Sleep under the stars at a lake campsite near this popular Oregon Coast resort town.
On the northern Oregon Coast, a short drive from Portland, Cannon Beach is a popular spot among city-dwellers in search of easy access to sea and sand. It's the gateway to Ecola State Park, one of the more popular hiking destinations on the northern Oregon Coast. While there aren't any lakes in Cannon Beach, there are plenty nearby, including Stanley Lake in Seaside, just north of town, and Neahkahnie Lake in Manzanita, a short drive south. While lakeside camping is harder to come by in the region, you will find plenty of riverfront options on Hipcamp, both along the coast and slightly inland in the Tillamook and Clatsop state forests. There are also loads of camping options in nearby state parks, but they do fill up in advance, particularly on busy summer weekends.
