Madden Farm has been in the Madden family and its descendants for seven generations. The original farmhouse on Madden Farm dates back to the 1860s. In 1980, a second dwelling was added to the property when a cabin on a nearby farm was moved across the fields and placed near Madden Pond. You don't have to be an experienced fisherman to catch a fish in this pond! Swimming, kayaking, paddle boat, axe throwing (plastic), cornhole, small beach area for the little ones, and 2 acres of woods for those who enjoy a peaceful walk. All campers need to check-in with the on-site owners. All gear will be transported with a golf cart if needed. There is NO parking at the sites. The walk from all the sites to the bathroom or parking is under 2 minutes.

We bought this 125+ year old farm in 2010 with the hope of bringing it back to life. Overgrown and neglected, we have worked hard to make it a nice place for hiking, kayaking, fishing or any number of other activities. Peaceful and remote, the property has a beautiful brook that leads you to the South branch of the Portage river. Deer, turkey, geese, herons, mink and fox are just a few of our natural animal friends. Rusty the steer and his pony friends Lexi and Little Bits can be visited while they graze in the pasture or as they rest at the barn. There are chickens and Brindle the barn kitty. We have the perfect place for dogs as well. We have five dogs of our own that get along great with others and our fenced pond keeps them safe. We allow kayaking on the pond when our dogs are inside. But fishing has been restricted due to unfortunate incidents. Hiking trails, crisscross the properties on both sides of the road. We’ve added 8 acres across the creek to the south of the barn bringing our total to 16 acres for you to wander freely. The trails are being developed and some are dead ends. Be cautious to stay on the trails as there are many nasty plants off of the trails. No open toed shoes should be worn, as poison ivy as present pretty much everywhere. A guided tour is available when available. We also provide Firewood and kayaks and animal interactions for fees. ESV is help us pay for our animal upkeep, including food, Vet bills, and Ferrier fees. We appreciate all donations made to that cause. Our future development will include Rusty‘s Barn. Which will be a music/wedding venue. That would be located in the upstairs of the barn.

Awesome host and site. My first time RV camping. Just picked up a new camper and wanted to give it a shakedown for an evening before leaving the area. Stopped at a State Park not far away. Was super packed and didn't want to embarrass myself as a new camper. Shawn was able to accommodate on very short notice. Site was level, had all needed amenities and then some. But most of all, was very pieceful. Made learning the camper very easy. Site was also very well maintained. Would definitely recommend. Shawn set the bar high for future hipcamp stays.

Whenever I think tent camping, I think Rusty’s farm! It’s the best case scenario, you get a private camping area, a creek to play in, and endless adventures on this land. If you’re getting board sitting at your campsite, you can take a walk to see rusty and little bit! And if you’re lucky, jay and heather will come take you for a tour around the property! Jay and heather are some of the best host we’ve gotten the pleasure to meet. They are very warm and inviting, but most importantly accommodating! Will definitely be back next year!!!

This was such a lovely camp ground. Loved how clean it was. Loved everything about it. We stayed in Pine Haven. It was perfect for my husband’s and I wedding anniversary weekend. So peaceful and quiet. Much needed weekend for us. This was the perfect spot. It stormed and there were tornado warnings and the host were so lovely to let us seek shelter in one of the homes in the land. I am forever thankful for their hospitality.

Madden Farm is a great blend of meadows and woods. The camp check in was easy and the provided map was super helpful. Even with a little rain, I enjoyed hiking on the grassy trails and an evening campfire. I would definitely come back when I am in the area.

We loved tent camping at Rusty’s retreat! Our site was spacious and secluded, which made for a perfect weekend getaway. Jay was very helpful throughout our stay, he gave us a full tour of the property, allowed us to use his kayaks out on the pond, and even brought us fresh tomatoes from their garden! We had our 8 month old with us and this was a great experience for all of us, we hope to be back soon!

This sweet little camp ground was adorable! Each site was private but you were well immersed in nature. There was easy access to a bathroom and little basement shop and the wood and kindling was dry despite the rain! The gentleman who showed us to our site was lovely and we learned it was named after the moon landing. Had a great time here! 😆
