3 nights at Triple D Retreat

Frank was a great host. With all the rain we ended up stuck and he was gracious and came to our rescue. This, despite us ignoring his advice on where to park the camper due to the immense rain they've been having. This was our second time on his property and both have been excellent, quiet, secluded experiences. We'll be back again for sure.

Weekend Trip to Salt Creek Camp at Sunnyvale Farm

This HipCamp is only 10 minutes from campus. It is a great option for visiting the college without having to pay crazy hotel prices! Also, the host is fabulous. This past weekend was so wet that our camper ended up getting a little stuck. Ed, the host, offered to let us leave it until it dries out or pull us out! He is so helpful and accommodating. Cannot recommend this option enough!

3 nights at Triple D Retreat

This is a great site with plenty of room. The shelter was great. Perfect spot to watch the sunrise and the moon was fabulous. If you’re craving peace and quiet this is the place for you. There is a lot of history in the area and lots of roads to go overlanding and exploring.

Weekend Trip to Butterfly Valley at Zaleski

Went off season, a great spot to backpack at the nearby trails and a nice clean and spacious area with hookup. Clearly marked and firewood available. It was a weekend and trails were busy Saturday. Zero cell service until about 2 miles away off the main road. Very little noise pollution and peaceful with lots of birds to see even in November. All friendly neighbors, backpackers, trail riders and locals. Would love to come back in the Spring, host was great very quick to reply

Weekend Trip to Salt Creek Camp at Sunnyvale Farm

Peaceful night’s sleep and wonderful host. He was planting trees while we were there which will offer more privacy and sound dampening from road in the future - but we were not bothered by the cars driving by. We also enjoyed a short walk across to the Hocking River. We would definitely stay there again.

We have a beautiful 20 acre lake. It's 60 ft deep with crystal clear water and is great for swimming and fishing. Kayaking welcome too. We also have a couple other ponds available for fishing as well. We raise fresh water prawn and bluegill in the summertime, so late september we have fresh shrimp available. Lots of waterfowl and deer here to see.

Just 3 minutes from the Bailey mountain bike trails and the Hockhocking Adena bikeway. We are also 30 minutes from the Hocking Hills or 15 minutes from Strouds Run State Park and if you are a little more adventurous, you are welcome to hike the farm with many uphill climbs or an easier hike to see the little grotto. If going into town is more your speed, Athens is a few minutes away and you can be on the campus of Ohio University in less than 10 minutes without having to leave paved roads.

We are unable to accommodate domestic animal friends/pets due to our senior dog Peanut who you may see somewhere around the property during your stay. Chickens, pigs, goats, cows, and turkeys are all raised out doors in a way that regenerates the soil and creates beauty across the landscape. 45 minutes from Columbus, Ohio! We sit 7 minutes off of I-71 just outside of Fredericktown, Ohio, but we never hear the highway. Our farm makes the perfect weekend escape from the big city or a great big breath of fresh air for the traveler coming by! We have a couple of sites to choose from. We have a grassy field with lots of privacy right off the road. We also have a flat gravel drive for larger vehicles or during wet times. Come enjoy a slice of Central Ohio heaven with us! Split seasoned firewood is usually available for purchase. Plenty of recreational opportunities are near for outdoor enthusiasts. We border the nearly 28K-acre Zaleski State Forest, which boasts of Hunting, Hiking, Horseback Riding, Backpacking, Mountain Biking, and more. LAKE HOPE STATE PARK is just 4 miles away down an old dirt road, with a 120-acre lake for boating, paddleboarding, kayaking, fishing and swimming. They also have a free public Shooting Range. HISTORICAL REMNANTS are sprinkled throughout the area, most notably the haunted Moonville Tunnel, Kings Hollow Tunnel and the Hope Iron Furnace. While we don't allow hunting on our property, PUBLIC HUNTING is permitted in Zaleski State Forest (bordering our property) as well as the neighboring Waterloo Wildlife Area and the 5000 acre Wild Turkey management area.
