Camp Cedar Creek is a gem. It's just off 26, and super convenient to lots of hiking and amenities but it feels nice and remote. I van camped with my partner, and having the Blue Barn with a fully stocked kitchen, hang out zone, ping pong table, and clean showers and bathrooms was super handy. We loved walking down to the creek and hiking around the trails, and Jeremy and Lauren (and Juno!) were very welcoming.

It was our second visit to lions Mane camp site and we just had a blast! If you live in Portland it is so fast to get to but you truly feel as though you are immersed in wilderness. We relaxed around the fire pit, made smores and explored the hiking trails. We even checked out some other sites which we plan to book soon. I am so happy we booked this place! It was the first stop on the way to Crater Lake. Hwy 26 is a great little adventure. We loved the barn ! It was great because I didn’t have to set up camp while traveling. It was so nice to make breakfast in the morning and take the dogs on a walk on the off leash trails! The barn also has nice clean flushing toilets and clean, hot showers. There’s games and a couch to hang out which is nice if the weather turns bad. All the amenities are there. The hosts were responsive and kind. I definitely will be returning if they will have me. The Mt Hood area is amazing. Little Crater Lake is nearby and worth it!

This place was amazing! The barn was especially nice because we were traveling to Crater Lake. (Hwy 26 is a nice way to get there! ) The barn had everything we needed to cook food, shower and hang out so we didn’t have to unload everything. It made it very easy to get back on the road. The property was beautiful and we were able to walk the dogs on the off leash trails in the evening and in the morning before we got back on the road which was great! The barn has clean showers and bathrooms too. The kitchen was stocked with everything you needed. The barn was a very cool open space that has a nice hang out vibe. Great sites near Trillium lake / Mt. Hood things. Host was easy to communicate with. Was dead quiet & pitch black slept well. Even though I was the only camper it's spread enough that it would be private even if full. Would stay again.

First time using Hipcamp and staying here was such a breeze! The site was so clean and well maintained. Location was gorgeous, listening to the sound of the flowing creek made for a great night. 10/10 recommend.

Weekend Trip to Buena Vista Lavender Farm

Our stay was short because we arrived late at night. Owner was nice to bring us some lights. Have no issues in the campsite. Porta potty was clean and their cow was so cute, their rooster attacked me lol. I loved that there’s a hammock and a picnic table on site as well.

This was my first Hipcamp experience, and I couldn’t have been more pleased . Hosts Connie, Aaron and Nicole at Buena Vista Lavender Farm were so lovely and welcoming . I loved all of the very friendly animals , and enjoyed the peace and quiet of this beautiful place . I parked my small RV within sight of the little barn and walked over several times a day to say hello to the horse, donkey, cow, goats, alpacas Tito and Lulu and the extremely cool farm dogs Smokey and Bandit . I had my 3 dogs and we all just loved this place . We will definitely be back !!

Where to go

Willamette Valley Wine Country

If you like wine, you’re in the right place—Sherwood itself has a few wineries and is but a short drive from many, many more. You’ll find some of the highest concentration of wineries in the nearby towns of Dundee, Yamhill, Newberg, and McMinnville.

Along the Willamette River

The Willamette is the closest major river to Sherwood, and is flanked with beautiful green spaces and state and county parks. Popular spots within a short drive include Molalla River State Park, Champoeg State Park, and the San Salvador Beach and Boat Launch.

Along the Clackamas River

East of Sherwood, the Clackamas River is known for its fishing, whitewater rafting, and summertime swimming opportunities. It’s also flanked with some great recreation areas, including the Milo McIver State Park, a darling among disc golfers.

When to go

If you’re looking to camp or spend a lot of time outdoors, try to plan your visit for July, August, or September, when temperatures are generally warm and the chance of rain is low. Temperatures begin to drop in October and things don’t often warm up again until April, but while autumn, winter, and spring in this region can be rainy, temperatures rarely drop much below freezing.
