Our property has been in business in one way or another for over 70 years. The stick built cabins are pre 1950's and no one really knows for sure how old they truly are. We are located on Fort Creek named after the creek that ran through Fort Klamath. Fort Creek is a beautiful 30' wide meandering creek that runs the length of the property north to south. We offer free use of our Old Town Canoes to paddle along it's extent and on up creek to a beaver damn. There is a fun hiking trail that runs over two bridges that span the creek, one covered and one floating. We also offer free catch and release fishing, there are Rainbow and Brown Trout in our waters. Fort Klamath is the birthplace and home of the US Army 1st Cavalry and our property is located on the the Forts Southeastern grounds. We are 9 miles from the southern border of the National Park and 23 miles from the southern Rim and Rim Village. Please note: We do allow pets in some of our sites for $10 per night. The cabin, in a Douglas Fir grove next to a seasonal creek, sits on five forested acres and is adjacent to BLM lands open for hiking. Outside is a fire pit with Adirondack chairs. Snow season starts in late fall and continues through March. Snowparks, snowy woods, and meadows are nearby for cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. The roads to the cabin are plowed, but you'll need all-wheel drive, and tires that are safe for snow and ice. When you arrive, you'll be greeted and briefly introduced to some of the cabin's unique features, including attic stairs to the windowed sleeping loft. Downstairs is a sofa and a sofabed. The coffee cart kitchen has a refrigerator/freezer, coffee maker, electric tea kettle, toaster oven, and microwave. Cook on an outdoor gas grill with a skillet and saucepan, and enjoy outdoor dining at a picnic table. Dishes, linens, and bedding are provided. WiFi speed is suitable for basic use. Mobile phones connect through WiFi. The cabin is non-smoking. Children eight years and up are welcome. Summer recreational areas are nearby with miles of trails, including the Pacific Crest Trail, are nearby. Howard Prairie Lake is across the road. Howard Prairie Lake is a local favorite for fishing for Rainbow Trout and smallmouth bass. Birdwatchers can see eagles, pelicans, geese, ducks, hawks, herons, and many other bird species. A 20-minute drive will take you to Lake of the Woods, where you can dine, hike, and kayak, or snowshoe and cross-country ski in the winter. Crater Lake National Park is 50 miles away.

Crater Lake Woodlands is part of the historic Katydid Ranch. Once owned by Boise Cascade who used it both for growing seedlings to replant logged mountain sides and as a vacation getaway for their executives, the story of Katydid Ranch goes back to the early 1900's when it's owner named "Katy" used it as the "half-way" overnight lodging for horse & buggy guests traveling to Crater Lake from the Rogue Valley. Leaving the valley at the crack of dawn, they could arrive at "Katy's" by nightfall, in time for a meal and sound mountain sleep. They'd hitch up at dawn and make it to Crater Lake by nightfall. Historically, the first residents were the Rogue River Takelma and Latgawa native Americans. Latgawa lived in the Rogue Valley of interior southwest Oregon. In their own language "Latgawa" means "those living in the “uplands," though they were also known as the Walumskni by the neighboring Klamath tribes. Specifically, Ha-ne-sakh. The Latgawa were one of two peoples who spoke the Takelma language. They were hunters, gatherers, weavers and fished the Rogue River. They were known to have a stationary settlement and trading post at the Katydid Ranch location. Their tribes lived in the upper Rogue River area extending beyond Prospect and Union up to Crater Lake. Since we've owned the Ranch, we've maintained the custom of welcoming overnight guests and at the same time, we continue to honor the protected wildlife designation given to it back in the 50's. Wildlife viewing is one the delights we share with our guests. Please be mindful of native wildlife keeping dogs on leash so as to avoid chasing and barking at wildlife. Thank you. The animals here include, but are not limited to black tail deer, elk, fox, coyote, ringtailed cat, raccoon, skunk, and also typically farther up the mountain are the elusive mountain lions and black bear which we have never spotted on our property. The ponds and surrounding area are home to migratory to the Oregon Pond turtle, Canada geese, quail, wild turkeys, various owls including the great horned owls, hawks, cranes and eagles. Our pond bird watcher friends spotted Common Mergansers, Ring Necked Ducks, Canada Geese…and a Loon. The bull frogs orchestrate the evening and can be heard at times throughout the day. Katydid Ranch is a wildlife sanctuary. The flora and fauna of the forest is abundant and diverse. This land is home to many native grasses, ferns, and berries, wild flowers, as well as many other edible and medicinal plants and numerous varieties of mushrooms. If you are visiting during blackberry season, feel free to pick, pick, pick and indulge. Katydid trees include old growth Douglas Fir, Ponderosa, Sugar, and Jeffrey Pine, various Cedar tree varieties, Incense Cedar, the majestic Pacific Madrone, Alder, Big Leaf Maple, Black and White Oak, Dog wood, and Vine Maple. It is important to note that there is no poison oak or poison ivy around the area. It is a wonderful place to really explore. Just 15.4 miles east of Ashland on highway 66 then 9 miles on a slow dirt road. The drive is absolutely part of the experience, slow down and enjoy the views. As you drive up hwy 66 the views of the valley below are absolutely incredible, then you come to the dirt road. This is a very slow drive due to the condition of the road, it is part of the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument and poorly maintained. **Important** The last section of road to get to this pristine and secluded forest location is a 9 mile dirt road with bumps, rocks, and a many washouts that bring you to a near stand still. 4 wheel drive is strongly recommended. Low clearance cars not recommended.

Several wineries are also within a 10 minute drive. We are just adjacent to Emigrant Lake for kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming, and fishing. Heading farther east, Hwy 66 climbs up into the Greensprings area with more opportunities to explore hiking trails and mountain lakes. Crater Lake National Park is 60 miles away, and makes a great day trip.

If you are a plant enthusiast, bird-watcher or nature lover, or even a rockhound, this area will be a dream come true. The terrain is hilly but old logging roads provide nice hiking paths along with hundreds of animal paths for the able bodied. Near the owners cabin and main camp area there is an outdoor kitchen, tapped spring to collect water, fire pit and a compost outhouse. It is important to note that there is no poison oak or poison ivy around the area. It is a wonderful place to really explore. Just 15.4 miles east of Ashland on highway 66 then 9 miles on a slow dirt road. The drive is absolutely part of the experience, slow down and enjoy the views. As you drive up hwy 66 the views of the valley below are absolutely incredible, then you come to the dirt road. This is a very slow drive due to the condition of the road, it is part of the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument and poorly maintained. **Important** The last section of road to get to this pristine and secluded forest location is a 9 mile dirt road with bumps, rocks, and a many washouts that bring you to a near stand still. 4 wheel drive is strongly recommended. Low clearance cars not recommended.

What a beautiful and cozy spot!! Kit was very accommodating and friendly. The cabin was warm, the fire pit was perfect. I was just bummed the outside bathtub wasn't functional at that time, but all in all a great spot and I highly recommend.

The store has everything you need, is reasonably priced, and everyone that works there is so nice. Would recommend and if I'm back around Crater Lake I'll be back for sure.

Hideouts HipCamp Review I loved this place! Partly the location and partly the very nice people there. About the location: it's not for everyone,; it is a bit of a drive including 5 miles on a scrabble road that is fine. But you get out and away from everyone and into a beautiful spot with a great view. It’s also rather rustic that I like that soon they will have a bath house and it’ll be different. There’s an example of how they were nice to me: I am 72 years old and have some mobility issues. they were very cognizant of it and helped me get around a little bit. That was very sweet. I would come back every year if I could.

Weekend Trip to Honeycomb Hill

We absolutely loved our stay and look forward to staying at the dome again the next time we're in the area. The location is private and scenic, about 20 minutes from Ashland's city center. The dome itself is cozy and we'll equipped - though you will need to bring your own cooking supplies if you plan on cooking there. The hot tub was the highlight of our trip. You'll have beautiful views of the hills and wildlife. We spotted a family of deer and while we were tubbing! One note for potential guest - you may have trouble with the access road to the property with a low-clearance vehicle. Our Subaru Crosstrek made it just fine, but it would be a bumpy one in a sedan. Thank you Joe and Laura for a wonderful stay :)

Our campsite was spacious, there were swings and a playground area for our kids, and we loved canoeing in the beautiful creek. It was also a quick and pleasant drive from Crater Lake.

Wow! What a wonderful place, and maybe one of my favorite HipCamps I have stayed at. When you book here, you aren't just booking a place to sleep, it is a whole experience! The owner and staff were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I was really impressed by the property and its history, especially their work restoring wetlands and promoting forest diversity, and I learned a lot during my stay. I also especially loved meeting the goats and picking fresh produce from their U-Pick farm. They even offer goat hikes, which I didn’t get to try this time, but I’m already planning my next visit just for that! The bed was super comfortable, and the community kitchen was impressively well-equipped. They truly thought of everything—you just need to show up and enjoy!

Where to start...Wendy, Madison and Brooke were the sweetest! Wendy made sure to take care of a charge from Hipcamp that shouldn't have been charged for a reservation modification. The store and set up behind are awesome! The play structure could use some help, the swings are great, canoes are awesome, the store perfect! I would day if the owners added a hot tub or a few of them, with an outside shower and a 1hr color coded max time in at a time, the guests would be in heaven! They could even do beaver tours at night, we saw at least 9 at one time. Its a gem of a spot and hope to go back!!!

Joy’s residence was such a pleasure to stay at! We booked both Pine Camp sites and stayed with friends. The 3rd site (Dave’s Camp) wasn’t booked but even if it was, the sites are fairly separated and the Pine Camp sites would have still felt completely private. There is a nice little trail behind the camp sites that the dogs enjoyed, and plenty of shade for hanging out and relaxing! Joy was so friendly, communicative, and was flexible with us when we requested leaving slightly later than normal checkout time (since no one coming in after us). The sites were well set up, clean, and had a cute, cozy vibes to them! As others have stated, the sewer hookup is on the front side of the site and the electric and water is on the back. We chose to wait to hook up sewer and just dumped the tanks right before leaving. The water spigot is set back aways from the site, we had extra hoses so it was no trouble but you will need some hose length (50’) to reach! A wonderful experience and our next trip to the Crater Lake area we will no doubt request to stay with Joy again!

We loved our stay at the strawberry fields! The tent was spacious and comfortable, and nice and cool at night. The 'patio' space was really nice for hanging out with the lights on, which also made for a cute path to the bathroom. The bathroom was my favorite part, it was clean, and decorated really cute! The shower was easy to use and was really nice to have close to the tent. We also really appreciated the grill for making dinner! Great stay, highly recommend!

Camping on Daniel’s land was simple and peaceful! He gave great, easy to follow directions to get to the site and it was just as described! The site was well maintained, had a picnic table, and was in a very peaceful, quiet location! Definitely recommend for those not needing anything special and a quick spot to camp at within close proximity to Crater Lake National Park! Daniel was also very responsive and available for questions :)
