Take a walk to look at Mt. Adams which is just around the corner. Hiking, biking, kite boarding, windsurfing all within a few miles of reach with never ending opportunities to get your exercise. Just ask for tips.
The land has mostly Oak trees where you can take your nap in your hang matt. The place is easy accessible, far away from all but still close to all Gorge attractions during the day. The town has a nice little convenience store, country cafe, Chinese restaurant, and new to our town "Confluence Cafe" right at the entrance by the Klickitat River - Awesome views - yummy treats and coffee. Matt and Ali are super cool, go check it out.
Grocery shopping is best done in Hood River, White Salmon or
The Dalles. Once up here, there isn't much, so come prepared.

We tent camped on one of the RV sites (Potbelly 2) so we could drive up, and we had a fantastic time. Our 3-yr old twins LOVED getting to meet and feed the farm animals, and the people who live on site were very friendly and welcoming. The outdoor bathroom was the cleanest I’ve ever experienced and only a few minutes walk from our site. The showers were a nice feature as well!

Private and quiet lower camp despite the nearby road. Zero mosquitos. Nadja was a fantastic and authentic host, even gave us baked apricot strudel and extra veggies from her garden! A herd of deer and some wild turkeys came through. We would definitely stay with her again!
Note: If you have a dog, keep them near your tent/camper as it is the time of year for burrs. Our dog was covered with them.

Beautiful spot! Close to the reservoirs and lots of great hiking. The toilet and shower were a treat since we stayed for 4 days. Most of the spots were shaded and we never felt too hot even though it was July. Will likely return here again in the future!

Great spot! Perfect for self-contained camper/trailer set-ups (no bathrooms). Perfect location near the river. Green grass field. We had a great burger at the Oasis Cafe across the street and a fun time rafting with friends.

We spent Memorial Day weekend at this amazing private campground with three trailers and two tents—plenty of space and privacy for our whole crew. The kids spent hours at the creek catching trout and “axolotls” (giant salamanders, but don’t tell them!).
Speelyai Beach is just a 30-second drive away, with a calm bay perfect for paddleboarding and a roped-off swim area. We also visited the Ape Caves for the first time—absolutely stunning!
The central campfire was dreamy for morning coffee and evening s’mores, and the bathroom was clean and convenient for our tent campers. We are already planning our next trip back and would highly recommend this hidden gem to anyone looking for a private, family-friendly camping experience close to nature and adventure. Five stars all the way!

Scrumpy Forest Farm is straight-up magical. Paula is a generous and kind host who made us feel right at home. She welcomed us to her beautiful land, helped us settle in, and shared the farm’s magic. The Quidditch field was perfect for our group campout: open enough to stargaze, yet surrounded by trees that made the space feel wild, safe, and tucked away from the world.
The cozy kitchen had everything we needed—and honestly, I caught myself wishing it was my everyday kitchen. We even got to build chickadee birdhouses as a little nature craft project, which was such a fun bonus. And Etta the dog was adorable.
Scrumpy Forest is one of those rare places that feels grounded and enchanting at the same time. Whether you’re visiting for a campout, a project, or one of their community events, I’d 100% recommend it.

We really enjoyed our stay at this campsite. It was clean and spacious with plenty of room for our dog to run around. It is surrounded by beautiful oak trees and since the leaves hadn’t come in yet, there was plenty of sunlight, 0which was great for keeping our solar panels charged. There is a big opening to 0 sky so you would still get some good sun and views even with the trees filled in.
Nadja was really nice and helpful, making sure we had what we needed. She was super thoughtful and provided a ton of good suggestions and even let us borrow bug spray for our dog for hiking.
Currently, water is available at the top of the driveway. We have a 20ft trailer and were able to manage it without any issues. But Nadja did mention she may be bring a hose down to the site.
There was a bit of road noise during the day, but it wasn’t constant and was much quieter than the main roads. At night, the site was pretty quiet and very peaceful.
It’s a beautiful spot and we had a comfortable and relaxing stay. It was a great place to hang out at and a nice location for surrounding hikes.
