is surrounded by thousands of acres of private forestland and is very secluded. Our goal is to provide a private and secluded yet accessible camping experience where you will see more deer than people. AANR/TNS friendly. There is excellent Verizon and T-Mobile service. The skies are dark at night and the sounds of nature will surround you. Campsite 1 is near where the farmhouse and barn once stood. The site is shaded by large, old maples that once shaded the farmhouse. Old fields surround the farmstead, but the woods are a short walk away. It is the most popular campsite with an outhouse, fire ring and picnic table available. Campsite 2 is on the other side of the property. There is a fire ring but no picnic table. Both sites easily accommodate anything from tents to RV's. Each site has a separate, gated, gravel road access. These are the only 2 campsites on the property and they are far enough apart (1/4 mile) to avoid any contact should both sites be occupied. There is a 2-mile loop hiking trail on the property that traverses a variety of habitats which are home to many animals and birds. The trail is well maintained and mowed. The terrain is flat to gentle slopes. The 1/2-mile Narnia Loop trail weaves through a young spruce forest like a maze. It is so cool, literally, even on the hottest days. The Allegheny River is about 10 miles away, near Tidioute, PA, and has excellent paddling and fishing. Titusville, PA is about 15 miles away and is home to Oil Creek State Park which has great trout fishing, an excellent paved bike/hike trail, and Drake Well Museum site of the first oil well ever drilled. Finally, you will be on the doorstep to the Allegheny National Forest with all the outdoor recreation it has to offer. We hope you enjoy the peace and quiet of nature on our property as much as we have. Big Oak Hill

This is a newly created campsite that has picturesque view of surrounding farmland and of Peek-n-Peak. Located conveniently off of Rt426 with a slight drive along a field to reach the destination. Private and out of the way. Plenty of wildlife (family of fox and usually mamma deer and her babies, can normally be seen doing what animals do. Close to Peek-n-Peak and Findley Lake and its many amenities. Has fantastic cell reception so remote working is an absolute possibility if longer stays are wanted. This is a little campsite on top of a hillside besides, you guessed it, a big oak. This is on a working hay farm, so depending on when you arrive you might be able to see hay being harvested. Again, this a new campsite so improvements will be made based on demand. To enter the property, you will use a field entrance right off Harrington Hill Road (coming from the west it will be on your left-hand side). We have the way marked for you with posts/markers so hopefully it will take you right there. Please be aware this is located on top of a hill (with a big oak, hence its name :)) and you will be going through an active hay field to reach it.

The Nason Trust is located by a significant amount of trail systems that traverses gorgeous, rocky, stream-filled trails that pass by remnants of Kellettville's boomtown. While guests get to enjoy the geology, elevation changes, with dramatic views while enjoying their favorite outdoor activities. Campers will have access to the North Country National Scenic Trail that is the longest in the national trail system it spans across 8 states from North Dakota to Vermont covering 4,800 miles. After your hike you can drop by frog rock the local's favorite swimming hole that's along the same short drive back from Minister Creek trail back to the Nason Trust. Tionesta Creek and Salmon Creek are well stocked to lure in any avid fishermen. Along with another local gem; Ross Run's Habitat Improvement area it's a half mile set aside for Children 15 and under and people with Special needs giving them their very own special stocked fishing area.

Nestled in Pennsylvania Dutch country, between a large dairy farm and the Erie National Wildlife Refuge, Too Far Out Farm is favored for its natural beauty and tranquility. Residents of TFO Farm include horses, sheep, and various other friendlies of the canine and feline varieties. You could set your watch by the evening visits of our neighbors: A herd of very social dairy cows, who always seem to mosey on down right around supper time every evening. The primitive campsite will accommodate tents or a small RV. Don't worry about nosey or annoying camp neighbors, because we only book one group at a time - YOURS! The campsite includes a large fire ring, a limited amount of cut and stacked wood, a composting toilet and a small camp table. There is room for a smaller rig if you want to bring your RV or ATV. ATV or horse trail riding delights many a visitor all four seasons of the year around here. Our herd may be available for horseback riding on the back roads of Penn's woods, but please let us know ahead of time if you want to trail ride. I'm sorry, but we cannot accommodate your personal horses at this time. The farm is within walking distance of hiking and cross-country ski trails that meander through the Erie National Wildlife Refuge. Also, Crawford County's best kept secret for Perch, Walleye and Blue Gill fishing (including ice fishing) is a mile away at Sugar Lake. If you come for the hunting, (in season) let us know in advance and we will help you secure the proper permits and learn the rules of the refuge. Speaking of the wildlife, come armed with your binoculars and a good camera. Common sightings include high and low-flying Bald Eagles and other birds of prey, as well as many varieties of colorful, native song birds. You may also encounter other woodland creatures, such as, White-Tail Deer, Black Bears, Coyotes, and of course, smaller furry critters, like raccoons, fox, squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, beavers, ground hogs and opossum. Be sure to steer clear of the skunks and the porcupines, though! We can't wait to share this little slice of heaven on earth with you at Too Far Out Farm!

Nederlandia is the name of the overall parcel of land in which the main center camp, Camp Snot Otter (see our other listing under this name) is located. Nederlandia has 4 designated campsites or campers can create new campsites with direction from the owner. We provide the basic flat set up for tents and a fire pit. The land is an elongated forested strip between deep woods and a wide open field so it is very appealing to a variety of wildlife. The land has trails, wetlands, small creeks, beautiful trees, and plenty of shade on the hot Summer days while having access to a wide open field for stargazing at night. There is a nice central camp with a makeshift nature center, a large fire pit, cooking supplies and often live music.. Nearby attractions include the Erie National Wildlife Refuge, The French Creek Conservancy, Allegheny College, Woodcock Creek Nature Center, the Tamarack Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, Conneaut Lake, Hiking, horseback riding and kayaking within 10 minutes, and the super fun Venango General Store nearby. Kayaking packages are available for a 12 mile day trip. The camp is also close to a grocery store, a hardware store, an ice cream shop, and a couple rural restaurants. Campers may be allowed to gather their own dry deadfall for firewood, but good oak and cherry cooking wood will be available to purchase at center camp. With a bit of guidance from the staff, some campers may be permitted to blaze their own inroads into the woods and create their own camp legacy. Center camp is the central hub for everything you need. We have an information board with maps, current updates and info on goings on. We also have menus for pizza and local restaurants that will actually deliver to the land.. We always have coffee going in the morning and a luxury setting for a truly natural morning constitution (as long as you help to escort your creation to a staff appointed generally fertilizer deficient disposal designation). Also available for purchase or to barter for at center camp include water, toiletries,, batteries, tools for rent, and some basic cooking ingredients. Ask and we shall try our best to hook you up. Nederlandia is in the very formation stage of a potential small scale absurd culture festival with roots in Burning Man and The Electric Forest. Campers are encouraged to participate, to create spaces, and leave only works of natural art that may be aesthetically pleasing, but also beneficial to wildlife, at their sites. Wild things in wild places can happen here and many new friends can be made in the process. There is always a core staff person on site, and often a crew of hicks, skids, jocks, spiritual guides, (no degens), and musicians there every day from May to October to provide sharing, transportation, information and other basic necessities and entertainments. In the Winter, we have a very cozy cabin with a fireplace, wood stove, kitchen and generator for extra heat and light. Nederlandia is committed to wildlife conservation and education. Some of the proceeds from hosting campsites will go towards local conservation initiatives. Campers here can learn about local natural history and be immersed in the wildlife around them. We have incredible frog choruses going throughout the Spring and Summer. Our species count on the land is now somewhere in the 300s including an informal trapping study of insects last year that yielded a great number of cool bugs, but surprisingly few mosquitos. The one thing people have always said about camping here is that the mosquitos are not bad at all. We have a pond with turtles and frogs, tons of salamanders and harmless snakes. We've seen porcupine, mink, flying squirrels, and we still have a decent bat population around here. Birdwatching is a constant new surprise. There is almost always one or more dogs present here, of course. But I must also disclose, there are definitely signs of Sasquatch migrating through the back bush. Fun is our campsite concept and if we have our druthers, we can start to do themed parties around major dates and holidays, especially a grand Halloween party! We have already planted all the pumpkins for this year. Looking forward to hanging out with you guys!
