Croaky Oak Clearing of Good Knights Reserve is located in Ohio and a 25-30 minute drive to Dublin. You'll have nothing but peace and privacy on the back 15 acres of the property. A 1/2 mile drivable path will take you to the one site offered. Here you can pitch your tent, build a campfire, catch and release a few fish from the pond, or choose to sit on the floating dock with your feet in the water. Madden Farm has been in the Madden family and its descendants for seven generations. The original farmhouse on Madden Farm dates back to the 1860s. In 1980, a second dwelling was added to the property when a cabin on a nearby farm was moved across the fields and placed near Madden Pond. In recent years, the family has endeavored to be good stewards of the land by planting trees, growing fruits and vegetables while incorporating sustainable practices. Also of interest, since 2014, family members from Madden Farm have hosted the Madden Road Music Fest, a one-day music festival held annually on the second Saturday in August.

We cater to the tent camper so that we can hear frogs & owls instead of generators. But, there is an RV section up front for those with quiet generators with several feet of gravel under the grass to hold the weight of your camper.
We charge by the carload & there are different rates for driving back toward the woods for camping depending on the number of wheels & the weight of your vehicle (a factor on the wear & tear on the land). We believe in going outside to play, growing & eating fresh food, strengthening family bonds and promoting the awareness of our natural resources.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING: 1) The speed limit is 5 mph as soon as you enter the property (kids & dogs are quick to dart in front of you). 2) As a state registered campground, it is mandatory that you check in at the house to fill out a Registration Form before heading to your campsite. 3) No glass allowed anywhere on the property (we don't want our feet or paws cut open and can do without flat tires). 4) Children under 18 must be attended to at all times for their safety (the frog pool is 10' deep, the pond is 8-10' deep depending on rains, and the creek can turn into a churning river).

This 5 acre property is loaded with activities! The stocked pond (catch and release) is a great place to teach your kids how to fish. You don't have to be an experienced fisherman to catch a fish in this pond! Swimming, kayaking, paddle boat, cornhole, small beach area for the little ones, and 2 acres of wooded trails for those who enjoy a peaceful walk. Wildlife is abundant and they prefer to be left alone. Please stay on the trails to preserve all vegetation. If you see a fawn or other babies, please do not touch these animals. Momma will be back! First of all, the cinnamon rolls were incredible and arrived warm at my campsite:) the fire pit was nice and having a table for food prep and meal time was a nice touch.
Joy and her hubby stopped by deliver the wood and met my dog and me. HipCamp owners are the best!
Now for the big surprise… at dusk, lights in the shade tree came on!! That was the winning touch for sure
Just know this is a primitive camp with small amenities. Bring your camping toilet and privacy tarp.

We loved this space! There was so much to do, the bathroom was great, and we loved the little shop there too its snacks and last minute essentials. It’s also a 10min drive from a Walmart if you need anything else.
Having Steve help haul our stuff to the campsite in the golf cart was a massive plus.

We had such a wonderful stay at Kyla’s homestead this weekend! Our trip was pretty last-minute, but Kyla and her family were incredibly accommodating and made everything so easy for us from the start.
The property itself is absolutely beautiful, with plenty of space to relax and really enjoy being surrounded by nature. It felt peaceful, welcoming, and like the perfect little escape.
My son especially loved checking out the chickens, and our dog had the best time playing with their sweet and energetic pup, Opal.

What an awesome camping experience!!
My wife and I had a chance to get away for the weekend and this was a perfect choice. Yes there are goats and we LOVE goats but there loads of chickens, sheep, ducks, turkeys, cats and a couple of gorgeous Great Pyrenees dogs. As certified critter lovers, we had a blast and will definitely come back again when we have the chance.

We love to stay at the ranch and visit with Glen, sarah and the cattle. We have been tree times and plan to make this our regular go to for camping.
The view is spectacular, the property is emaculate, the owners are a delight and the peacefulness us abundant.
We love the extra perk to buy the delicious organic grass-fed beef raised there.
Then there is the nearby town of yellow springs with its quaint town with an artsy and trendy vibe, and adventurous and beautifal hiking trails.
You must visit. You will be hooked!

The goats are unruly! Laura, a goat, was my admirer and the kids were the cutest things to watch. I laughed at their silliness the whole time. Many sheep, goats, chickens, ducks, cats, dogs, rabbits, turkeys, a horse and perhaps animals I didn’t see. It is a working farm that supports children’s education and love of animals. Catherine is incredibly hospitable and welcoming. Just a good, nice person. Her team of interns, volunteers and staff are so committed to the animals. Thank you Ophelia, Austin and Maddie Be aware you will be woken by roosters (many roosters) in the morning and you’ll have messy shoes in the evening. This is a no frills location and I liked it that way. Be sure to watch the sunset. Peaceful and relaxing I recommend Catherine’s Hipcamp.

Great site. Able to walk around through a couple different short trails so great for walking your furry companion while still being close to your camp. Also able to let your furry friend explore without a leash.

With kids
We loved camping at Flying J Farm. We spent all day fishing on the lake and caught some beautiful Catfish! The kids loved the boat and the space to run and play! Being so close to the bathroom was a plus. The area was clean and so nice and quiet. The owner is friendly, and came to check on us each day. We loved seeing the cows on the way in and the fact that you drive so far back to get to the campsite, it didn't feel like you were even on a farm. We love this place and will be back soon!

Jay has a great set up with plenty of camping areas and a beautiful meadow. The place was super clean and well taken care of. It was a perfect getaway spot.

With kids
We've enjoyed Flying J several times and have tried various sites. This time, Site 9. With trees not fully leafed out yet (early April), some other sites were technically visible from our spot, but if trees were in full leaf I think the only one still noticeable would be "the Chapel"/Site 8, which was not occupied during our visit. We didn't have any disturbance from campers at other sites; I'd say the feeling at Site 9 is of privacy, but not isolation. Spring peepers were noisy, but we like them! We tent camped and put up a hammock. By the way Site 9 is not very close to the bathroom, so we brought our own "luggable loo" for convenient nighttime use (currently $22 at REI, plus pack of 6 waste bags, $18). Rain was forecast at times, so the farmer advised 4 wheel drive would be best. We brought our own lifejackets and made use of both one-seater kayaks as well as the rowboat; this is one of our favorite things about Flying J. At this visit, I was not able to really hike due to injury, so I loved that I could still catch a glimpse of the bent tree with the splintered arm (at the far side of the lake, when heading in direction of the cove?), just by riding past in the rowboat. I knew what to look for, and as mentioned the trees weren't in full leaf, so I don't know how easy this would be to spot for someone else. My family also hiked to the tree later that day. One of us did end up with a dog tick, so be attentive, but that's just normal outdoor life in Ohio.
